I'm a short girl, and I started noticing that every time one of my friends likes someone, my other friends ask "is he tall?" EVERY TIME. it kinda annoyed me cause as a short girl (not that I don't like tall guys but) I know what it feels like to be constantly reminded about my short stature so I feel empathy for short guys. I have a crush on someone who is short (about my height) but I don't think girls should judge based on height cause TALLER IS NOT HOTTER #ShortPeoplePride 😂😂

I used to be really attracted to tall guys but a few years ago my taste in men completely changed because I became interested Korean pop culture. I found myself starting to be attracted to Asian guys when I had never been attracted to them before! Some of the Asian guys that I was attracted to weren't tall; eventually height no longer was a physical attribute that mattered (it helps that I am only about 5'2). When it comes to accents, it really depends on where you are and personal experience/preference. For example, I live in Britain and when asked I don't think anyone here would say that the most attractive accent for them is the British accent. I personally like any accent that is different, something that's a change from what I have to listen to everyday.

As a girl, I do agree about playing sports being attractive, but as I grow older it's more because the guy is actually being physically active and will be healthier as a result rather than anything intrinsic to the sport itself. Yes, muscles are nice, but they represent that he's not going to keel over and die of inactivity. We want to live long lives with you - you're already behind on the average lifespan, so guys pick up your sports or physical activity please! I totally agree on how to get out of the friendzone though... You've got to risk it and it's true for both men and women. Sometimes they just don't know you're interested so you have to be super honest.
Height doesn't bother me, I do think talent is sexy (particularly singing, or playing piano or guitar), I like almost any accent (all Asian accents included, but specifically Korean, Chinese, and Thai)...but, honestly, does ANY girl care about this stuff if their personality is crap? I learned that it's a necessity to be friends with someone before I consider going out with them. And I also know that even if your friend is attracted to you, it's possible to stay friends. I actually had a friend who was drunk and kissed me. And I was completely fine. We didn't go out, but we continued to be friends because that's how I felt about him.

