A lot of sports have their legends but if you asked me who's the biggest legend of any sport it has to be the man "Tony Hawk" and the sport "Skateboarding". What other sport has one person had such an impact... maybe Michael Jordan in Basketball but Nike marketing him to people has a lot to do with that. Tony Hawk never had a brand like that pushing him.
It's amazing the longevity that Tony Hawk has had. He's around 11 years older than me, but I remember being a very young kid and skateboarding and he was a pro then. And then all he has accomplished, and given back to skateboarding. Even after I stopped skateboarding 20+ years ago is around when THPS and those games came out. I played most of them endlessly. He is someone I very much looked up to, and he was a good role model for younger skateboarders to have all these decades up til this very day. He's our Michael Jordan. An absolute living legend. Much love and respect to Tony Hawk.

Tony is such a chill, genuine, kind human being. He does not deserve Da Bomb inflicted upon him! But he handled it like a pro, man. Just like he does with everything else. What a boss.
Chill or boring asf? Except for his extraordinary athleticism and business sense. A person like me would never know who TH is. And my bro skate borded in NY in that late 70's in Brooklyn.

Tony came to my junior high around 1987-1988 (Oak Crest) to give us a pep talk. I remember how chill and down to earth he was. He must have only been pro for a couple years at that time. He was telling us to stay in school, stay away from drugs, and dare to dream. I'm glad he's made a name for himself in the history books.

There’s just something about the skater community that even though I don’t skate, I love it and am fascinated by it. Love Tony! Great episode, as usual!
I skated for maybe a year when I was 14 and was trash but still love to watch people skate. I’m in my 30s and I’m trash at golf but also love to watch people golf lol
I'm 74. I first started skate boarding in Seattle as early as 1963. We stole the trucks/wheels off of the roller skates at the local skating rink. There were no skateboard shops or parks. We primarily went for speed down hills. I broke a finger once during a local competition held in a parking lot. My trick was a 360 spin on the rear wheels then I fell. We once got pulled over by the local police for speeding down a hill. He used his lights to pull us over, but since we didn't have brakes, we had to just let it run out at the bottom of the hill. We were not looked at very favorably back then. In the early 70s, in Palo Alto, we once again started boarding. With the new wheels it was into empty swimming pools that had been drained. Everyone built their own boards, I still have mine in solid oak, flat.
I've loved Tony Hawk since I was a kid in 1998 skating almost every day.. don't skate at all anymore though I can still probably do a kickflip if given a few minutes. He's always struck me as a very kind person and I don't think skateboarding could have had a better "household name" representative. I believe Tony Hawk IS the reason kids these days have "so much access...foam pits etc" as he said.
Tony Hawk is just the perfect example for anyone who cares about something deeply. If you're into knitting or drone racing, be the champion for your passion like he is. Even if it fails to take off, you have that mentality of taking your passion to others. I think hes a model example for the pinnacle of human achievement and general humbleness, as long as they wont destroy him, send him to the aliens as an example of what a human can be.
The fact that he mentioned Foy for the perfect pinch during a semi-casual interview (he ain’t wrong), is amazing. I’d be screaming like a little girl if I was him.
Tony and Bob Burnquist will always be the best for me, they are the two that I have always followed since the beginning of the 90s! Always with incredible performances!
Tony Hawk is the guy that made my parents give skateboarding a second try. They liked his style and his attitude, and that he always wore his helmet and pads. Also, as far as skaters go, this guy can take some pain.
@@CodeBleu724 YES! Love Andy Anderson. Such amazing style, and the helmet + hair combo makes him look really cool (plus his cool tricks make him look cool)
“Skate Jam” could be the movie for a generation. Bugs and Tony struggle with their place in a changing landscape as they age. Relevant to every kid in the 90’s.
While I never got around getting my own skateboard (due to being very afraid of injuries), I cannot overstate the significance Tony Hawk has had in my life from the early teenage years to this day through the video games. Such an important part of my life as a hobby and something I always think about fondly.
Met Tony and got his autograph at X games when i was maybe an 8th grader and he was just such a cool guy. So mellow and kind to all. There's a reason why Tony is respected by so many. He paved the way for many young skaters and his games were easily some of the most addicting games even with no online presence.
This dude was the peak athlete of my childhood. When others were looking at Michael Jordan or other big names in sports, I was awed by Tony Hawk. Dude is a treasure and an all around good dude.
I met Tony Hawk a few times growing up in Carlsbad, such a nice guy. He usually had a bunch of kids on skateboards following him around. I also just saw him at When We Were Young in Las Vegas a week ago where he sang Superman with Goldfinger, so epic!
This man is a living legend ! Thank you for making my childhood with those amazing games and amazing soundtracks. Tony hawk pro skater 1 all the way to underground 1, will always have a special place inside of me
I always appreciate that I grew up at such a great time for skating: watched the 900, bought a PlayStation with paper route money and pro skater 1 and we would all sit around and take turns , try to replicate wild Rodney Mullen Casper slides, built a skate park in the neighborhood and had everyone there every night. Just feel blessed for those late 90s memories. This man is a hero!

