Def an underrated topic, can you make a more in depth part two? Where you walk through a mock talking head interview type of thing, and show how you’d match the colorimeter part and exposures! Thanks!
Hi. Nice video, but while you were correct to state that a light meter in incident mode measures the amount (or intensity) of light falling on the subject, I think it was incorrect to say that an incident light meter will give you a middle gray exposure reading. Sekonic's own website states, "Because incident metering reads the intensity of light falling on the subject, it provides readings that will create accurate and consistent rendition of the subject’s tonality, color, and contrasts REGARDLESS of reflectance, background color, brightness, or subject textures." That's why (as in Sekonic's own example), if an incident light meter reading of the light falling on a white plate, a gray plate, and a black plate is f/16 at 1/125 of a second (at a given ISO), a DSLR camera using that exposure setting will faithfully render a photo of a white plate, a gray plate, and a black plate, and not a middle gray rendition of each plate. But a white, gray, and black plate WILL be rendered as middle gray using reflective metering mode (or in-camera spot metering) readings of each of those same plates under the same light. Questions: If, as you say, an incident meter gives you a middle gray reading, then why make the distinction between reflective metering and incident metering? Why would a handheld light meter have an incident mode and a reflective mode in the first place, if each mode gives you the same middle gray reading? According to Sekonic, clearly there's a difference between incident and reflective metering. Thanks.
Nice demo but where are the photo samples? You need to show how effective they are versus not using it.
I guess Im kinda off topic but do anybody know of a good place to watch new tv shows online?
@Sonny Ashton Meh I would suggest flixportal. Just google for it :D -kai
@Kai Ramon Thank you, I went there and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it!!
good job for good start!
Hi, great demonstration. It seems that Lumu Power is no longer available. Does anyone have any info on whether or not they are still in business, where to obtain one or what is a comparable alliterative? Thanks!
As far as I know it is still a curremt product. Try lu.mu
It looks liek B&H may not have current stock at the moment and backordered through Adorama. I woudl reach out to Lumu directly.
Thank you for providing knowledge as well as great viewing material for the pizza I just ordered
Sure thing. I hope the pizza was good!
Hi! What light meter you may please suggest for cinema screens FL and colour caliberation in an economical price range
Thanks
What is your budget?
Awesome - looking forward to these!
Thanks Mark!
Does the Lumu Power 2 measure CRI color renser index ??
It meters color and shows you green/magenta shifts but doesn't have a CRI readout. That would be something like the Sekonic C-800
Thanks for the overview!
Zahi Farah For sure!
That was amazing, great info, love it, I think I have to change to iPhone (I'm a Mac user, but don't like iPhone) to get one of those babies and sell my old Sekonic.
Agreed on the value of the Lumu!
The only down side...it’s so easy to lose in your bag! It’s tiny!
Rick Urbanowski Very true!
You can keep it in your pocket.
On the other side, I have Sekonic L-858D, and often do not take it with me as 1) it does not fit into my pocket 2) it does not fit into my backpack (no space left), and 3) it does not measure color temperature. I will look into buying Lumu.
Such a great video! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks
I'm sold.
Thank u a lot for the info
I actually bought the Sekonic L-858D and happened to hear about this accessory for (iPhone 8?) and thought it would be good for Color Temperature since I’ll be shooting a play with Tungsten lights over the stage... but LEDs Intellytech and Aputure for the up Close shooting of actors... any thoughts???
For sure. It’s designed to work with LEDs.
So basically the idea would be to match the color temperate of the LEDs with the Tungsten and gels any shift in color (unless the lit parts can be isolate so the the background of the set could be 3200k warm and subdued while keeping the actors (in gorgeous colorful costumes) in LED daylight?)

Nice video Cem :) that lumu Power iPhone Light Meter looks interessting:) did you test it against the Sekonic Spectromaster C-700? are esspecialy the color messurements simliar?
I did. Not nearly as many features but readings were very similar.

@@theC47 What was the Kelvin number on the Sekonic??? Why on earth didn't you show that in your video?
Thank you!
Sure thing!
Does the Sekonic Color Meter measure SSI?
The New Sekonic C-800 measures SSI.
What Ab said and hopefully I can do a video on it soon!
Mi Lumu se ha roto después de 2 semanas y la empresa no contesta para repararlo o devolverlo.. ha sido una gran decepción en mi caso!! :(
Hey man! I'd love to make you a cool intro track if you're interested. I do sound design, commercial music, and cinematic music on a regular basis. If you're interested, I can send you a few examples of what I've done and if you like it, we can talk about something custom for you. (On the house if you'll give me a nice shout out ;)
I’m definitely interested. I want something 8 bit. Think 80s video games.
Thoughts?
Ohh a challenge... ;) I usually do acoustic stuff, or sound design with live sampled stuff, but I loved the soundtrack to Stranger Things, and that sounds like something more in your direction... just not quite so dark and dramatic maybe haha
Let me mess around with some stuff and see if you like it. If not, I can just use it for my Instagram or something haha
How's this? I kind of combined the 8 bit thing with some cinematic vibe. I also gave it a melodic theme, so you have your own theme song now. Not sure I got the vibe you wanted though, it's a little light on the 8bit and a little heavy on the Stranger Things. Let me know what you think. If you like it, or if I should go back to the drawing board and get my 8bit chops up. Haha

Hey Grant!
Sorry for the delayed reply. I've been on two projects over the past few days.
I really really dig it but I need something that times with my current intro in terms of length, animated elements and sound design. I plan to update graphic elements in there to be more 8 bit I just had to get something up for the launch of the reboot.
Maybe we can chat by phone on Monday.
Go to theC47.com/contact and we can share contact info.
You are also in no way at all obligated to this in any way.
Cool?
What's your URL BTW?

This is a expensive too, better buy a good real light meter
I'd rather pay $1700. That plus the iPhone cause just about the same price