Hey guys, this is a great topic! One thing that a lot of the guys I know talk about in relationship talks is "how do I find the right woman?" And it's kind of funny to hear these bad "one size fits all" relationship advice. The only response I can ever think of for the "right woman" question is to not focus on finding the right woman, but being yourself and being the right man, because then the "right woman" will gravitate to you. Automatically "more" attractive at first glance or outer appearance? People who shower, clean, little to no cologne. Flat stomach is great, don't care for ripped stomach. Healthy and confident yet humble. Nerds, athletic are nice too. Casual and a good friend, yet would have enough courage to ask me out, eventually, but would actually take the time to get to know me first. A good friend would be someone who would turn into friends with "benefits" which turns into a long term relationship. If you guys want a long term relationship you have to be a solid friend first.
The only reason I want a tall guy is because I'm fairly tall myself. ( 5'7" ) The shortest I would date is 5'9", so I'm not all " oh if you're under 6' goodbye " like, no. But I want them to be taller than me. Also, I find the piano 10x hotter than the guitar, so you keep rocking, Dan.
I have negative associations with British/Australiany accents and find them annoying. One the other hand, I think a subtle Asian accent is quite charming and gives me confidence when approaching a person with such an accent. Even if someone's accent is so bad that they are struggling to speak English, I find it endearing because it calls attention to the effort they are putting in to communicate with you. I used to be close friends with a Korean guy and one of the most charming things about him to me was his accent.
I'll admit having male friends can be a tricky thing but I've had many in the past (both successful and unsuccessful) and will continue to try foster the friendships as they rewarding and provide certain aspects that female friendships just don't have. Plus, yes to all those superficial things about making yourself more attractive. They would all work on me, I like arrogance and modesty and good looks and not-good looks and talent and the talentless... maybe it's just me but I can be attracted to people for the most mundane and un-obvious reasons. Such as the Double Chen, one Chen is better looking than the other, but the other one has endearing qualities the good looking one doesn't have. I recently found your show and have been binge watching episodes out of order for a few days now, You guys are so funny. This is the first video I've decided to comment on because so many things you said in the beginning are just so against my preferences.. First one, Tall guys being handsome?? I'm only 5' tall so pretty much anyone is taller than me, but I have always preferred guys under 5'10.. You have no idea how happy I am that the guy I'm currently dating is my same height! I love being able to hug him and look directly in to his eyes, rather than breaking my neck. I do have to agree that being talented does help but that's not based on someones height, That's no matter what. Being well trained in anything from a musical instrument to woodworking skills, I consider sexy because it shows a creative mind. Dan, just because general society doesn't consider piano a sexy instrument, isn't a bad thing. That simply means part of what makes you attractive weeds out the girls who likely wouldn't have much in common with you. Accents, They happen to be a weakness for me and yes it's pretty much any accent, Including Asian ones! I have a friend with a very thick Chinese accent and my knees get weak when I hear him talk. *Getting Out Of The Friend Zone 101* The things that define the friend zone are usually that you are a friend (obviously) but also - the emotional support. They depend entirely on the fact that you are always sitting on the bench waiting on them. Overly nice, eager to please, sensitive, nice, caring, and all those things their boyfriends can't seem to manage. But they'll be attracted to the assholes/jerks constantly for exactly the same reason outlined in the video here. Because they are basing their decisions on those superficial reasons, and think that a "bad boy" is just a fixer-upper and they can "fix them". So how to get out of the friend zone is simple: 1. They're attracted to the assholes with confidence. So learn to tell them no, and be a little bit of an asshole. Apathetic to their cause and uninterested in listening to their drama. Take control of the situation and act like they can step up or step out, because they aren't the center of your world. 2. Know when to be polite and treat them like a lady, and know when to treat a woman like an object. Every woman on earth will object to objectification and that "brute" primal thinking/acting, but the proof is in the pudding. Look who they're dating instead of you. Ladies, don't even try to deny it. Alpha male wins, even if you'll never openly admit it. Because when asked, you'll describe your ideal man as that guy you've friend-zoned, and then immediately date the opposite. Actions speak louder than words. 3. Don't be a total asshole/jerk. Just know when to wear the facade and give women the impression they have something to change/fix about you. 4. Take it or leave it. The bad boys act like women are a dime a dozen and are confident. If she isn't into you, it's her loss and she can/will be easily replaced. Again, ooze confidence. If you act insecure, she'll never give you a chance. see also: Alpha male mentality. That's really funny. When I was in the Philippines, you need to be in the friend zone before you can officially date a girl. Getting to know each other first before actually trying it's like the basic step. Asking a girl out without being friends first also work. But it usually just work for the attractive guys. So when I went to America when I was turning 20, I already mastered "The Art of Friendzone". Yeah.. It did not work out for me at all for my first year. I always wonder why my "Friend Girl" always have an excuse when I asked them out. And the worst part is they always talk to me about other guys. The fact that they never listen to my advice anyway is like the kick in the nuts. But ofcourse, once I figured out that you need to skip the friend zone in order to get a date, that's when things started getting better.

Well I'm only 4'10" so almost everyone is taller then me. So since I'm already so short I would never date a guy shorter than me. I have to admit I am kind of shallow but that's how most relationships start, with an initial physical attraction. Once the person opens their mouth an starts talking to me thats when I start to pass judgement on whether I want to associate with them.
Ok. I hate these friend zone debates. I've ALWAYS thought it's better to date guys (and gals if you're a guy) with whom you were already friends. I want to share with you what I found attractive about my Vietnamese husband. I'm a 5'7" white woman. He's 3 inches shorter than myself. For me, height never entered into it. But for him he felt weird about being involved with a woman that was taller than him. It made him feel less 'manly'. But what attracted me to him the most was his intelligence and the way he treated me as a human being. He treated me with dignity and respect, like I was truly important to him. We have the most interesting conversations about all sorts of topics because he likes to think and debate about things. He's also extremely talented in the musical arts. He can sing, play piano, guitar, and drums. For me, I find it very romantic when he sings to me or plays any instrument at all. It's one of the many small ways he communicates his love to me. This is important because he's not very good at expressing his feelings in words. But he knows how to get his point across in other ways. He doesn't have an 'Asian' accent of any kind since he was raised 'American'. But he can speak Vietnamese well enough to talk with his parents. I guess I'm a bit rare since I don't care about height, accents or very much at all about physical attributes. I think I'm very lucky that I learned early in my life to look beyond what your eyes show you.
Athlete one is definitely true. I'm a huge geek-loves gaming, anime, manga, poetry/classical music, where's harry potter glasses, barely 5'6, and band nerd to the fullest but when I joined sports...;D playing the saxophone definitely help though.

