- Building A Custom Shoulder Rig On A Budget // NiceyRIG Products
So I teamed up with the team at NiceyRig to show you how to build a custom shoulder rig on a budget using NiceyRig products. I love NiceyRig products because they are really good quality, but also not super expensive at the same time.
The NiceyRig custom shoulder rig that I built actually ended up being much smaller than I originally thought it would be, which was a bonus and is a pretty decent price compared to others on the market.
I've also included some shoulder rig vs handheld footage to show just how much of a difference it makes to stabilizing footage.

Do any of you have or use a shoulder rig? My back thanks me every time I look at it 😂
I need a mid body rig cuz a shoulder rig be drone height
@@TheSevoShow Hahah yes!! A pelvis rig haha
I know Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow forgot the login password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Jett Westley Instablaster ;)
@Anderson Baylor i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.
Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Wonderful video! I was trying to decide is Niceyrig was the same quality as Smallrig and this made me feel comfortable about it. I'm buying a niceyrig setup now.
Glad it was helpful!
Battery pack and additional features aside, do you think your build could work for my c100 mk2? I've been wanting to build a shoulder rig for quite some time but always felt intimidated till I found this video. Great work!
For sure! The battery pack and wireless transmitter etc is just an added bonus because I already have the gear. The sole benefit of a shoulder rig is to distribute the weight :)
Great work dude!
Thanks mate!
Yes, i have newer shoulder rig and want to mount just the monitor, what all parts would i need?
Hey dude! The easiest way would be with an articulating arm :) amzn.to/3pQAy00
Just make sure there is a point where you can screw in the 1/4 thread on one end
What was the mount for the FeelWorld monitor used in your rig?
It was actually a follow focus rig mount that i repurposed
Just curious, how have you mounted the monitor in that position? Is it attached to the rail? Or the cheeseplate?
It's mounted to the rail
I just came across this through your other follow focus video and seeing that this one is already a few years old I was wondering. Do you still use this shoulder-rig? Or have you updated it?
If you're still using the same, have you every felt that the shoulderpad was too thin/causing uncomfortability?
Thanks so much!
Hey! So i use the smallrig VCT plate with built in shoulder mount now :)
Could it work for Sony a6000, plus are u able to connect ur monitor to a Sony a6000
Absolutely could work with that. If it had hdmi then it will work :)
How is the top handle attached? It looks like a cheese plate but I can't tell what the cheese plate is attached to. Is there a hotplate connection under the cheese plate or is there a cage hiding in there? I have a Canon 90D so looking at rig options. Should I be using a camera cage and adding the top handle to that? Does this set up connect to a tripod too and if so how? Sorry for the newbie questions but even NiceyRIG haven't got any really detailed videos on how to build their products that I could find. Thankyou.
The top plate is from Small Rig. It is specific to the Canon C200. You'll need a cage to attach handles to your 90D. You could attach this whole rig to a tripod, however, you would need another cheese plate underneath for the plate to attach to.
@@AndrewMurphyFilms Thank you. I thought that might be the case but great to have it confirmed and just subscribed. I love it when I come across new videos about gear I'm not familiar with, videos like this are excellent for people like me.
Welcome to the community 🙏
What is the total budget of this shoulder rig without monitor?
$260 USD + Wireless Video Transmitter
The shoulder rig itself requires user to use both hands to hold the rig. Question: Wouldn't that be inconvenience to operate the follow focus at the same time?
The way I've set it up you still hold the handle and use your fingers on the follow focus.
@@AndrewMurphyFilms Can you explain to us how you attach your follow focus please? Thanks.
@@joesheridan8135 I've connected it to the rails. It comes with a mount for the rails on the unit :)
@@AndrewMurphyFilms Thanks! Which follow focus unit do you use?
@@joesheridan8135 For this rig i've used this one...geni.us/C6nDL0
however it's pretty tough to use, so would recommend spending a bit more on a better quality one like this...geni.us/ME1SJ
