hi, how about building a vpn website? where users can login and create vpn account, can choose what country they need to create an account. Using the free tier of oracle. Can you do it?
you will need paid openvpn, since free version allows only 2 accounts, then you have egress limit which is 10tb per month

It's pretty much as safe as any other option. Since most VPNs actually use open-source protocols like OpenVPN or Wireguard (they just don't mention it)
500mbps to 60 is a huge downgrade . can you choose the server to the closest country? or maybe it's just oracle limiting free tier bandwith

First: sudo su
second: /usr/local/openvpn_as/scripts/sacli --user admin --new_pass YOURPASSWORDHERE SetLocalPassword
third: service openvpnas restart
this will reset your password but in the second part YOURPASSWORDHERE will be your password and the user will be the one you made in your openvpn password

@@Emit.Reviews managed to fix it. It was because I had “select existing virtual cloud network selected” when I didn’t have one that already existed on this account. To fix it I selected the radio button next to it to “create new virtual cloud network” and also had to do the same with the subnet
Essentially it was trying to install the openvpn image onto a path that didn’t exist

May want to first ask yourself what you are using a VPN for eg: General Browsing, Emails & Gaming should be 100% fine, but P2P is likely in breach of Oracle user agreement that Nord don't care about. You also have a unique IP address that will point straight back to you including all your signup details & CC. Some VPN's claim not to log and would not provide a unique IP address linked back to you unless you pay an additional fee, you can even signup with gift CC or crypto.

Once I started hacking I knew that OpenVPN was a treasure...
This is a great idea in theory, but you simply cant create instances under free account, i have tried for a few days now, even after i changed shapes to intel or amd or ampere
How many countries servers are you allowed to have access with the Oracle/ OpenVPN licence?
First off you can't sign up for that company Oracle I just tried doesn't work they really kick you out

passwd: user 'openvpn' does not exist
The password isnt passwd, its just the command to set the password. So, you would need to type what you've entered after passwd

You can try to choose a different configuration, see if thats available

I've tried all 3 availability domains, and checked each shape series for availability, It gives me the message "This shape is either not compatible with the selected image, or not available in the current availability domain". Sorry I am pretty inexperienced with this.

There is a possibility that EVERYTHING is taken but thats quite rare. Try switching between AMD procesors and Ampere (Arm) ones. The Ampere offer more resources, so they're usually taken first.
@@Emit.Reviews I've tried switching to each one to check for any availability, each has a greyed out checkbox with a grey explanation mark that gives the error message I said above. I even tried using the older version of OpenVPN(2.8.3) and that just says "No Shapes are available" with no options at all

AMP gives more resources. But its not all about hosting. Maybe the website just needs optimizations?

Yup, just install different software on the server and make sure to open the necessary ports as well as make firewall exceptions

I had the same problem, you probably just pressed Enter while initializing OpenVPN. Then you skip the skip in which it creates the USER and all other data.

There's a limit for OpenVPN to 2 devices at the same time. So only 2 people would be able to use it simultaneously

ı fixed it. You need tcp port 945 and UDP 1194 also opened before initial configuration

@@Emit.Reviews I added the same ports as you mentioned in the tutorial, but I see you actually have others open (80, 8443, 20, 21, and a long one) I was able to connect with putty and changed my password there, but as soon as I try to access it from the ip:943/admin nothing... help please. I have ports 22, 943 and 443 open.

great video as always, i normally use outlinevpn (owned by jigsaw, which is owned by google) but it doesn't support arm so it won't work with oracle cloud
You can get a non ARM procesor on oracle as well. I just use it because it gives the most resources