As a kid born in the '80s and growing though the '90s i can honestly say that Tony Hawk is one of the most legendary icons in the history of sports, on par with Michael Jordan etc. Im from Greece and skateboarding was never a big thing here, but if you saw someone skating in the '90s and 00's and asked why they started skating, their answer would be 100% "because of Tony Hawk". Ansolute LEGEND
Grew up in the 90s and this man was just an icon to me. He seems so humble and sweet in real life too ❤
💯
Tony is such a chill, genuine, kind human being. He does not deserve Da Bomb inflicted upon him! But he handled it like a pro, man. Just like he does with everything else. What a boss.
Chill or boring asf? Except for his extraordinary athleticism and business sense. A person like me would never know who TH is. And my bro skate borded in NY in that late 70's in Brooklyn.
@traceythompson1092 cool story bro when someone cares we’ll email you.
Tony's a gift to this world.
facts. should I Drop out of school to BECOME the greatest artist ever❓🙏
@@GeeManFigdo NOT dropout to become an artist in any way🗣️
Tony Hawk is so chill and positive! What a cool guy! Has one of the most chillest responses to da bomb. Just calls it gnarly. And he is nice to Sean the whole time! What a neat fella! Big hearted and he has this youthful way about him. He is a joy! 💚💚💚
One of the biggest sports icons in history right there. He is what you call a pioneer and a legend! Tony needs to get a chance at Skate Jam!
i really truly think sean is THE GREATEST INTERVIEWER OF ALL TIME. there are a lot of greats out there, amelia dimz, alex cooper, but sean just has this comforting presence to allow guests to open up while also coming up with the most interesting questions to really let you into a celebs life without exploiting anything personal… its so rare a skill & he does it all while his mouth is fully ON FIREE 👏🏼👏🏼 GOAT.

Andy Anderson is the next ambassador. On the Powell-Peralta team. Always wears his helmet. Nice kid.
I know what you mean head injuries are no joke
as 90s teenager, we saw the "skate fail/slam" videos when they where happening!
protective gear saved a whole bunch of limbs & lifes, just not ballz 😣
@@eternallife9786 As a survivor of a head trauma wound, and still has chronic nerve damage 3+ years later. I agree. Protect your heads everyone.
Tony Hawk is an example of being an incredible man and does so much for communities and its how we should strive to be.
While I never got around getting my own skateboard (due to being very afraid of injuries), I cannot overstate the significance Tony Hawk has had in my life from the early teenage years to this day through the video games. Such an important part of my life as a hobby and something I always think about fondly.
Tony is an absolute treasure, such an icon! Cannot say enough great things about him, so much love and respect for him!
I love hearing him talk! He's so smart, charismatic, down to earth and funny!
I cant recall ever literally cheering out loud because of a guest on Hot Ones! Tony Hawk , what a freaking legendary guy!
An episode of Hot Ones and not on a Thursday? I'm in heaven!
😃 what a pleasant surprise. I agree!
Right im confused
those sauces are from an earlier season
Thats awesome! and The Hawkster to boot!!
Right??
Major part of my childhood, and the man hasnt aged a day. God bless the King of Skateboarding.
I only own one autograph and it's none other than Tony Hawk. Dude is an absolute legend in and out of the skatepark.
One of my childhood heroes and a sincerely nice guy. Great to see him on here sharing the love. Great job as always, Sean.
he's certainly a great role model, a legend, but how is he a hero?
@@linebrunelle1004 to a young, unpopular kid who rode a skateboard, another young kid who rode a skateboard and became a worldwide celebrity for it can look an awful lot like a hero.
Tony is the best. Actually eats his food and talks from the heart. What a great interview. We need "Skate Jam."
Sean always brings his ‘A’ game to an interview, but I don’t know if I’ve ever seen him more excited than at the prospect of ‘Skate Jam’ and interviewing Tony Hawk.
Tony Hawk, the Legend!
Yessssir
Man... this guy had such a big impact on my childhood and my taste in music. Glad he's still awesome and humble as ever.
Given that skaters have often been viewed in a negative light over the years, skaters are really lucky to have someone as chill and humble as Tony be the spokesperson for the sport for the last few decades.
What an awesome guest Tony is! He's an incredible human being!
While my heart and support go out to the actor’s in their rightful strike, it’s actually really cool to see the awesome lineup of non-actors Hot Ones has been getting this season.
A true Athelete, Entrepreneur, and Visionary. Bravo Sean on a wonderful interview.
Can I ask. Have you ever rode a skateboard or do you know Tony from pop culture, no shade I'm just curious how far his influence actually reaches
@sirKonradical Yep, I used to ride when I was younger. Tony's ability ro ride and represent his era are truly well documented. His business acumen to grow his sport is something that could and should be taught as a college course. And his vision for a global sport and lifestyle is what history will be writing about for decades.
@@sirKonradicalI skated early 2000s-2010 in Socal, we had black and Latino gang members in LA sometime rock his hats and definitely played his game, the man embodied free spirit even in the gang ridden ghettos of LA

