Just two lemons flavour Marcella's famous roast chicken?

- I so highly skeptical that just two lemons would be enough to flavour a chicken, despite all the hype about Marcella Hazan's famous recipe, that I made a her La Peverada Di Traviso (Peppery Sauce For Roast Birds) as backup. And why not Spinach Sautéed with Olive Oil and Garlic to round it off.

Hello Alex!
Checked out your channel to see if any new videos have been posted. Thanks for this one. I’ve made this many times and my son in law has made it also.
I love how you always include additional side dishes. I don’t research enough of her other recipes. I’m just a pasta lover so I tend to focus on those.
Hope you’re doing well and thanks again for the entertaining and informative video.
The slow motion of your chicken giving birth to a lemon before you tied the legs...! Thanks for testing this recipe, I've been wanting to try it.
It really did look like that 😆 One of the outtakes in this video is me mentioning the chicken is “crowning”, thought best to cut it 😅.
Thanks for watching, hope it was helpful 😊
Lol the build-up of Millie saying “you know when spinach gets bitter and gross…..”
It’s a nail biter!
Good job dude
This is one of the best cooking videos I have ever seen
I for one could use more heavy metal in the kitchen
Cooking videos are not about what you cook they are journey a story with ups and downs on the way to the destination of Finished dish.
You could make shit on a stick and it would still be fun to watch!
Fact is you are either entering or your not
Just have fun and your channel will grow
Thanks for the hard work it takes to bring this entertainment to us the viewers
That’s so kind of you to say, thank you! 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed my attempt at cooking, I hope to keep bringing the entertainment 😄
10:06-10:12: Nice! I've never seen a carving tray. Looks like it may come in handy for your channel. Good luck!
I might make this. Anything you would change about the sauce in retrospect? Is it worth doing or just the chicken?
Nice! The sauce was interesting and certainly made it feel more Italian than just the chicken by itself. That being said it isn’t necessary, just a welcome addition 😊
I probably would have been even more generous with the pepper. It disappeared behind the liver a bit, I was surprised she called it a “peppery” sauce and not a liver sauce. Maybe more generous with the lemon rind too, and also try to make sure the wine is bone dry.
I hope it turns out well!
I'm honest I'd probably pass on the sauce it already looks like an unpleasant texture. but man that chicken seems like a crime to not try it given how super simple it is.
The doyen has returned!!!!
I’m not going to live down that joke am I 😆
now i'm starving...
Mission accomplished 😄
Lemon in chicken!! 😮
I'm super intrigued by this simple recipe! I saw that Anti-Chef guy cook it and he seemed surprised by the results too. Crazy how much juice you had at the end, it looks like it had been basted the whole time!
It really is intriguing, I agree! Have you tried making it yet?
I saw that video too! Was cool seeing a big UA-camr trying the same recipe I’d attempted. This recipe I reckon taught me the value of low-ingredients, high-technique. The whole idea of roasting the chicken upside down so it self-bastes… why doesn’t every recipe do that??
This has been a recipe I keep coming back to, Millie (the housemate) often requests it as a comfort meal. Lately been adding garlic and thyme, and putting all those juices into a pan and reducing them down into a gravy recently.
Thanks for taking a look at my channel 😊
@@TheAttemptedCook Finally got around to making this. It's very good! I thought it was going to be a bit too lemon-heavy, but that's not the case at all, the lemon creates a lot of great moisture and adds flavor, but it comes out more complex than just straight-up lemon.
I made a pan sauce with the juices and it came out great! Are you familiar with the UA-camr "ThatDudeCanCook"? He has a simple rosemary salt that I've been using, and it seriously elevates this even further!

Dude wash the chicken. Yur not following directions already. U wash the lemons but not the chicken. Wow!
Haha this is true, I did wash the lemons, although I think the reason in that case could be pesticides etc. Can’t remember how/where I was taught to not wash chicken, but a quick google tells me it’s a very divisive topic with a lot of passion on both sides. Thanks for the comment!
