  • A chance to see a little seen pinball machine made in 1987 by Gottlieb, VICTORY is a race theme game (with suitable Todd clips in a racing car!) and that has two levels of play and several ramps! Many game play secrets are revealed in this fun video! Gottlieb Pinball machines started talking in 1981 and stopped in 1983 (speech Chips too expensive), then in 1987, this was the first machine to have Speech again!

Victory was originally supposed to have a lower playfield just like Gottlieb's "Black Hole", but that feature made the game too expensive to produce so instead, they were going to add a model race car that moved around a track anytime a checkpoint was crossed but that turned out to be just as expensive as the lower playfield so neither were used.

The sound and speech all come from the same board...press in all the socketed chips first...hard. Once may have popped loose. Sometimes the speech chip is powered by an extra voltage...you can clean the edge connector of the speech board and make sure both fuses (I believe the sound board is powered from two fuses) are good. Possibly the fuse for the speech voltage is blown. At least that's a good start!

Could you imagine how MANY moments people playing this game were like "we're at 7 - COME ON - just one MORE " who 'get it' ? Pinball machines often are terrific to test abstract learning, you have to figure them out, and once you do mastery isn't far away. If you ever watched Being There with Peter Sellers - Jerzy Kosinski wrote that novel - he ALSO wrote a novel called Pinball. In it - he reveals the title - as to why? "Because- you never know what will happen next".
Somewhere we've lost this wonderful mix of analog and digital I think. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe it's moved to cards, but really, the LAST think I want to hear in a car is something like the Comet going "Hit me Hit Me" for that center target. Cars SHOULD Be less flashy - and more functional to get you from point A to B. Speaking of the Comet - funny story- I had a used book store once, with Uncle Bills Amusements across the street- a friend said - why don't you get one of their pinball machines in here - you're a business. Eh- bad decision, but I did. So here is someone looking through my 7 part Gibbons Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire - first edition, meanhile in the background you hear "HIT ME " lol from the machine. The two environments JUST didn't work out, while I DID READ a lot of the books that came in, I think I preferred the Comet more in some ways. A totally contained experience.
Hope you guys did well on your Globetrotters restoration - as a child, that game was a blast. I'm SURE if I saw it now, it would be FAR FAR FAR simpler than I recall. lol.

I have this machine, and I love it. I repaired the right flipper myself and now I've lost the foreground voice (there is background music still playing, but no voice talking about checkpoints); there are several videos about proper grounding, but I don't see one that resembles this machine's design. I would love to get the "voice" back, but I'm not sure how. Any suggestions? Thanks for your videos, love them.

New high score for the VICTORY PINBALL MACHINE: 99,995,720!! Didn't get the x8 multipliers, so I didn't get to see the score counter reset to O instead of 100 million. You did not mention something about the score counter on this machine. If you don't get the 8X multipliers and you get past 99 million the score resets to 0 instead of 100 million, 101 million, 102 million etc. I don't know if that holds true on the real machine or not. However on the pinball arcade version, I was very good and never thought I get that high - getting better at it!

New high score for the VICTORY PINBALL MACHINE: 47,365,530!! It was very difficult for me at first when I played it four months ago, but now it is much eaiser, and that is through practice. So again, a new challenge..My tips are as follows....Get an extra ball, and if you lose that one, try to get another extra ball. Really, nothing helps to raise your high score if you don't do that!

The bottom line is - these guys are at a technical level they COULD be building nuclear warheads and restoring those- but oh no - They HAVE lives- and passion - and seek to bring people HAPPINESS proxy of technology.
If I EVER find anyone that needs servicing for legacy machines ? nuclear warheads excluded - I'm calling TNT... Sounds kinda strange with the example I chose.
    TOPS - just tops.
It takes a very special person to care for machines in this sector, or special people.
There is a base level joy watching these videos, even if it's a game I'm not familiar with. Marshal Macluhan says we turn to nostalgia when we are in identity crisis, in this case, I disagree. Here is a group of people preserving a culture that has necessity to be preserved.
My FAVORITE TV show is Counting Cars with Danny - of course, in this case, I don't KNOW if a network would pick these guys up - if they did ? I BET they'd be surprised at the success of the show, for now though, this is up there with my favorite youtube channels to subscribe to, probably #1 for me as current. Sure I subscribe to software development channels, but TNT offerings are equally as serious as they are funny- I think the Greeks tried to master the tragi-comedy.
Heh, I grew up with a Globetrotters game next to a Broken Arrow (or was it Golden), next to a Scramble video game. The machine ultimately is JUST a catalyst for what is inside of us all. But who doesn't like a 3x multiplier ?

    • @tntamusements

Tim Miltz We DO enjoy what we are doing! These games originally were made to MAKE MONEY...but now they are providing tons of memories to those who used to play them!! I wonder if you were thinking of Bow and Arrow pinball machine? That would be a few years older than Scramble and Harlem!

Too much red for me though. and again oh missing the bottom sigh. yeah it's an OCD thing but I like seeing under the playfield at least we got to see the actual playfield underneath :D and someone of late has been playing TNT on Pinball Arcade because I see TNT on the top name on that app often on Steam. This machine is easy to pass but it has 3 main putadas that you can get to fuck a lot, 1: the lower left side, if you hit the bumbers in a vertical direction you have to pray so that it does not sneak in there, the 2: the targets, the targets to be in slope has the tendency to go the ball to the left queue, the 3: the extra ball is quite hidden and many times or is reached by serve, or by bounce, otherwise turn it around is easy and fun, as long as you do not fuck those 3 things ...
