Well....just like that I am back home and reunited with my wife. She wanted to make the trip back to the states with me but I told her to just let me go do the work and spare yourself the jet lag. I cannot believe that I am already back but what an incredibly productive trip. Now it is time to do the jet lag thing all over again in reverse but I will be in this time zone for the next five months. We have tons of projects here in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia so I cannot even imagine what is going to transpire throughout this time over here. Thanks for watching!!!

Very exciting update, Dan! I must’ve missed the earlier video covering your plans for the walled-in area. Are you intending to eventually open it up for private tours or will it just be a private oasis for you and Apple? Much luck to you both and thanks for sharing this next chapter with us.
Just doing this for ourselves. The land came up for sale across the street under dire circumstances so purchasing it was also saving someone's situation. The forest behind it we already owned so this just connected the plots and brought it right to the street in front of our house. We had no idea what we were going to do with it at the time but we have a much better idea now. No rush, no pressure....just little by little.

That snake looks almost exactly like the harmless Dekay snake l find all the time here in the US! My aunt even had one get in her ovens digital clock area, wierd to find one inside..

I’m really excited to see how that land develops, going to be a great project. Do you have a time frame when you think you will have the walls completed and emu enclosure done?
We need to start getting bids on the wall probably this week. Once the walls are up, then we hire local village workers to do concrete and build stuff. We will be away from the house from Feb 9-18th so maybe the wall before we leave and then get the inside work going after we are back so we can supervise.
Looking forward to the updates. Nice blank canvas for you too work on, a lot of options there for you.
Great video I think you should move the emu to the back more for the mess and smell and how will you drain the emu pond to keep them clean
They are directly behind our house now and there is no smell. People here have pigs, chickens and water buffalo....I think what we are doing ranks very low(or the lowest) on the scale of smell lol. The emu pond will get pumped out to the adjacent rice field where the "fertilizer" is greatly welcomed. I don't think the emu will poop in the pond but if we get capybara I know they will. It isn't for drinking, it is for swimming and aesthetics.
Next episode, Dan and apple rescue an orphan Asian elephant. What's land prices in acres approx is somewhat more rural Thailand?
Prices vary a lot....especially when someone has borrowed against it for a loan and it is getting ready to be taken away :)

Wondering if the land we are developing is for sale? No, we bought it because it is across the street from our house. However, we have a ton of land in this area. Some adjacent parcels and others separated but nearby.

@dmexotics ever thought about splitting the pond up and having some big predatory fish would look pretty cool
The big pond is for predator fish so we aren't splitting anything up. The small water basin is for the emu and future capybara to swim in. We are going to add another 2-3 small ponds for other stuff but not fish.

Interesting video, good to see how the land is progressing. It's going to be interesting to see how things develop. Beautiful Kukri Snake, was that a young one or an adult? I know some Kukri Snakes remain quite small. The Kukri Snakes are named because the rear teeth supposedly resemble the Kukri Knife from Nepal and used by the Gurkha soldiers and also by the Nepalese people as a general tool.
I know all about Oligodon. I have bred them, I have been bitten by them, I have been bringing them into the hobby for at least 15yrs. That species is one of the smallest ones but in this area we also have one of the largest ones. It has been a long time since we had any rain and there doesn't seem to be much on the move.
They're interesting Snakes but I don't think we have any here in the UK. I could be wrong but I have never seen any. They have been here in the past I'm sure but people don't try to breed some species and they just disappear. It's a shame because they seem quite straightforward to keep.
Will you swim in the pond?
We did swim in there in a previous video but once those big predator fish are in there, I think it won't be a good idea.
