Everytime you change the dies for variable pitches? Or single die make all the pitches. 2. Die angle it's relate to 3 types of gaps. My question is something about calculation. I am interested in this can anyone tell the mathematical equation that I can use to calculate the sheet metal dia so that after stretching, it get its required dia ready to fit inside the cylindrical shell. I mean the diameter of actual flat sheet is larger than the final required dia. Anyone know that how to do that calculation. If you have link of the info please share. Hi Dru, The operator will enter all of the finished flight dimensions into the touch screen on the machine and the PLC will then calculate all appropriate machine settings for the accurate forming of the said flights, including the forming gap. At this point the reliance on the operator to consistently return to the same position and apply the same pressure is eliminated because the machine returns to exactly the same forming position every time ensuring consistent forming of the flight. It doesn't matter really, so long as the operator does not rotate it too much, because the press tooling's anvil and punch dies, are shaped to the flight's finished profile, and so long as there is an overlap between the flight metal of each forming stroke cycle, then the finished flight will end up conforming to the required shape ! So there you have it !

My question is something about calculation. I am interested in this can anyone tell the mathematical equation that I can use to calculate the sheet metal dia so that after stretching, it get its required dia ready to fit inside the cylindrical shell. I mean the diameter of actual flat sheet is larger than the final required dia. Anyone know that how to do that calculation. If you have link of the info please share. But I know there must be some manual calculation. Please help by replying.

The operator will enter all of the finished flight dimensions into the touch screen on the machine and the PLC will then calculate all appropriate machine settings for the accurate forming of the said flights, including the forming gap. At this point the reliance on the operator to consistently return to the same position and apply the same pressure is eliminated because the machine returns to exactly the same forming position every time ensuring consistent forming of the flight.

I used the same formula to make the impeller blades for my jet boat unit. It took hours to make four blades though.....

How does the operator know how much to rotate for each bend?
It doesn't matter really, so long as the operator does not rotate it too much, because the press tooling's anvil and punch dies, are shaped to the flight's finished profile, and so long as there is an overlap between the flight metal of each forming stroke cycle, then the finished flight will end up conforming to the required shape ! So there you have it !
