Hi Russel, I commented on one of your other videos but there was like 2000 comments maybe you wouldn't see it though so I thought to comment here! on your trail in with the snow try
a old bed spring for a drag for the snow if you get a single mattress and burn off the fabric then pull it behind your bike but if it is snowing I would do a run every six inches it becomes hard packed and gives you a great winter road but like is said you have to drag it every six inches of snow and then wait till it hardens. I would go easy on the ethier for starting your wood spliter as you will blow the engine! try just chocking it should take right off! Look for a old elan snow machine they are great and usually cost around a thousand dollars depending on the condition. You can even get one with a electric start. Pull that drag made out of the mattress I use mine all the time with my sled. It is a must for off grid living and I go get my wood with mine in the winter so they are great little work horse as well!

Enjoyed the video, Russell. It was a nice variation to what you usually give us. Very interesting how it all came together. I do enjoy your regular stuff, though. Your day to day routine, cooking, trips to wherever (Subway, errands, etc.). It's all good and very much appreciated.
I came across your channel by watching My Self Reliance. Apparently, UA-cam saw that I was interested in what Shawn James was doing and all of a sudden Raspberry Rock showed up. I've been hooked ever since. Keep it up, I'm a regular viewer from SE Michigan and look forward to all of your videos.

I thought it was really cool watching the house go together. I had an aunt who had a prefab something like this, and I always wondered about the process. I wouldn't want a steady diet of something like this on your channel, I prefer your off grid stuff a bit more, but as they say "Variety is the spice of life", so keep things coming like this, or the solar installs, or I dunno, maybe you'll show us a well drilling or prepping for and installing a septic system someday. Always enjoyable so keep up the good work!

The weather is not normal. we up north had a "normal" winter a while, then it started to get very warm, all the snow dissappeared and it started raining, now I am a afraid if the temperature will drop again, then the roads will be like a skating range, and I am going to drive for almost three hours next week to visit my youngest son and family for the christmas. I do NOT looking forward to that. Many fora is complaining about the strange weather and all say it is a way of consequences from our polluting of the earth. I think I agree. Hope it will normalize eventually. Nice video thank you.

I like all the videos you post. This one brought back memories. Some 30 years ago I purchased a house from HMAS Cerberus Naval Base. I had the house moved from the navy base to a property about 10 miles away. Because the house did not have to travel too far, the house was transported in one piece, was pretty awesome watching this event.
I think I first came across your channel through watching Shawn James. Cheers 🍻

Very cool, I am from NB, have been in ont for 30 years, in 1977 my parents bought a prefab home, wow - were we the talk of the village...population 300. People, about half showed up to watch as the house was peiced together atop a big hill. Just like Rays our basement was fully exposed in the front, with big beautiful windows, it was a mansion compared to the other very small homes in our vfarming village. Unfortunately we only lived there 3 years before my parents divorced and a relative from ontario came down and bought our house at a firesale $$- ya, its been over 32 years i'm still a little cross about it. Those relatives put a massive extension on the house - now it really did look like a mansion, and made it into a long term care home, its still there today. This was really cool to watch brought back good and bad memories, but I now understand I have the ability to choose to weight those good memories a lot more than the bad :)

We used to be a dealer for a line of modular homes here in Va. Nothing wrong with them, easy to set up, most of ours were on a crawl space so 4 or 5 cylinder blocks high. Probably sold and set up 90 modular homes in 10 years time.

I've never seen anything like that before. Amazing how they do it.
Meanwhile, I can't believe that I can't remember how I found your channel. Likely I was surfing UA-cam as I often do, and noticed a heading about living off grid in the Canadian wilderness. My Mom was born and raised in Canada before her parents and half her older 11 siblings moved back to USA. We still have relatives living there, so maybe that is what drew me in? I do remember the first time I viewed, I was hooked and have been for several years now. I look forward to your new vlog every week. However for some reason this episode didn't show up in my usual feed. I checked several times for any new ones over this past week, but couldn't find any. So I went to your home page and saw there was a new one! YAY! But when I clicked on it the first few times it would not let me view it. And I thought, "Uh-oh I hope I didn't say something too stupid in one of my comments and got banned?" But then I did a refresh and another click and "Whew! There you are!" YAY again.
I'm happy to watch anything you and/or CG share. And it's always fun seeing you and Ray in your latest endeavors. My favorite is whatever goes on in and around the cabin, throughout the seasons, but I enjoy your divergences into other areas and topics. It's always interesting. And your music and drone shots make it all the nicer.
But, dang, wish I could remember how I found you. Sorry. I know you like it when your viewers have that info.

All the content on your channel makes for a nice variety in my thought. It was interesting seeing the house get delivered and come together, literally. I especially liked how the roof was done, would never have thought how they do that. Those guys know what they're doing. (Knocks on the house like you're supposed to do. 😆) Maybe you could check in with it from time to time to see how it's coming if it is feasible. No doubt you'll be giving Ray a hand in the future, so slip some filming in if you have time. It seems like he has a fair few properties in progress. Good to see that hopefully affordable homes are being provided.
I first saw your channel when a vid you did about the difficulties Shawn James was having with his neighbors came up in my recommendations. I was interested to hear thoughts from other folks who live off grid. I follow Shawn not because I want to live off grid, but because he's quite unusual and talented. You two are the only off grid channels I follow. I like the similarities and the contrasts of your channels. You're a lot funnier and more relatable than Shawn, Russell.
Enjoy Alicia's return, tell her hello, and Pea Soup.

Some pretty exacting measurements needed all around there. I found your channel snooping around for off grid living content. Found yours and it just felt authentic and fun.
