I worked at a Guitar Center in NJ back in 2019. Thomas Miller walked in and I helped him. At first I didn’t recognize him, but once his name popped up in the computer I asked him “Hey Tom, are you a bass player?” He looked at me confused, “you are the bass player from Twilight in Olympus, The Relic is the song that got me into bass.” His reaction was along the lines of “Wow the Relic, that’s one I haven’t heard in a while.” He was an awesome guy
Romeo is truly fantastic, but he's certainly not flawless. Just listen to 2:47-2:50 and you'll hear a faulty slide, a missed note strike and then an off-pitch bend.
We should talk more about howcrisp this video is. I mean, you can hear the bass clearly -treble and low end-, AND every single piece on the drum kit. Sick.
@@simonepetrelly1835 believe so, actually. i remember reading them talk about how weird it was to see a bunch of fans of their music wanting to see them play, which is really weird when you consider they were on their fourth album by then. symphony x seems to always be criminally underrated.
I love how Russell Allen looks like Mike Patton on this show
Man, I really wish Symphony X would play these older songs live again
Seria fantástico. Eu amo symphony X.
Legend has it that the drum tech is still adjusting the cymbal

Unfortunately, he isn't in this video Its Andy DeLuca.
First time we get to see Thomas Miller playing live!
We want more of that!
+Cédric Vielvoye finally a good comment
+Cédric Vielvoye you´re right i was looking for this long time ago
@@justinmusgrave9185 Pretty sure this is Thomas Miller ua-cam.com/video/1dfAYrJLhgU/v-deo.html
Best line-up with Thomas Miller

Totalmente de acuerdo con tu comentario... Thomas me pareció siempre más creativo en la líneas de bajo....
Esa formación fue gloriosa...
Not Thomas on bass here, Andy DeLuca was the bass player for live shows in 98
The best Symphony X
Thomas Miller!!! the best SX bassist!!
And a VITAL songwriter on all of SX's best albums.
mike laponds the best

Russell has improved leaps and bounds since then, but I miss theese symphonic traks in the recent albums
God I miss the 90's what a time to be alive.
Been watching this vid periodically for quite some time. One of the best Symphony X old school vids.
great sound, rare for Symphony X footage out there! And Michael Romeo flawless as always!
Romeo is truly fantastic, but he's certainly not flawless. Just listen to 2:47-2:50 and you'll hear a faulty slide, a missed note strike and then an off-pitch bend.
Yeah, Romeo is hardly flawless at all.
Thomas Miller the best bass guitar
Holy hell that was a smoking song and solo. Michael always delivers!!
I’m glad to see the show on video with Thomas Miller! But I can’t tell if that’s Jason Rullo or Thomas Walling.
Its Rullo on drums and Andy DeLuca on bass. Thomas Miller never toured over seas.
DAMN!! I miss those Symphony X.🥲
Russell is dressed to kill in this one
One of the most underrated songs of Sx. Insane!!!
Unbelievable footage. All of the instruments are so well mixed compared to today. You can pick out each note even on this amateur footage
Michael Romeo

I believe this was one of their first ever live performances!
This is from 1998. They never played from 1994 to 1997?

Michael Romeo before the attack of the massive pizzas! and Thomas Miller..........good old SX
Lol he was always a little bit on the pizza side of the force though. That string melting shredding takes a lot of energy.
LOL
I thought he was always kinda puffy lol
Andy DeLuca on bass here. Miller did not tour.
Russel looks...interesting
Haha yeah... I think Michael Romeo told him to wear some baroque style clothes.
That's not Russel Allen, it is Brendan Fraser at his peak.
@@carpedei_ They do have a similar look haha...
I think it looks cool. It matches the music.
@@carpedei_ jajajaajjaja
I need to see more from this tour ! that's amazing !!
Thanks for posting such a rare video.
Mike Patton is amazing here
Nice! This song has notes so high that Allen himself avoids them live, lol
Thanks Thomas for sharing.
More is highly recommended 🥰🙏
The best tour ever en SyX
Best Regards
Thank you for sharing this
Is it me or does the drum tech at 0:56 look exactly like Phil Anselmo? xD
It sounds exactly like the recording!!
Yeaaah. Brutal song. The band looks perfect
Oh man, I miss those times!
I feel like I was there! thanks sir Thomas!
Tom walling is good at it too :)
AMINE TALBI Thats definately Rullo, not Walling. Maybe he had already returned to the band at this point.
Not sure, I don't recognize him in this vid, dunno...
AMINE TALBI That's Rullo! I could recognize his perfect strokes even blinfolded, hahaha.
thanx for posting Tom! been waiting for this!
Tommy!!! It's "Steve Entwistle"!!!!! Remember me??!!!
yeah the good old SX
Anyone knows why Thomas Miller left the band?
Didn't adapt to touring outside the US was one of the reasons
@@Xsymph Thanks, do you know if he's still playing? He was such a skilled bassist...
He did not like to play live so he retired from the music industry
Hi bro, great post symphony x is a fantastic band, u don't have more videos about this show?
Warwick!!! I KNEW IT
This video - 24 June 1998, Nagoya,JAPAN
not Nagasaki.
is Thomas Miller on the bass?
Thomas miller el verdadero genio tras symphony x. Rusell parece un gitano con esa ropa jaja
first 40 secs are like Cannibal COrpse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
take a look at the height of Allen!
Good evening, narwhale. At least, that is what I, a non-Japanese speaker, heard
Just noise - especially when it comes to optics. : D
I have Metallica material of an equal magnitude. Hey, it's in color!