my youngest son was very short until he hit 17. When he was a freshman in high school he had so many girls! He had seniors on the football team, hanging out with him. They were like DUDE, HOW COME YOU HAVE SO MANY CHICKS? He was such an outgoing person that the girls over looked his height.

Haha as a short girl, I'm very sensitive to height differences. I actually appreciate your shorter than ideal guys a lot more than really tall ones. 6 ft was my cut off. Anything above that is a shallow deal breaker for me cause I just don't like the disparity in height...makes us look mismatched. I actually would prefer guys in the 5'6 - 6' range. For that reason, tall guys don't make me go gaga.
For me as a girl, height is very important. Only because I'm 183, and quite big(boned, not just fat but also big). It wouldn't look weird if someone was only smaller in frame but taller than me, but when someone is both smaller in frame and shorter than me, it would look weird. Sure, when in love nothing matters, but still ..

I like to categorize 'hot' as a different type of attractiveness-- one that's more superficial. I guess I'm unconventional since I look in my own group of friends for guys or guys that would fit in my group of friends. It gives me a good basis for what common interests and our compatibility would be. Note from a Canadian: Quebecois-French accents can be different from France-French accents, i.e., some Quebecois-French accents don't sound as hot.

I used to be really attracted to tall guys but a few years ago my taste in men completely changed because I became interested Korean pop culture. I found myself starting to be attracted to Asian guys when I had never been attracted to them before! Some of the Asian guys that I was attracted to weren't tall; eventually height no longer was a physical attribute that mattered (it helps that I am only about 5'2). Also, I think playing the piano is extremely attractive, I would say it's in the top three instruments I consider "hot"...guitar, piano and drums. P.S. When it comes to accents, it really depends on where you are and personal experience/preference. For example, I live in Britain and when asked I don't think anyone here would say that the most attractive accent for them is the British accent. I personally like any accent that is different, something that's a change from what I have to listen to everyday.

As a girl, I do agree about playing sports being attractive, but as I grow older it's more because the guy is actually being physically active and will be healthier as a result rather than anything intrinsic to the sport itself. Yes, muscles are nice, but they represent that he's not going to keel over and die of inactivity. We want to live long lives with you - you're already behind on the average lifespan, so guys pick up your sports or physical activity please!

