Beta won fair and square. They got control and aggression while Rotator only got damage. 6 to 5. Even without primary weapon not firing, they still had a weapon.
The main problem is the inconsistency of the rules. You have some bots that control the fight, but never used their weapon and lost while other times, beta vs Rotator happened. We just had kraken vs black dragon and now this. And don't add a penalty for not using your primary weapon because not only does aggression do that but are we going back to s2? Where once you lose your primary weapon, you just never win no matter how much you control? If a casual person is watching the fight, they would give beta the win because it dominated the fight. But we're arguing over the rules because it favors spinners. So where do we go from here? (And keep in mind, close fights are almost guarantee to get backlash)
I'm totally speechless at this episode, because I don't know what to say? Should I say how copperhead vs gigabyte was a disappointment? Beta vs Rotator decision? Or why was gruff vs hypershock the main event? And commercials ruining the flow? Did they not learn from the previous season? Fun Fact: Rotator vs beta was apparently their 3rd fight. Yes, rotator and beta actually fought other bots twice before this fight, it's weird how they're airing this first 24:11 huh? I only know hypershock is facing gruff, hydra and end game. Who's the 4th? Unless you're referring to how we know end game has 4 known fights.
This is not controversial. Beta followed all the rules and you can't get mad about someone not following non-existent rules. The rules state that a bot is required to come in with an active primary weapon, nothing about using it. The only thing I guess you can get mad at is that beta didn't fire the hammer but, again, nothing in the rules state they have to. At the end of the day, people are getting mad about HOW beta won the fight (by not firing their weapon) not WHY beta won because it is obvious that the control points went to beta, so do aggression because when rotator wasn't getting pushed around, for the most part, they were just running away. The only reason rotator even got some damage points was because of when they took off the pill of the hammer and that was because of a mistake on beta's part, not control or aggression on rotator's. this fight is one-sided. even if rotator got all damage points (which it shouldn't because the hit was just a flesh wound and not even the result of good driving) aggression + control > damage. I will be covering all this and more on my vid coming 5:00 p.m PST. But please, if there is someone on rotator's side, I would love to know your opinon
@@bottalkwithgabe2522 Moving away from crappy "controversy" for a second, we do get bloodsport vs endgame along with tombstone vs slap box next episode, so hopefully less bots will randomly die this time around.
I think the primary weapon concepts is total equine scatology. IE Baloney, BS. It is a total match. The whole bot is competing NOT just the primary weapon. And there are cases where the primary weapon is not useful. I personally don't view hammer/sledge type bots have a real chance. Really should back away from making primary weapon rules. Selection committees are a waste of time if they cannot evaluate a bot on all its capabilities. Some of the old champs would be nonexistant if evaluated. Biohazard is such a bot. It has no real weapon but a lifter. Not a device that really causes damage. Causes upending/gentile flipping.
I love how people have been complaining about the primary weapon rule for such a long time and now finally when the judges make a decision based on who was actively chasing the other robot down rather than who used their primary weapon they get chastised for it
@@hex1044 Not the same people. Those who are fine with how things are won't be proselytizing for the rules to stay the same, while the people who want the rules to change will.
*_Tune in for episode 4, where another slightly close decision will be made! This'll cause all battlebots social media to fucking explode for the rest of the week!_*
Personally, I think Battelbots should not award any points for simply pushing an opponent around the box for 3 mins (or whatever). The show isn't called "Pushbots". With that being said, the show does have a point scoring system that Beta clearly won. If it wasn't for the fact Rotator accidently cut the hammer head off Beta, it would have had no effect in the fight at all. The only controversy in my mind, is that the judgement should have been unanimous, rather than the split decision that we where handed. Otherwise, it was a good call.
In the tale of tape ep2 it's stated that you can score damage and aggression by pushing an opponent into the arena hazards/walls to cause damage. You can see Beta and other bots have tried to do this for the most part, it's not just a push-fest in the centre of the box with no impacts. Maybe they'll try and introduce a "must attempt to use weapon" rule, but that can easily be satisfied by purposefully missing in the case where Beta would sacrifice their weapon if fired into the spinning disc. In the current ruling I thought you got some points counted against control if you miss with your weapon.
I am pretty sure there are going to be 32 bots in the tournament because after one of the fights they said that was a good win but will it be enough to make the top 32

they gave beta control points based on driving, in rules it states control is based on stay out of path of other bot's weapon which rotator did because its control based on weapon would have kept beta weapon path in air. aggression based on rules can't be gained by def attachment because there is no boldness/risk which is what beta did by just slam ramming w/ its def wedge (there are agro wedges) y i wish matches were 5 min/ go until winner.
what would have sense is adding a rule that you cant deviate from your base design(cant change weapon for wedge)but can change weight distrubution. Plus why did rotator run a wedge that had no use!?!?!

An American thing? Does that mean that it’s a British thing to put holes in the box and have bigass robots chase the little guys around? Tread lightly, my friend. You imply that Americans do not understand physics.
in the UK, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a robot carry a robot over itself, run into a wall headfirst and apparently that counts as an attack? There’s regional variants of things like this. For example, pinning your opponent is considered aggressive in the US but not in the UK. Running into a wall headfirst so that your opponent makes no contact with the wall doesn’t seem like an attack to me, but no one else questioned it. And house robots are a British thing, yes.
