Finally a video that actually shows what the SWR on the 857 represents. THANK YOU! I've now got the external meter for the radio. Is there another marker at 3:1 reading too. Ive only recently purchased this radio and mainly use it mobile without the Analog meter attached with various Ampro whips I've borrowed so would be really useful to know this for tuning on the fly. I notice the meter goes right to top and then flashes high SWR but not sure how height it has to be for this to happen. Any ideas? Thanks again Simon M0SCS
Hello Simon, I’ve read your comment and had a look on mine. Even though I don’t have the analog meter yet I’ve checked the voltages out of the meter jack and then noted all the value as I go up to full scale. Now, if you look at the swr scale 2 is about S4 and 3 is about between S6/S7. Translate to the display meter when you see appearing the first longer line is about swr2 as he said in the video and easily enough when a second step happens you’re on swr 3. Hope that helps. Diego
@@IZ0MTW Many thanks for the the info. I now have the plugin external meter so easier to but very useful to know for when I'm mobile . Cheers Simon M0SCS
