    Great video. A question, like you said after MS/MCh and clearing MRCS A, B, you enter at ST-3 level.
    1. Where do you have to apply for to enter the pathway at ST-3? Which website or application process?
    2. Regarding the logbook and journals to be kept during MS, where will one find the format or the outline to keep the journal of your cases?

I am really confused whether I should go for USMLE Or MRCS (UK). Eventually, my goal is to gain good experience from abroad and settle there if the earning and other factors remain stable. At the same time, I don't want to hustle much into the financial expenditure and the preparation part as well, because I have to support my family financially. • @SumanPaulDoc
      @SumanPaulDoc  2 роки тому +1

      Competition ratio of 4-5 is quite competitive. The main difficulty is that IMGs won't be able to compete with local graduates in the application. They will score less in pre application scoring and commitment to specialty.

    Hello suman sir …….i read many replies of your ….somewhere you mentioned - “if you are a MS passout from india , you have to apply for ST3 , not CT1. Which is extremely difficult “.
    You mean , getting into a training ST3 post is difficult right ? If that’s so , what are the scopes for a MS passout and how one can improve his CV being MS passout from india?
    also , i have heard from my peers , in general all the surgical branches are extremely difficult to get into in UK because of competition from UK graduates and recruitment bodies favouring UK passout above IMGs….is there any truth to this?

    • @SumanPaulDoc
      @SumanPaulDoc  Рік тому +1

      I don't think there is much scope for career progression in surgical fields in the UK now. It's extremely competitive to enter training so chances are slim as an IMG. Only reasonable option is to work in a non training job, learn some advanced skills and return back to India

    1. What is the probability that an Indian mbbs graduate get surgery residency in UK after being an SHO Vs without being an SHO (that is directly after plab & FY2)?
    2. What is the probability that an Indian mbbs graduate can get an SHO post & get a good opinion from your seniors there (In UK) so that you can get a surgical residency (in UK)?
    3. Is the PLAB route better or MRCS route (after MS in India)better if you are planning to work In India after studying in UK?

    • @SumanPaulDoc
      @SumanPaulDoc  3 роки тому +1

      1. You don't necessarily need to work in SHO posts to apply for core surgical training. If you can get all the required competencies signed off for your application during FY2, then you might get into training.
      2. Surgical residency is competitive but possible to get into if you plan your CV accordingly. Its not your nationality but your portfolio+interview scores that determines your success.
      3.If you want to train as a surgeon in UK, PLAB is the preferred option. remember you cannot work as a surgeon for more than 18months to apply for core surgery training. So any form of post graduate training like MS/DNB disqualifies you for CST application.

    1. If we complete MS in India and passed MRCS .. we go to CT1 for 3 years and then before going to ST1 ..is there any exam to choose the speciality like NEET mch exams in India..or you can choose the speciality like giving choice.??
    2. After MS , you need to work around 3 years CT AND 5 years for ST right sir..??
    3. When does this FRCS Come into picture..??
    4. Becoming a consultant in UK , which are the countries where these are valid and we can migrate if we want to without studying further..?
    5. After Mch in India also you need to undergo core training and ST training , so a plastic surgeon in India takes total 8 years to become a plastic surgery consultant in UK. Am I right sir.??
    6. Lastly , which are the best surgical specialities that you can opt for a better work life money balance???

    • @SumanPaulDoc
      @SumanPaulDoc  3 роки тому +8

      1.To clarify this further- If you complete 3 years MS training in India, you will be ineligible for CST application.(18months is the maximum limit of surgical experience).The only option remains is to apply at ST3, which is extremely difficult.The application process is combination of your portfolio/CV review and interview.
      2. MS/MCH does not count towards training in UK. So does not matter for your training application.After MS, you may enter ST3 and complete 5-6 years to e become consultant.
      3. FRCS is exit exam for ST6-8, at the end of training.
      4. CCT is valid in all countries notably Australia, NZ, gulf, singapore(without any further exams)and Europe.Not valid in Canada and USA.
      5. Again Mch can only enter at ST3.
      6.All specialities are contracted to work 40-48 Hours/week and paid same NHS consultant salary so it does not matter which subject you choose. Breast, plastic surgery, general surgery etc have scope for private work.

    After superspecialisation in India (MCh/DrNB), at which position do we enter into in the UK? Do we have to apply for ST3 and go through the whole process of superspecialisation all over again? Or can we get a job based on our specialty? And how do we earn the FRCS degree?
    It would be great if you could clear my doubts Sir. Thank you.

      You may return with few years of UK experience but that won't add much to your CV. You should at least clear FRCS exam or get Indefinite leave to remain before returning.

      With MD medicine from India and MRCP, you should be able to apply for ST4 specialty training.only you have to get alternative core competencies form signed off.
