I was very fortunate to have Lt Spaulding as my range instructor for a few years while at the MCSO. I soaked in every word and skill that he ever taught me. I couldn't get enough of his knowledge and loved qualifying under him. To this day, I remember his classes and curriculum. He's an amazing instructor!!! Believe me, listen to this man share his knowledge. It will potentially save your life

Thank YOU! I have watched some shooting locally - and as would agree, Just moving is not everything. Moving to close distance, using good cover and a balloon target - It is marvelous. Cheers! A CR moment!

If anyone is talking bad about you it's because they are jealous. I have learned more from watching 1 of your videos than watching all of theirs put together.

Brian Almond Thank you, Brian...I really don't think it was jealousy but more about the "shouting down" some instructors have adopted to raise their profile. I think their parents just didn't teach them manner. Thanks Bro!

You know whats interesting is ... I was gonna reply back and say somethin to the lines of "well if your running w/ your back to the target, how will you know where they are... seems logical the way many are instructed(walk / move quick as possible sideways / back and keep eye on them) but then I thought back to the days I played military sim airsoft matches. You are completely right! its about moving quickly and w/ a purpose to cover or fleeing the combat zone. In airsoft, it wasnt about knowing where my enemy was when I was moving ... it was about finding cover as quickly as possible and then reassessing their location. I damn sure didnt move slowly, sideways or backwards - while keeping my eye on them, trying to peg them while streams of bb's were whizzing past my head lol!

Great looking drill, but I’m not a timing drill kind of guy. Run the drill the fastest/best of your ability is my way. Just as long as you can hit the targets.
    Thanks for sharing...

Hi Dave, I would be a bit concerned about turning my back to the threat completely. I would prefer pointing my gun in the direction of the threat while retreating, looking back at intervals until I can take proper aim and fire. If the threat should engage while I am retreating, I could fire covering shots. What do you think?

I'm not Dave Spaulding but I would recommend is that if you're taking shots or your adversary has some sort of tactical advantage against you, I would say turn around and run, find a better position and try to gain fire superiority. But if you have fire superiority, or the bad guy is down I would say keep your gun pointed at them or at least in their direction. As soon as you take your aim off of them, you have given up fire superiority. Unless you're in some designated combat zone, I wouldn't recommend just cooking off rounds to keep people's heads down because you could hit an innocent.
This is just the way I see it, I've never been in a real gunfight and I'm not a real instructor so take that into consideration when you think about this. Just some random asshole's opinion

Your audio guy needs to use a wind screen to cover his mic.

I just got off the phone with Springfield Armory and they do not recommend doing a dry fire drill with the Springfield XD unless you're using snap caps

great drill. I appreciate your candor. What are your thoughts about double taps on each target rather than the single shot your taking?

Walt Wawra If the target goes over it is nor necessary...if not, then shoot again...
