This has really helped me decided between the Ray and Beam for my bedroom. Thanks for the advice!
Glad it was helpful
So I was planning to purchase the Sonos Ray before watching this. Didn't realize it wasn't capable of atmos, and after watching this, now I know I definitely want dolby atmos, so thanks for making this point so clear!
Glad our video was helpful! Thanks for watching
Very helpful. One thing I just ran into was my old Sonos soundbar didn't use bluetooth and therefore I could not control it with my new Samsung remote which does not use IR. This forced me to either find a new IR remote, which I tried a couple of options, use 2 remotes or upgrade. It was great to hear that the Ray would not have solved my problem since it too is optical only. I went with the Beam after watching the video.
Glad we could be helpful to you. Hopefully you purchased your Beam from Audio Advice! Thanks for watching
Thanks for clarifying all the differences!

Love Sonos I've got a few of them and I must say I've got a roam that sounds great for a rechargeable litter speaker that rechargeable to take anywere .and I recived a Sonos SE one when I bought some furniture from a high end company and that's when I got the Sonos bug great sound
Thanks for sharing, we really like their gear!
I bought the arc and returned it a week later...was underwhelmed. I absolutely love the Playbar with my two 5s and sub. In my condo...its perfect.
Your rig is pretty good. The Playbar was a great soundbar. Thanks for watching
Beam (Gen 2), two One SLs, and Sub Mini = the perfect setup for most people. Go for it. Only consider Arc if your room can sit more than 8 people comfortably.
Yes, that is a great combo! Thanks for sharing
Nice comparison.
We are happy you liked it, thanks for watching
Great video 🍻 great arms💪

@@AudioAdvice what are your thoughts on the LG Eclair qp5 as a system for a small bedroom? Have you had any time to play around with one?
@@LoafRock We have not heard that one.
Thanks for your very informative review.
I'm curious to know though, whether a Sonos Beam Gen 2 can be connected to an Apple TV 4K in the same way that HomePods are connected - i.e. using AirPlay 2.
I have an older TV that does not allow Dolby Atmos to pass through from a HDMI input to my HDMI ARC port.
Therefore I need my Apple TV 4K to connect directly to my speakers using either AirPlay 2 or HDMI input (which the Sonos does not have).
I'd prefer to use Sonos if possible, so I can extend the system in the future by adding a sub and the new Era 300 rear Atmos speakers.
If this is possible, would latency be an issue?

Do you guys agree with what Sonos does to the Arc when you use their wall mount how it alters the sound?
Any speaker like this with upward firing drivers will sound better not mounted to the wall to keep the sound from immediately bouncing off the rear wall. But if you have to do a wall mount, at least the Sonos Arc knows you did it and compensates for that fact. Thanks for watching
Thanks for your sharing. I just have one question. If I only focus on music, such as Violin & Piano. Is there much difference between Ray and Beam 2? Many thanks
The Beam 2 will sound far richer.
Really appreciate it.@@AudioAdvice
Considering beam 2 + rear One SL surrounds + mini sub vs. the newer Nakamichi shockwafe pro 7.1.4 channel w/ 10" sub, 2 rears, eArc….I feel like Sonos has a way better app experience and I might upgrade to arc 2 when it comes out… 🤔 but Nakamichi would solve all my current issues for under $900…
The Sonos combo would be great. We are not a Nak dealer and can not really compare for you. Thanks for watching
So is it true that you cannot turn the Sonos arc off when not in use? It's always on?
It just sits in standby like 99% of other consumer electronics units do.
And is there another way to tune the arc if you don't have a iphone?
You need an iOS device to use Trueplay. They do it that way as in their testing they found those were the only units that used microphones that gave consistent results.
Yes I get that about the IOS but can it be done manually by the app or remote? I need to know before I make a final decision on purchasing one.but first I wish I could sell my Vizio M- series, only four months but I heard the arc and sub in a store,I was blown away.....
@@anthonyhardison3398 You will need to be holding an iPhone in your hand to do it, and it all happens inside the Sonos app
But what if you don't have a Iphone,is there another way?
@@anthonyhardison3398 You must have one. However you only need to do it once. You could borrow one from a friend for the TruePlay calibration
It looks very much like you want to buy it.
Sonos makes great products. Thanks for watching
By far the best review I've seen. Thank you.
