    there is a stuff called POR 15 or Paint Over Rust that works wonders if you ever get another rust rocket coat it in POR then fiberglass over it it can be sprayed ,brushed or rolled on

    Wiseco Forged Aluminum. The slightest problem can cause a cast piston to blow a skirt, sending chunks of aluminum into your bottom end, and probably blowing a hole through the cases. That's the nice thing with Forged; they hold up MUCH stronger and will last for a long, long time.

    on the 95.5-2000 tacomas they gave the owners 1.5x excellent kelly blue book value in a buy back. 2001-2004 tacomas they replaced the frames.

    I have a cast vertex in my 500, normally I use forged in performance engines as they are stronger, I normally use cast in stock to mild performance because they expand less and can be fit tighter in the bore which in itself can make a bit of power, when in doubt, pick forged

    Thanks, I'm just a regular guy, I make videos of the fun stuff as that's the direction that my channel is going but in real I'm just like most everyone else here in these comments. This truck is one of the reasons I have some free cash to play with

    I wasn't in the body shop much during the initial prep, I told them use tape and bondo over the holes but what they really used I'm not sure

    thats pretty good way to hide the toyota cancer. myself I have an 85 4x4 yota and she is pretty rust free. i wont have to worry about the box for many years in terms of rust. i should be a bit carefull when im off roading so that i dont wreck it that way haha

    If its a bed, it a very uncomfortable one, its a box already. You put stuff in a box, you sleep in a bed, I wouldn't wanna sleep in that "bed" unless there was a bunch of booze involved, That's a long time to be with the same "box" a lot of guys get board with the same "box" and switch it up with a different one or built a wooden or steel box! That's a good idea to "lay the box" with fiberglass. Another great vid my friend.

  • @AngryTankRampage
    @AngryTankRampage 11 років тому

    I know they replaced frames on older tacomas or something. I don't know about beds. I bought an 85 4runner the other day and the body on it is pretty rusted not beyond repair but not great either. The frame on it is solid though it's going to be my DD forever hopefully. I love your videos BTW.

    if you are ever looking for a new box for the trusty rusty yota, there is a guy out here in bc that makes fiberglass ones for this age truck. they are a couple grand as far as i know but deffs worth the investment if you want to keep the truck looking stock for many years to come

  • @cycleguy666
    @cycleguy666 11 років тому

    Amazing!! Here in the United States Toyota was replacing and painting beds on older pickups and later on was required to replace frames too. I would look into that if I were you.............can't Hurt!

    What would you recommend for a ktm 125 exc, a cast or a forged piston? I am going to be driving it on the road and changing the piston after about 80 hours of riding. Thanks in advance

    If it's a work truck, why spend 3K on nothing more than looks?

  • @gabbermaikel
    @gabbermaikel 11 років тому

    smart decision i think. Buying a new(er) truck would cost a lot of money and then after 5 years its a old truck again wich isn't worth much, but you did pay a lot more for it. And then most people want a new 1 again. And they pay have to add another 10k probably to get a truck thats 5 years younger. But you can also drive your old truck till its just to expensive to repair and then buy a new 1. By that time you saved yourself 10-20k from driving the old 1.

  • @gabbermaikel

    But offcourse a lot of people don't want that because they have to look rich and stuff for people around them. They think they can't show up in a old car, you need a new car else people might think your poor. Atleast thats what they think, but i just like older cars better. They just work when i turn the key on them after sitting for 2 months, new ones have a dead battery after 2 months.

    if your going to put a lightweight piston such as a wiseco make sure and use a wiseco bottom end. chances are at 80 hrs your bottom end bearings are on their way out and they will need to be replaced. if you just replace the piston the higher compression from the rebuild will make the bearings fail and you will lose the whole engine. just letting you know from past experience, '98 cr250. if you EVER rebuild a bike put a sleeve and bore to stock bore and put stock bearings and crank=no problems

    Fine enough fix for a work truck. I like keeping stuff to the low cost side too.

    lol we got the same bike and the same truck, althoutgh minwe isnt a 500 yet..... take a look at my otehr chanel and my 22r hybrid build vids 99% toyota stock parts from the junk yard 9.4-1 compression and regular pump gass..

    you could probably find an older truck in half decent shape without rust but it wont be a toyota, but Id still prefer a Toyota 1/4 tonne with a rough body over a chevy or ford 1/4 tonne with a clean body.

    My brother has a Ford F150 with nearly 300k miles and it's still running good tho I think the trans is getting weak as well as the suspension. He runs them until they have a hard break then sells them :D

    Several years ago I gave it new rings, bearings and a valve job, if I remember right the only reason I tore it down was to fix some oil leaks, its got a sloppy piston now I can hear when its cold

    3k is a deal considering new doors, paint, custom box sides etc. not to mention the labor costs. sure you could do it yourself for less i guess but most diy'ers dont have a paint booth or the experience to lay a good coat of paint, get all the panels smoothed out and lined up properly etc.
    nice truck.