Hey guys, this is a great topic! One thing that a lot of the guys I know talk about in relationship talks is "how do I find the right woman?" And it's kind of funny to hear these bad "one size fits all" relationship advice. The only response I can ever think of for the "right woman" question is to not focus on finding the right woman, but being yourself and being the right man, because then the "right woman" will gravitate to you. Automatically "more" attractive at first glance or outer appearance? People who shower, clean, little to no cologne. Flat stomach is great, don't care for ripped stomach. Healthy and confident yet humble. Nerds, athletic are nice too. Casual and a good friend, yet would have enough courage to ask me out, eventually, but would actually take the time to get to know me first. A good friend would be someone who would turn into friends with "benefits" which turns into a long term relationship. If you guys want a long term relationship you have to be a solid friend first.
The only reason I want a tall guy is because I'm fairly tall myself. ( 5'7" )
The shortest I would date is 5'9", so I'm not all " oh if you're under 6' goodbye " like, no. But I want them to be taller than me. Also, I find the piano 10x hotter than the guitar, so you keep rocking, Dan.
I have negative associations with British/Australiany accents and find them annoying. One the other hand, I think a subtle Asian accent is quite charming and gives me confidence when approaching a person with such an accent. Even if someone's accent is so bad that they are struggling to speak English, I find it endearing because it calls attention to the effort they are putting in to communicate with you. I used to be close friends with a Korean guy and one of the most charming things about him to me was his accent.
I'll admit having male friends can be a tricky thing but I've had many in the past (both successful and unsuccessful) and will continue to try foster the friendships as they rewarding and provide certain aspects that female friendships just don't have.
Plus, yes to all those superficial things about making yourself more attractive. They would all work on me, I like arrogance and modesty and good looks and not-good looks and talent and the talentless... maybe it's just me but I can be attracted to people for the most mundane and un-obvious reasons. Such as the Double Chen, one Chen is better looking than the other, but the other one has endearing qualities the good looking one doesn't have. I recently found your show and have been binge watching episodes out of order for a few days now, You guys are so funny. This is the first video I've decided to comment on because so many things you said in the beginning are just so against my preferences.. First one, Tall guys being handsome?? I'm only 5' tall so pretty much anyone is taller than me, but I have always preferred guys under 5'10.. You have no idea how happy I am that the guy I'm currently dating is my same height! I love being able to hug him and look directly in to his eyes, rather than breaking my neck. I do have to agree that being talented does help but that's not based on someones height, That's no matter what. Being well trained in anything from a musical instrument to woodworking skills, I consider sexy because it shows a creative mind. Dan, just because general society doesn't consider piano a sexy instrument, isn't a bad thing. *Getting Out Of The Friend Zone 101*
The things that define the friend zone are usually that you are a friend (obviously) but also - the emotional support. They depend entirely on the fact that you are always sitting on the bench waiting on them. Overly nice, eager to please, sensitive, nice, caring, and all those things their boyfriends can't seem to manage.
But they'll be attracted to the assholes/jerks constantly for exactly the same reason outlined in the video here. Because they are basing their decisions on those superficial reasons, and think that a "bad boy" is just a fixer-upper and they can "fix them".
So how to get out of the friend zone is simple:
1. They're attracted to the assholes with confidence. So learn to tell them no, and be a little bit of an asshole. Apathetic to their cause and uninterested in listening to their drama. Take control of the situation and act like they can step up or step out, because they aren't the center of your world.
2. Know when to be polite and treat them like a lady, and know when to treat a woman like an object. Every woman on earth will object to objectification and that "brute" primal thinking/acting, but the proof is in the pudding. Look who they're dating instead of you. Ladies, don't even try to deny it. Alpha male wins, even if you'll never openly admit it. Because when asked, you'll describe your ideal man as that guy you've friend-zoned, and then immediately date the opposite. Actions speak louder than words.
3. Don't be a total asshole/jerk. Just know when to wear the facade and give women the impression they have something to change/fix about you.
4. Take it or leave it. The bad boys act like women are a dime a dozen and are confident. If she isn't into you, it's her loss and she can/will be easily replaced. Again, ooze confidence. If you act insecure, she'll never give you a chance. see also: Alpha male mentality.
If you learn to _emulate_ those asshole bad-boys and it still doesn't work - she's just not into you and you can move on.

That's really funny. When I was in the Philippines, you need to be in the friend zone before you can officially date a girl. Getting to know each other first before actually trying it's like the basic step. Asking a girl out without being friends first also work. But it usually just work for the attractive guys.
So when I went to America when I was turning 20, I already mastered "The Art of Friendzone". Yeah.. It did not work out for me at all for my first year. I always wonder why my "Friend Girl" always have an excuse when I asked them out. And the worst part is they always talk to me about other guys. The fact that they never listen to my advice anyway is like the kick in the nuts.

The only things I know about the guy that I currently have the biggest crush on right now is that he is tall, plays the guitar, and dresses well... oh my god this list is so true. The guitar thing I only found out later but the tall part is definitely true for me.

Well I'm only 4'10" so almost everyone is taller then me. So since I'm already so short I would never date a guy shorter than me. I have to admit I am kind of shallow but that's how most relationships start, with an initial physical attraction. Once the person opens their mouth an starts talking to me thats when I start to pass judgement on whether I want to associate with them.
Ok. I hate these friend zone debates. I've ALWAYS thought it's better to date guys (and gals if you're a guy) with whom you were already friends. I would NEVER date guys who just came up to me, because I don't even know them! But I already know, trust and like my friends. When I was in high school watching those Asian dramas, I NEVER understood why the main girl didn't just date the guy who always supported her through her relationship. It's so WEIRD!

