Mam, I can check in trade tariff for frozen fish VAT and commodity code, but frozen fish VAT mention 0% but third country duty is 8%..

If it's just samples in small quantities, you can definitely bring it under your personal name. Only thing to make sure is it gets delivered to your home address. As you might not be able to clear it at the airport.
So better to double check with your freight forwarder or courier

@@sardesaisantosh Yes they are called Freight forwarders. They can clear the gooda for you and arrange transportation locally too. Are you talking about sea freight or air freight?

Very informative info! thanks! quick question- We had ordered Samples from China and it was sent by DHL air freight and we didn't provide EORI but then DHL asked us to pay Tax/VAT online which we did and it was delivered to us within a week or so. Now we are ordering the actual consignment and again going to use DHL route so our question is this time do we have to have EORI number? or this can be delivered the way samples were delivered and we pay tax/VAT to DHL? what is the best way? please advise?
Hi Anand, Yes you will need an EORI number even for selling small quantities too.
DO we also need to Request for CHIEF access (C1800)?

Hi Nisha, thank you for the video. If i import from China Baby products to sell on Amazon and opt for DDP (Door to Door), do I need import license or my freight forwarder will manage this part and pay for custom duty?
Hi Firoz, If you require Import license, you will have to apply yourself. Not all products need license. You will have to find out if you need license for baby products or not.
Regarding paying custom duty, some freight forwarders can pay to HMRC on your behalf. And then they will invoice you after that.

Yes definitely recommend to use a freight forwarder. The rules and paperwork have changed recently and becoming more complicated these days! So definitely they will be updated with all those information

For VAT customs, when providing goods value, do you need to state shipping costs to hmrc when taking in to account VAT import charges.
Its only the goods value on which the VAT is calculated

I work through my own UK limited company for IT services but now planning to start import business as a beginner. Can I use my existing IT limited company to get EORI number? Thank in advance. Hi Nisha... I am not into trade or any other business. Just for my own personal needs, I import goods such as 2 sarees from India using a courier where I paid Rs. 2650/- for delivery. But still I was levied custom duty for £23 for the goods worth £65. Can I reclaim the amount ? What should be done to avoid HMRC not levy import duty?

Unfortunately there isn't anything we can do to avoid Import duty. Unless it's a sample showing the value of the goods is near to Zero, then you might not get charged. But otherwise you will have to pay. You can reclaim Vat if you are Vat registered, but not Duty

Hi
There aren't any ports that has specific advantages. It depends on where you or your customer is based in the UK. The best option is to find the closest one to you, so you can get it shipped to the closest port, else the road transport can be very expensive. If you are based near London, the most popular are Felixstowe and London Gateway.

As I understand, there is a Free trade between the UK and EU. So will not need customs declaration. But still would be good to check with your supplier in Poland. And your courier here in UK

You didnt mention about DDP model,? İf İ agree with my supplier on DDP, do i have to do anything with Customs,arent The goods needs to be delivered to the adrress that i want? Do i have still need all those reistrations? İs there any disadvantage of DDP model?
Hi Cihan, When doing DDP model, the seller assumes all the responsibilities and the costs of goods. For you as a buyer, it is definitely beneficial. But mostly for large shipments, the seller doesnt take the reponsibility abroad, as the customs procedure etc can be different. With small air freight orders with DHL, Fedex etc, they might do that. But if your seller offers that, you can definitely consider that. Only thing to double check is, are they charging you the right amount for shipping, Duty, VAT, clearance etc. They might add extra costs in to it.

Hello Chandrasekhar, For importing into the UK, you do not need license for most of the products. So it will be good to check 1st if you need it or not

If it's under your personal name, you will most probably not need EORI number.
Pls confirm with the courier that they will do the clearance and delivery to your home address after it reaches the UK.

Hi, yes you can do it yourself too. But it's really not easy. So it would be great to get in touch with a freight forwarder to get all the clearance etc done for you

If it's DDP, it means it's Duty & Delivery paid. Which means he covers everything. But always double check with your supplier and courier company till where is the delivery

Yes definitely Liam. You can bring in mixed pallets with 2 or more items on it
If I'm VAT registered and buy goods from a supplier on Alibaba, do I give them my EORI number so they give it to FedEx? Or do I need to have some kind of import account with FedEx? This part of the process is confusing to me, I want to make sure that I pay the correct amount of import tax etc and that I have the necessary paperwork to reclaim import VAT.
Hi, I personally haven't imported through FedEx. But as far as I am aware, you do not need to give the EORI number. When the goods reach UK, the HMRC/Customs will contact you to pay the duty/Levy, after which the goods will be released. But do check with your supplier regarding the Incoterms and till where they cover the cost. And will they do the clearance in the UK and deliver it to your address
