I have just returned from a trip on The Ghan and it was the highlight of my holiday. It truly is one of the great rail journeys of the world. Superlative service on and off board. An unmissable experience never to be forgotten. Well worth every Australian dollar. Not to be missed. Better than the Orient Express.
Agree 100% !!
Was there wifi onboard?
Yes there was.@@unlockingsnow8571
Fantastic! It’s on my bucket list but I’d need a lottery win first, LOL!!!! All the very best, 🇬🇧👍👍👍👊.
That was great. Thanks for posting....You have a great voice for narration.
Thanks for watching and the comment! Glad you enjoyed it!
Romeo and Juliet? 😂
This video is very informative and we can travel only by this video. Thanks a lot
Your video brought back wonderful memories of our Ghan experience. I did notice that the platinum class dining car has been redecorated since your filming but everything else appeared the same. Thanks for posting.
I go on it next week. I am excited!!!
Hope you enjoy it. I loved the experience
You will be sorry it's so boring and all the food is micro waved, good luck..
Sooo... how was it?
The Ghan Train, nice video, wonderful train :)
As a Pom, I helped build this railway back in 75 or so. My job was to drive a roller, squasher , compacter thing but there was always a rush at the end of the day to refuel, ready for next morning. The Italians, in bulldozers, got very narkey if you tried barging infront. I think most of the workers were the worse for booze most of the time. Saw quite a few accidents and, by god, it was hot. A lot of snakes too. I only did it for two weeks until a full time profi took over. Don't remember them paying me either. So, don't forget that, next time your in the luxury suit.
jst got home from the Darwin to Adelaide journey superb service very special country
So cool dude. I follow you cruise vlogs and live in Adelaide. Was a big surprise to find this :’
I wish you journied on more train's.
I travelled on the original Ghan with the narrow gauge track it went from Adelaide to Alice Springs there was no track to Darwin the everything at that point was shipped on by road.It was a lovely old train whith great character looks like they have taken it all a bit over the top now for rich tourists.
I have be on the ghan and it was just great I live near train tracks near Melbourne
I'm not here to convince anybody of anything, each to their own beliefs having said that I have a job to do and if I can't reach out to people ( helps people regardless of backgrounds) then I have to put them on different lists for sorting
energies are waiting
nice video
If I was ever to win the lottery the first thing I would do is fly to Australia and book a platinum class trip on the Ghan train and then visit the Ausarmour collection and then do the touristy bits for a month. If only? That said I do buy a couple of tickets every week? All the best, 🇬🇧👍👍👍👊.
A note to be made. There's two versions of the gold class rooms. Rooms for two people as you mentioned. But I was Gold class and had a room for one, a chair that folds into a bed but unlike the rooms meantioned, no private toilet or shower. But it was still gold class as I was entitled to the tours and other luxuries.
great video, very informative.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Really pleased you enjoyed the video.
snuggles03 what's with the iron cross?
My wife and I were booked on the Ghan (platinum sleeper) in late May. 4 days before we were due to head off, her father died.
Now, I get that their terms say that cancelling at such short notice means no refund, I really do. But I would have expected a halfway decent company to offer some sort of token partial credit for a future trip. Just as a gesture of good faith.
But no.
Beyond are beyond belief.
Not only will I never travel with them, I will - and am - telling everyone I know this story.
Great video and narration
Thanks. Great to hear you found helpful. I really appreciate you watching 😀
Tips For Travellers Would love to travel on it 😀
Okay
I'm hoping to go on it next year with my dad!
don't miss it! A wonderful experience not to be missed!
Moshe Sapper
Agree. It was awesome!
Was it fun?
This train name used to be THE AFGHAN TRAIN
We going in march cant wai
Hopefully you will be able to do a video of the Indian Pacific one day?
I would love to go on that ! Hopefully one day!!
Cool
Why do so many UA-camrs have so little understand the meaning "background music"?
a different kind of cruise.
Absolutely 👍🏻👍🏻
Theres a Charles Darwin train also
just saying
Afghan and now the ghan thanks Afghans 🌹🖤
You are welcome😎
how much for ticket ?
Average around $2000 well worth it, I can't wait to do it
It is quite costly but I really felt the investment was worth the experience. It is such a famous and iconic trip and being one of the people to do it made it special. Hope you love it when you do it. I loved every minute of it.
How much is a return ticket
Imagine this train is a double-deck. The lower one has a small vehicle that travels the entire length of this deck that carries people.
Sponsored by The Ghan

Great train, but probably not much to see along the line.
It was great experience. As landscape changes so much along way quite a bit to see though love limited
Bit of a bleak outlook, the endless red centre, the sunrise and sunset, the changing landscape, it's all about how you choose to see it. A very simple person won't see much, but a person with a rich personality and open mind will see a lot
Yes agree. The Ghan is as much about experiencing he journey and the train as the sights along the way. Though I found the scenery fascination and spent hours watching it pass by. A lot of it was so unique and unusual I felt. But I can (as you say) see why some would not find it as enthralling...!
Nice video except for the annoying 1980s porno music in the background.
this line was founded by the hard work of AFGHAN cameleer my ancestors
Went on the ghan last month, I missed my dinner time and was told sorry your too late and missed out all together, couldn't purchase any food what's so ever. I never slept one night due to the clicky clack, got to Darwin and was a mental wreck now iam in a asylum.
How did u miss dinner
the train has cinema or wifi?
No neither!
+Tips For Travellers but is a too long trip!!!
Fuck cinemas and WiFi! Look out of the bloody window, or talk to people!
Heli-Crew HGS spot on mate !!!
People like you shouldn't travel if you want to be looking at a screen all the time. They have excursions, look out of the window, talk to your fellow passengers. Loads to keep you occupied.
not exactly the orient express, rather basic
+Maz Elder it is not as plush as some of the other luxury trains around the world - but was a great experience still. But (as you say) not very luxury
The Ghan can be classified as luxury. The Orient is for more uptight snooty idiots, and doesn't have showers(some luxury).
Big difference!
