Your life is totally different before marrying too. So that's a strange reason to keep the name. However I don't get why people are mad, it's her life afterall.
Society may have put her in a specific category because of who she was married too, but the fact that she has worked tirelessly to break through those challenges, speaks volumes about the woman she is. Idk about using the kids' names at school as an example. I had a different last name when my mom got married to my stepdad when I was 1. It didn’t bother me that I had a different last name. I was being taken care of and loved properly so the name didn’t matter. So I don’t think the kids care as long as there is stability, understanding, love, and peace in the home, I doubt they’d care about the last name. I feel you hang on to the last name because a part of you can’t let go of what once was. However, she does look amazing, and glad she found healing ❤️
The last name difference is ok for some but most kids whether they admit it does bother them because they are asked by their peers or others …WHY is your last name different ? Is that your birth parent ? Effects people differently, others brush it off.

I don’t know about the name thing in America but I am African and Muslim in both my cultures and religion the women always keep their own last name even after marriage. And if you have the children always carry the father’s name . Even after divorce they keep their father last name . Her name has been her working brand too for several years so most women who use their name in careers where it’s featured nationally usually keep same name even if they marry . Some hyphen and add a name so their base name is still visible. It’s tricky for women who marry someone who is or becomes super successful because normally they won’t marry again on that status or higher again especially when your ex is a superstar.
