What real-world read/write speeds are you seeing with the G-drive? Specs say 270/280, but curious what it’s like with day-to-day use. Thanks!

on your 12tb drive, do you see it drastically slow down when transferring large amounts of data? I have a couple of the WD MyBooks, and they come to a crawl when copying 1-2tb. from what I've read, it's a way the hard drive regulates itself to reduce vibrations/harmonics/overheating etc, and super-curious if the G-Drives do this. thanks!
The keyword is "WD MyBooks" G-drives are professional drives, even the HDDs perform much faster on data transfers than other brands. They are built exactly for that. I have an old G drive 4tb HDD that has outlasted a bunch of my SSDs and HDDs. Working off it, you'd never know it was an HDD. It's as quiet and fast as my Samsung T7 shield SSDs! Literally every single HD failure I've had has been a WD drive.
are the 22tb ones good for backup storage ? I don't need the big unit to work off just to store video photos after edit ...any cheaper solutions u know of just to store . I'm looking for a 16-22tb external just to store footage only . I use a Mac Studio ultra
Yes these are great for backup storage. Prime Day is coming up in October. I am hoping the price comes down on some of these then!
Just mounted the 22tb on my pc but it's only showing about 20tb...where's the 2 tb!!
@@ShyYoung I thought as much. The partion you are not allowed to delete is about 200mb,,,so am wondering where is the rest.
This piece of crap drive cost me 2 full days of work productivity. stay away!!! get a solid state!