They got Tony Hawk and Flea, both legends I idolized through my childhood. Even though I was born in 2000 I still felt the influence of these two and it is a shame that these episodes are not as big as they should be.
Man, Tony Hawk's voice just pierces through my soul, I've always wanted to be a skateboarder but I never was brave enough to get on a skateboard. I did own one at one point but the roads where I was living was worse than a camel's back. Tony is and always will be the best sportsman ever.
I didn't watch the new Space Jam but I would CERTAINLY go see a Skate Jam!! S/O Tony Hawk for coming back and continuing to be a LEGEND!!
My skating hero,Hes the reason i started skating when i was 15 im 36 now,We love you man.
A true legend..tony has been a key part of the growth of skating internationally..he is an incredible representative of the sport and example of where it can take you if you commit..
I was never a skater but I can honestly say Tony Hawk influenced his sport more than any other person in any other sport as far as advancement in my lifetime anyways. I was born in ‘72. He is the GOAT in that category.
Embodies grunge, punk rock, hip-hop/rap, skating, freedom, being on the streets as a kid, iconic game and the list goes on. This man is one of the purest avatars of the 90s
He is such an influence on not only American culture but World culture. He made such an impact on sports, skate culture, fashion, video games and so much more. He's a living legend and would love to see SKATE JAM get made because he does a lot of amazing things and this would help him do so many more. ✌️
Flea and Tony back to back episodes amazing choice of guests this season!
I never tried skate but knew his name in the 90's, I admire and respect him a lot, is such a humble person! It's a living legend!
I feel increasingly bad for people who do this now versus when it all started. Sauces back then were like Cholula and Tapatio. Tony Hawk is a fantastic individual that I grew up seeing and appreciating even though I wasn't a skater. His Twitter stories about people asking if he's really Tony Hawk are legendary.
used to replay his training VHS over and over and over to learn how to kickflip lol. The video games were so huge growing up, and I actually just installed the recent remakes like a few days ago coincidentally. Anyone remember when he was on Rocket Power too? Thanks Tony, you are a Legend.
I was obsessed with that episode of rocket power with him
Has to be the most humble and chill guy ever. Love his energy
Still will never forget running into then livingroom watching him hit the 900 for the 1st time...WE FREAKED THE F OUT. LEGEND!!!
You shouldn’t run inside 🫵🏻
This guy helped me so much with the skateboarding games. Tony is a national treasure.
Tony hawk is one of the reasons why I got into skateboarding, punk/metal, playing guitar, going to live shows, etc. Growing up in Arizona it was mostly hip hop/rap gangsta swagg.... This was definitely an outlet to express ourselves in a different genre
I Love Tony. Always so humble, no drama, no gossip. Living the dream, man.
One of the most humble and kind hearted person. Much love to Tony ❤
I remember meeting Tony Hawk at my local mall as a kid. He came to sign shoes at one of the Billabong stores (if I remember correctly) and he shook my hand, which I’ll never forget.
Tony is the man! The myth and the legend! No possible way to deny it either yet so humble. A true role model.
As a San Diego native born and raised, I couldn’t be more proud to claim him as one of our own! Such an incredible dude.
Same! Doesn’t get better as a San Diego native son
Tony Hawk Underground 1&2 WAS MY LIFE IN SCHOOL I loved em so much!!

What an absolute unit! He's been going for years and still promotes what he loves!
Tony's an icon, and it's cool to see him wear that distinction with pride. He seems like a cool dude.
I'm 10 years older than Tony and being an East coast kid king of missed out on skateboarding but not enough to not keep an eye on just what great athleted these kid doping it were. But until i saw the documentary until the wheels fall off i had no idea what an amazing human being he is. He earned and deserves ever cent he ever made, more actually
Tony is just all around a great example of a successful person. At the end of the day he is still a cool and relatively humble person. Kudos
T Hawk is the most applauded pop culture athlete in my lifetime. 🤘🏽 Keep it Brutal Brother.
If you don't mind me asking? Did you ever skateboard, or do you just know Tony from pop culture? I'm just curious how far his influence has reached
Since I was 8 years old, 2 1/2 years before the movie Back to the Future.
@chefheli nice! Yeah whenever I see Tony I always wonder how many people watching him don't or haven't skateboarded
I probably logged more hours playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 than any other video game ever. The soundtrack and spots you could skate were the best. Also many fond memories of watching those first XGames as a kid growing up.
Tony Hawk's been killin' it since the 80s.
Absolute LEGEND!!!
The guy is a legend. He's got more experience showing but still going strong! Not to mention coming back again for another round of Hot Wings. Well done Tony!
I really love the background music choices, not /s they're just really well done and match the feel of each part really well.
