I love this video, I lived in the very last house on Parker Hill, the mountain was my back yard. We would hike up to the top and the Ranger would let us climb the tower & look out his binoculars the view from the top of my hill was directly towards the Mocanocqua bridge. It's an awesome view
Thanks so much for this video! My grandfather used to be a firespotter in that tower, and he took my sisters and me up there one summer day about 40 years ago. I'd love it if you'd do another video when the leaves have turned. SO beautiful.
Grew up on that mountain, we were the next to the last house. Walked up to the fire tower many times growing up, took a lot of short cuts, it was quite a hike. My Mom would point out all the different flowers and trees on the way. The view from the top is beautiful even if you don't climb the tower. You can see for miles. Took my kids up there a few times. Some of the best times.
Glad you liked it. I plan to do more adventuring this summer now that I'll have the time. This is a beautiful area to live and enjoy and I want to share it with others on here.
I'm happy you liked the video. I only found out about this place by talking to a neighbor who said she had been up there as a child 50+ years ago when the watchman would let her and her friends up for a look. This place must have such a history! And, yes I do plan to go up there again at the peak of the fall colors and after the flood... If you are interested, there are a few photos I took of the tower, itself on my Panoramio account.
I have a picture of that firetower your standing in. I was in Council Cup. I was directly across from the Power Plant in Salem township. Its a good 15 miles away and the fire tower stands out clear as day. I hope to get a picture from the Tilbury Knob which is another 15 miles in the other direction. I'll post that one as well. Have a look at the link to check out the picture. www.flickr.com/photos/krishaas2012/

What's the route up the mountain? I think the tower's access road is on private property now.

decent location for a siren, right next to a tower
Is this the tower on top of Parker Hill?
I actually was stepping on wood, but only on the edges where there was metal support directly beneath...
This is Pennsylvania, right?
yes
I would like to know who owns this tower?
I think its a cable tv company
