When I stencil, I use freezer paper, (I use the Cricut for cutting) I iron it with the wax part down, it then glues down thus making it easy to apply paint. Bonus part is you r not wasting so much precious vinyl.
**Thanks for this tutorial, the door mat idea is 👍🏼👍🏼

You have been my favorite Cricut UA-cam expert now you are one of my favorite humans Lorrie! I really hoped but didn’t count on a response given the time passing since this went up.
Project elements worried me as to endurance. Coir crumbles and leaves crispy remains as it ages. It crumbles too quickly here in north central California weather. Then there is the paint choice dilemma . Craft solutions claiming outdoor promise have failed me several times on outdoor planters, deco and bird feeders. A newer Krylon and learning to clean the item well with rubbing or stronger alcohol has helped. I’m thinking your mat idea might last on flatter recycled rubber mats if I use exterior house paint usable on rubber.
Gosh but I love the custom look of your mat! Just hate to create a gift that could too quickly wear out. I may talk myself into a flatter rubber or synthetic mat and either spray Krylon or pounced exterior house paint. No! Porch paint!! It’s formulated for walking on.
Thank you, thank you for responding. Deep appreciation too for your practical and very attractive multi-use and multi-craft type UA-cam inspiration. You check off all the right boxes for me a multi-interest yet personally mediocre creator. Some how or another your delivery voice and pleasant but no extra nonsense presence and your video length is perfection in my estimation.

Simona Wheeler MacAngus I would recommend only using them in a covered porch area. I did use weather proof spray which I show in the video but as this is just a surface paint in a textured surface I don’t believe it would be suitable for an entryway that has no shield from downpours or snow.

Very nice gift idea, I really loved it and loved the way you explained everything. Thank You Very much for this DIY. But since it was used as a stencil, instead of a iron on or adhesive, couldn't you just of used the contact paper ? wouldn't it of been more economical ? Just a thought.

Donna Bell as I mentioned in the video I have tons of vinyl and this was a color I will never use so I used it. You are more than welcome to use contact paper, wax paper, I didn’t want to use contact paper because all I have is clear and that would not show up on camera very well.

I have a question, at this is because I don't know a lot from the Cricut use or materials.
The Crigut can cut cardboard? or paper? and if thats the case, why dont cut the paper and spray or paint it exactly the way you are doing this? I ask because I think that Cricut can cut that, but im not sure about this, and I don't know why use vinyl if paper could be an option, but maybe im wrong cause I don't know if Cricut use those materials or there is another thing that I don't know !
