@@kipsbat The bare minimum is 2x4 which is 8sqft. The ideal size though is 2x5 or larger. They need plenty of space in order to be able to run.
This cage is good for a temporary situation like for 2 days of less
With this sort of cage you have to spend a lot of time with them. So they can be out of the cage lot.
Great setup btw. Me and my brothers have some and we did a similar cage. But. We also had a hutch out side so they could eat grass thought the day and come in at night.

And actually the water bottle does suck even if you put it from the outside I’ve had it for my guinea pig before and it falls right off and there is no instructions on how to put a fucking water bottle on because it’s really easy

I have the same cage the water bottle holder go’s on the other side the bars help to keep it from falling.
A lot of ppl are commenting about the cage size and this is what I have to say. if you look up the standard size cage, for 2 guinea pigs that cage is more then minimum size for 2 guinea pigs of course bigger is better but that meets the expectations. EVERY single guinea pig, bunny, hamster etc video there’s always comments about the cage size then I look up the standard size cage and I’m like these ppl don’t know what there talking about, just stop being mean ik ur trying to give advice and that’s fine but especially if someone’s i first time owner it’s hard for them to understand, and also if ur gonna comment cage advice plz look up the minimum size and make sure ur stating true facts thank you.

The standard size cage for 1-2 Guinea pigs is ATLEAST 8 Sq ft. Anything smaller is not really appropriate for them, UNLESS it’s temporary... Trust me not being mean or anything just been doing a lot of guinea pig research because I’m buying one soon lol. If you guys want an example of a good pet store cage look up Midwest Guinea pig Habitat that’s the bare minimum.

So basically yes this cage is too small, it cuts off a lot of inches for easy shipping, meaning it’s not the minimum, in more new videos she has a big c&c cage for the pigs :) she fixed the mistake, she enjoys making her pigs happy

What cage did you end up with if you don't mind me asking? I got this cage in its deluxe size and it is fine for my one piggie but I am not sure how it would handle two? I took out the built in house which gave the cage a lot more room

Hamsters have high energy and run around in their cages,
2 guinea pigs don't fit in there and they exercise and and run around.
A bunny would be too big for that and might not like it.
And also the hamster might escape through the bars.
Icyy_5i ve yes but hamsters and guinea need time outside the cage that’s why I have that cage for my 2 guinea pigs but THAN I have a large C & C build cage for them to play in and get there energy out and post guinea pigs and hamsters live fine in that cage

My uncle had the same cage for his guinea pig, but it was only 80x60 cm long and there was only that plastic house, nothing else.. The guinea pig was hidden in the house all the time and was extremely anxious and scared of everything. It was really sad..

Uhm. NO. Do you research. It is not big enough even for a baby, because baby guinea pigs are REALLY active. And before you say, "they can use a exersise wheel or ball" their backs are VERY fragile,therefore they cant use them.

Kaytee open living habitats is the bare minimum for 2 guinea pigs. That is if you get them out every day for a a long time. I have two Kaytee open living habitats and plan to give them a c and c cage or add another level. c and c cages and cheap and affordable. You should have two guinea pigs. if you have two you need two water bottles an two pellets bowl. Hay racks are bad because they can get hurt. a hay box is better and doubles as a litterbox. it would be hard to access your guinea pig in that cage. your guinea pig has no space to run or popcorn in his cage. he could hit stuff and hurt himself. Nothing wrong with bedding but personally I think fleece is the way to go. the guinea pig will not be able to get to the second level when he is old. those guinea pig will double the size when they grow and wont have space. putting a guinea pig in a family room can be over whelming. they are prey animals and can be frightened by loud talking, laughing, TV, if you drop your glass and it shatters, young kids screaming and sticking fingers in cage, and in some cases a parent yelling at their kid. I keep my guinea pigs in a warm part of my basement. all in all, I understand. my guineas started with one Kaytee open living habit. At first i had only one guinea pig. He died shortly after I got him. I loved him with all my heart. That is why when me and my sister got guinea pigs i worked hard to improve their lives.
Don't put your guinea pig cage in the basement/ garage unless it has central ac and heating in there. Also if have pets cats or dogs sneak into the place your guinea pig is chilling out in I would suggest Midwest Wabbit cage 47 size plus get the extension. I use the extension for where mine eat and drink and the other side for it to do running, popping,and sleeping don't use the end piece where keep their food and cave thing useless. True the side hay container is useless on any of them. I have a ceramic one that work as both hay and pellets. Without the metal hold it in the hay which I found useless and not safe.
That cage isn’t big enough for a guinea pig. Let alone ONE. And guinea pigs need a buddy.

