Norfolk Southern Trains Using CSX Tracks & Diverging, Interchange Trains, Railroad Station Update

- 4 Locomotive Mixed Freight At Favorite Railroad Crossing, Canadian National Included. Moved Train Station Update & Trains At The Norfolk Southern & CSX Railroad Interchange. A Remote Control Thing Was On The Sidewalk While Train With DPU Was Passing. These trains are in Hamilton, Ohio.
The first train has CSX, Union Pacific and Canadian National power. It is a manifest passing my favorite railroad crossing where I film the crossing runners. The abandoned paper mill buildings by the tracks might have some future activity if the rumours are correct. This area is being redeveloped and we will see the area where the new hotels will be built. One railroad crossing will be closed for sure and possibly another. Hopefully the new changes to the area will take the Railfan into consideration. I also show my radio up close again while the defect detector is activated.
Next we see the update on progress of the train station. Not much has happened since I showed it a month ago but at least there has been some progress. A CSX intermodal train passes while I was next to the parking lot where the new hotels will be built.
Then a huge Norfolk Southern train with a DPU on the rear shows up running southbound on the CSX line. It is seen diverging From CSX tracks and onto Norfolk Southern tracks. As I have explained before CSX and NS do directional operations on these tracks. The CSX line is predominantly northbound while the NS line is southbound. There are exceptions, obviously. Notice when the NS locomotive shoving on the rear approaches, a worker at the parking lot is using remote control to operate a Do-Ma-Hicky on the sidewalk. Whatever that thing is, it is pretty cool. I want one.
The video also features Matt from Railfan Depot ( Cincinnati ) giving the but wait there's more line. He has some awesome videos on his channel so check him out.
We also have the slide show at the end that comes from the video and we can see the Live Action Pets as they play and make messes in the house. They are a lot of work but they are part of the family.

JT, the guy drilling in the parking lot was taking core samples to find out the bearing capacity of the soil so they would know what kind of foundation the building would need.

That’s a great video JT, loved the GE sounds at the end. I’m 67 on Monday the 22nd of April and I’ll be celebrating with a couple of your videos in the afternoon, my wife is off out somewhere so it’s feet up and a beverage yet to be decided!
Howdy JT! Really cool catch there at the beginning! That lash up was unique for sure. All they needed was a BNSF loco lol. And I think they had just about every major type of rolling stock on that train lol. If I had to guess, I'd say that guy was using that machine to drill core samples. Most municipalities require core samples before construction begins on new structures. I believe you said that was where the new hotels were going in? They do the cores samples looking for contaminated soil, or possible buried tanks.

That train with 632 axles, like you said, had 152 cars 156 with the 4 engines. Counting 6 axles per engine, take 24 of 632, which brings it down to 608 axles. I needed a calculator. Thank you for another railfanning video from Hamilton, Ohio with an update on the progress on the depot, Jaw Tooth! The trains were interesting to watch as they passed your camera. The most obvious update is the addition of new windows. I am surprised to see that they have not put a blue tarp over that hole in the roof of the two-story portion of the depot to protect the interior. That was an interesting remote-controlled contraption to move 55-gallon steel drums.

Your picture of the portable drilling rig is pretty cool. Is is designed to collect core samples of the soil beneath the future hotel property. The samples will be used to identify geotechnical conditions for foundation constructions and to identify any contamination that might be present in the soils and groundwater beneath the property to adversely affect human health and the environment. Pretty cool stuff.

That first train consist was an amazing catch! That's a very rare consist! It's rare to see foreign power on a CSX to start with, not to mention 2 pieces of foreign power and it's very very rare that Union Pacific and Canadian National are on the same train!

Great video. I wonder if the lag on the station rehab is funding? That's what happened to the locomotive in our city park. It was going to be refurbished and put back in service for tourist runs. Alas, funding was lost and it still idly sits guarding the park since 1960...

There were 4 locomotives at the head (CSX, UP, CN, and CSX. The old depot has windows; that's an improvement.

As far as our friend Mark hobo shoestring he will always be in our hearts and we will feel close to him every time we remember the journeys that he went on as well as the information that he shared with us about trains. I just hope they can find out why the poor man died in a lake. We all hope no foul play came to him. We as in his channel followers. We will come to peace once we know what exactly happened to him for him to end up dead in a lake. Yes hobo shoestring in a good way with one of a kind

The drill rig in the parking lot is drilling a monitor well to look for soil or water contamination before they do excavation work for the Hotel.

I'm from Battle Creek Mich JT and CN and Norfolk Southern is what we have here
Very nice place to start off a new video you have uploaded in 2 hours say I do get trains in my area have you been to Pendleton pike they do have a railroad crossing their you should go there to film trains I do see some in that area so be sure to go Pendleton pike you can for sure film trains
where i live for some reason CSX has their signal lights lit in areas of high people traffic. i went up to the station in my town and it was green I waited for a few hours nothing came by. then i noticed that they are always on. either solid yellow, green or red. Out in the country about 10 miles from anywhere at a rural station thee signals are dark till a train is in the block to lite the signal. CSX I think does a great job on maintenance. i have to laugh though at points of high visibility they do an extra good job on bright ballast on their tracks. I was in the next state over and Norfolk Southern used red ballast rock, looed really nice.
Looks like the depot is pretty well set in place
The one in Hamilton is the one I was referring to.
