damm bro your dutch isn't that bad my man. I also laughed so hard when he spoke about us being down to earth like that is so true. If somebody would steps up to me and asks how I am you, you could basically expect me to look weird to you with the face: what you want from me?

    Tak - Taak = Branch - Task
Vak - Vaak = Profession or Field - Often
Mak - Maak = Tame - Create or fix
It’s not easy with those A’s or AA’s
Just 1 identical extra vowel makes such a difference.

I'm Dutch and very non-religieus, but this is one of the sweetest things I've ever heard. So, you also taught me something: if people come knocking on my door for religious preaching (which in general displeases me), I will be kind next time, because who knows it might be someone as nice as you.
Actually, living in the US was for me a bit of a similar experience as living in NL was for you. I really appreciated everyone I met there and I learned a lot.

Enjoyed your video very much. I am Dutch and you sounded like you were talking about me. I had a talk with a missionary like you about 60 years ago and I was very impressed, not pushy but very understanding of my feelings about the subject. About the names of the city's Den Haag used to be 'S-Gravenhage and before that, it was Des Graven Haag meaning the hedge of the Graaf (a Count I think). You see the city did not have City rights, therefore, it had no right to build a wall, so they planted a hedge. sHertogenbosh means the forest of the Hertog , You were right. Thanks again for your video. Maarten Jongebreur.

A space or not between words that sound the same is giving a total different meaning to the sentence..
    1) Het boek van ver halen. Accent on 'ver' Meaning: Get the book from afar.
    2) Het boek van verhalen. Accent on 'ha' Meaning: The book of stories.
Den Haag comes from 's Gravenhage. The 's is short for 'des', meaning 'of'. Translated: The hedge of the earls, counts.
Den Bosch comes from 's Hertogenbosch. The 's is the same. Translation: The forest of the dukes

Back in the old Europe used to be a very tribal oriented. Later, like in the old Greece things it started focusing around city states. So cities would fight each other over land and power, etc. and it remained like this for quite a while. I think together with the tribal history this is where the distinct dialect and other differences between the cities and provinces now-a-fays comes from. Hope to see you soon! Je bent altijd welkom! ;-)

from wikipedia :-P The Hague was first mentioned as Die Haghe in 1242.[11] In the 15th century, the name "des Graven hage" came into use, literally "The Count's Wood", with connotations like "The Count's Hedge, Private Enclosure or Hunting Grounds". "'s Gravenhage" was officially used for the city from the 17th century onward. Today, this name is only used in some official documents like birth and marriage certificates. The city itself uses "Den Haag" in all its communications.[12]