JC_CheekyCherry You can do research. If you’re worried about your cats you probably should have waited to get a rabbit. Because of your cats it can’t have a proper enclosure which there’s actually plenty if you look up different kinds on UA-cam.

I think people need to chill out a bit. This is a decent sized cage. I believe it looks a bit cramped with all the toys in there but thats it. the measurements are 46.9 x 22.8 x 24 in. (also she said in the beginning she hadn't done this before so cut her some slack)

Gacha Gamer! LoL. Guinea pigs are a social animal. Having just one is CRUEL. In fact it’s illegal in a few countries. I have two girl guinea pigs. If you have two boys they can be territorial if there are girl guinea pigs around or if their cage is too small, like the one in this video. You can bond two boys do some research before posting misinformation.

Hi! I have two piggies and I really don’t think the guinea pigs would be happy in that small of a cage. Or almost any store bought cage, for that matter. It’s wayyy better to build your own cage (c&c is good!) instead. For mine, I bought TWO of these Guinea Habitat Plus Guinea Pig Cage by MidWest w/ Top Panel, 47L x 24W x 14H Inches www.amazon.com/dp/B001NJ0DQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_A5AHDb60ND3A9 and then put them together. It could fit up to 3 of the little angels :).
Hey! Theres a cage i use for mine. The guinea habitat plus off amazon. Big enough for two, easy to clean. Doesnt come with a top but you can order one from their page. I personally dont like the top on pig cages. Can do fleece, bedding, cat litter trays fit in it if you prefer that. Can be flimsy but when against a wall its a really nice cage. Can also do c&c but with this you can even order another and attach them together really easy

Currently looking into this cage for our guinea pigs it does look tiny but lucky for us all amazon has the exact specifications for all three of the cages, currently the cage we have is huge in size but the biggest downfall is that the bottom is like a fabric material and an absolute pain to clean, which is why my husband and I are looking into a hard plastic base, if anyone has any other suggestions I am absolutely open to hear. Don’t get me wrong I love this cage but I feel like I might downgrading my current size for this and my piggies are so used to the size we have, plus being realistic here we really can’t afford to throw out 134.00 which is the price on amazon as of 12/30/19 for the risk of it being too small for them.
More information I can say is two piggies, with 2 plastic houses in current cage, 2 water bottles and in the one corner we have a hanging food dish that we put the pellets in. Our piggies are kinda “special” and what I mean by that is they will ONLY EAT the hay when it’s placed ON TOP OF their houses and they like to jump on top of them and eat it that way, so a big must would be something with more height where they can easily jump up on them to munch in hay.....
Like I said any suggestions would be grateful
Just to add, before anyone jumps the gun, my husband and I CAN afford that cage as well as the care for our piggies, but realistically we’re the type of people who would rather use the money we’d spend on this cage on the other more essential needs, as mentioned above the ONLY reason I’m reading into new cages is because it is a pain to clean the one we have considering it is a cloth material, but other then that it is a healthy size for them, so please anyone who comes across this comment even if it’s a year or two down the road even if it were 10 years I am open to any and all suggestions
Make a CC cage with plastic storage grids and a plastic bottom. It’s way cheaper than buying a cage. There are so many tutorials on UA-cam about this! Either that or you could just watch the price of the cage, as it tends to fluctuate (I have seen it go for only $80 sometimes).

I have the same cage for my single piggy(before everyone sends me hate a vet donated me this cage because my sister gifted me my baby and i love her to death and have been doing my best to make her the happiest piggy i can ive been saving and am working on redoing her cage(the vet gave me the cage gutted no supplies or anything in it(i have stuff at home already but am in the process of upgrading it all) and her partner passed on a few months ago) she loves all the space and seems to loves running around at all hiurs of the night now instead of sleeping lol
I like the cage you got. The little piggy’s you got won’t be little like that forever. I thought mine would but they got so big real quick. I think the cage you got is a minimal size for having two piggy’s and it’s good to see there are two since guinea pigs are social animals and best in pairs. I just love watching videos about guinea pigs and learning more about them.
Nice cage but not suitable for guinea pigs x pets shops/companies tell that they r but they really r not as they need at lest 2x3 cage minimum as those cages don’t not give them the space they need run around or to have they own space away from each other x please for the pets welfare do a little research as these cages r ok for temporary housing or for travelling x

Um no. That’s not an excuse for putting them in a tiny abusive cage. In this video, it’s fine because they got a bigger cage and they are babies, but that size cage is absolutely unacceptable. It’s not hard to have a happy guinea pig, you nuts have to give it space.

