One thing you touched upon which resonanted with me, "This could have all been one species... Or all humans", but it wasn't. I think genre is beautiful because of that because yeah, you can have a giant with big swinging balls and an interstellar war and so on and so forth, but the real humanity of the story is achingly real. It honestly reminds me of how Dr. Who or Star Trek uses genre, and rolling up to those juggernauts is not small feat.
Finally had the time to catch up on your Saga video and loved it. I can’t believe this was a (mostly) new read for all three of you! I don’t have anything too insightful to add, but I completely agree with you guys about how heartfelt, breezy, deep, silly, beautiful, emotional, and fun this comic is. With every new volume, I’ve re-read the previous volume and a few times the entire series which I rarely do with other comics. It’s just such a quick but rewarding and effortless experience. Good stuff fellas!
So glad you guys have finally experienced the brilliance of SAGA! Most die hard fans stay quiet about Saga spoilers because they don’t want to ruin the surprises along the way that they got to experience… under pain of death! lol It’s all such a brilliant book!
55:33 YESS please do Ex Machina next I love that book it’s so good I think it’s just as good as Y the Last Man and Saga and pretty underrated as well nobody talks about this one as much as they do with Y, Saga and even Paper Girls
7,8,9 collect some of the best written, most painful and most beautifully collected stories I have ever experienced. I love those books with a passion and use them as a litmus to judge other books I read.
Hey guys. Just finished reading through the Saga Compendium and I couldn't agree more. Absolutely outstanding. I put it off for a few years thinking it would be childish nonsense but I couldn't have been more wrong. Loved Y but preferred Saga. Do you know how far past they are after the compendium? A trade or two?
So good, right?? I think I prefer it to Y as well, honestly. At least so far anyway. I believe only one trade has come out since their return from hiatus.
@@ImperiusRex Yeah it's fucked up. I was surprised how violent and sex filled it was too. Loved it. Brilliant writer he is. I've got my eye on the ex machina omnibus now. Have you read it?
Honestly Saga deserves the title “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius” more than the novel did. Such a perfect masterpiece of storytelling that WILL make you cry in heartbreak one moment t and in disbelief at how true the love you see on the page actually is. Such a great series and I hope it goes on forever honestly.
Has getting hunted by bounty hunters been a consistent thing throughout the series? What what I'm understanding the main storyline is 2 people from opposite sides had a kid and now people are after them
Indie comics are the best. Have ya’ll read and will ya’ll do a video on Michael Allred’s Madman? Madman has a cult following, but deserves more attention. The Madman Library Edition volumes are coming out right now covering the whole series, I think there’ll be five or six volumes total eventually if you want to cover those.
@@ImperiusRex Read when/if you have some free time. And can we agree that Madman’s character design is amazing? One of the best looking characters ever, cause it’s so simple and distinct at the same time.
This book contributed so much to me loving comics

Not going to watch this yet as I am just now reading saga for the first time I just finished the first hardcover and I am loving it
it's an amazing series!
I love volume 3 the most. what is your favorite volume of saga ?
Man- that's a tough one... I really liked the last two- just seeing everyone happy for a change... until they aren't.

Saga is great!!
I guess the real protagonist is actually Hazel.
I read the entire series in a couple of days, almost completely spoiler free. The only spoiler I’d seen for the entire series is that final page
that one's s doozy
I believe Brian & Fiona made a point in an early letters column that they never wanted to translate this story into any other medium other than comics
Man...I am so interested to find out who taught Dave to pronounce names & hunt them down The Will style for the evil they've wrought on the world.
Language is a construct Sam. Don't fall into how society, or authors, or sane people tell you to pronounce names.

Maybe one day I will read it
Worst case scenario, you don't jizz in your pants.

That is 100% the storyline throughout the book.

We plan to eventually- I've got the 2 Library editions they've released so far and have been wanting an excuse to get back into them.