I want to share with you what I found attractive about my Vietnamese husband. I'm a 5'7" white woman. He's 3 inches shorter than myself. For me, height never entered into it. But for him he felt weird about being involved with a woman that was taller than him. It made him feel less 'manly'. But what attracted me to him the most was his intelligence and the way he treated me as a human being. He treated me with dignity and respect, like I was truly important to him. We have the most interesting conversations about all sorts of topics because he likes to think and debate about things. He's also extremely talented in the musical arts. He can sing, play piano, guitar, and drums. For me, I find it very romantic when he sings to me or plays any instrument at all. It's one of the many small ways he communicates his love to me. This is important because he's not very good at expressing his feelings in words. But he knows how to get his point across in other ways. He doesn't have an 'Asian' accent of any kind since he was raised 'American'. But he can speak Vietnamese well enough to talk with his parents. I guess I'm a bit rare since I don't care about height, accents or very much at all about physical attributes. I think I'm very lucky that I learned early in my life to look beyond what your eyes show you.
Athlete one is definitely true. I'm a huge geek-loves gaming, anime, manga, poetry/classical music, where's harry potter glasses, barely 5'6, and band nerd to the fullest but when I joined sports...;D playing the saxophone definitely help though.
I'm particularly short myself...I hate guys that are too tall because I feel like I have to stand on my tip toes to kiss him. And then compared to him, people think I'm his little sister. lol To add, I think shorter guys are not as arrogant. I once was into a tall guy when I was young, but he was so arrogant and full of himself when I got to know him. And all the other ones I knew were this way too.
BTW, piano is VERY sexy. Any man that can play an instrument is sexy...unless he plays the trombone...
And I disagree that men and women can't be friends. If they are absolutely unattractive to each other, it is possible. I dress really boyish to the point most men think I'm butch. lol Most of my guy friends have told me they only see me as a friend. Only two have actually really liked me. It depends on how that person carries themselves.
Also, women will make you a friend.
my youngest son was very short until he hit 17. When he was a freshman in high school he had so many girls! He had seniors on the football team, hanging out with him. They were like DUDE, HOW COME YOU HAVE SO MANY CHICKS?

Haha as a short girl, I'm very sensitive to height differences. I actually appreciate your shorter than ideal guys a lot more than really tall ones. 6 ft was my cut off. Anything above that is a shallow deal breaker for me cause I just don't like the disparity in height...makes us look mismatched. I actually would prefer guys in the 5'6 - 6' range. For that reason, tall guys don't make me go gaga.
For me as a girl, height is very important. Only because I'm 183, and quite big(boned, not just fat but also big). It wouldn't look weird if someone was only smaller in frame but taller than me, but when someone is both smaller in frame and shorter than me, it would look weird. Sure, when in love nothing matters, but still ..
As an asian girl living in an asian country, I'm considered taller than the other girls and you know what? Asian guys here hated it! They find taller girls as not cute enough and kinda intimidating for them
Also, no matter how slim you get, you're always considered big! Moreover, when you work out, you're considered more manly than the guys!

Oh and also, I'm 6'2" and have a British accent, and have largely no success with women (I'm in high school, and it's partly due to apathy). Sadly, the British accent isn't as appreciated in Britain where it's rather common, and I also feel like my height can sometimes seem intimidating because most girls I know are at least 6-8 inches shorter than me, with quite a few over a foot shorter :/

Beauty / Attraction is of course, subjective. It can change over the course of a lifetime. Hopefully going from a baseline physical attraction to more intrinsic character and personality traits.

I like to categorize 'hot' as a different type of attractiveness-- one that's more superficial.
I guess I'm unconventional since I look in my own group of friends for guys or guys that would fit in my group of friends. It gives me a good basis for what common interests and our compatibility would be.