@@username09287 there have been studies that guinea pigs in small cages become depressed, sick, and really lethargic. They can’t run freely, and they can become physically ill because they cannot move as they require. So yeah, it’s abusive.

I like this style of cage because its sturdy with nice plastic bottom. I'm not a fan of midwest, c and c, or the kaytee because they are flimsy and hard to clean. I hate cloth bottom cages too. They get gross very quickly. I'm curious-why are these cages sold if they are considered to small? Where can I find a similar style in a larger size for 2 Guinea pigs? I've looked everywhere.
They are sold because there are no laws in the US and Canada to stop companies from making pet products that will hurt or even kill your pets.

I cant reply to everyone so i will make it public here. This cage, they have replaced by now, is an X-Large living world rabbit/guinea pig habitat. The outside measures 7.2 SF, inside is roughly 6.7 SF. A single pig needs 7.4 square feet and two need at least 8 square feet. Just because animals can sit inside of a cage and it looks fine doesnt mean it is a healthy size for a graising animal. A living workd xl cannot even hold two rats properly, there is a reason why the square feet isnt listed, it looks large but its really not. They did the right thing and found a new cage (i havent seen it but i assume it is at least 8) i dont condone young kids putting their view of facts out there. A small area for any animal promotes risk of depression which shortens their lives. Proven in many ways with facts to back that up
use c&c cage these cages are too small take some lessons also from scotty's animals please no commercial guinea pig cage is good for them unless they are baby's these are too small for adult guinea pigs in her other vids she show's u have to do a c&c cage which is great, also watch LA guinea pig rescue with saskia she's been taking care of guinea pigs for 10+ years

these cages come in a variety of sizes. small, medium, large, and extra large. i don’t know what size this is but it looks like a medium to me if she got a size larger it would’ve been perfect but this is a nice temporary home

Yes cc cage if have no dogs or cats but if have pets sneak into the room the Midwest Wabbit 47inch long x 23 with extension is another 23 longer (I set up for their food area) then they have 47 inch long area to run around in. I also have a play area for the to run in too. So not stuck into in their cage all the time

That cage is TOO small for a hamster and a guinea pig is way bigger! :( this is why the cage is too small and Unappropriate for Guinea pigs.....
1. The Bedding you’re using!! I mean your bedding is kinda ok but what happens with the bedding is that your Guinea pig or guinea pigs will poop and pee and the betting will get mixed up with it and get all gross!
2. It’s too small cuz Guinea pigs like to do popcorn hopping and that is not enough room for it and how would you like if you only got 2 feet of living space!
3. Don’t put the hay on the ground if you don’t know guinea pigs already put Enough hay on the ground and how would you like if there was so much food or stuff on the ground you know they can’t pick it up and put it back in the the hay feeder :(
4. But I know they are small but that still is not enough space and I do like the bed you put in I like that it doesn’t touch the floor :)

It was fine for hours because when they first arrived, they did not get out of their little hut during the time because they were still so fresh to their environment so as they got bigger, we did enlarge the cage for them to run around, but that was shortly because as they get older, they don’t run around anymore anyway

Another thing, a general rule (if you, sadly, only get one) is that even if there is only one, there should always be room for one more. For example, if you have 2 piggies than there should technically be room for 3. Or if you have 3, there should technically be room for 4.

Simply Tutorials no shes right. I owned it, the inside is roughly 6.7 square feet. Two pigs need 8. One needs 7.4. Just because an animal can fit in a cage and it looks ok doesnt mean it meets the requirement. An example being two rats need an entire 2x4 foot ferret cage

this cage is far to small for a guinea pig, a single piggy needs 36"x30", and guinea pigs are herd animals so they need at least one friend, if you only have one it can become depressed and stop eating.
