Its interesting how when this movie first came out it was considered a flop, but now today it is considered one of the greatest if not THE greatest movie of all time.
It wasn't a flop, it was a phenomenon. But it had been very expensive, not just to make, but to promote, so MGM didn't really see a profit on it until it had been re-released a couple of times. But it was re-released because people were clamoring for it. ;-)

I showed my 3yr old daughter this. Now she tries to skip around the house signing Follow the Yellow Brick Road. I find musicals are great for her as she is bilingual but speaks more German and than English. I'm an American living in Germany and most people around her speak German. Now she's singing these musicals in English.
Update: She just turned 5 and her English is pretty good. Although due to iPad videos and shows like Peppa Pig it is an American accent with hints of British & Australian.

The female Munchin in the green dress and yellow bonnet behind the fiddlers and to Dorothy's left was in perfect step and unison with Dorothy. Maybe the best movie of all time !

They filmed at the Winter Palace of the Russian State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. They had rehearsed for days, making sure to have everything in place when the camera moved through the museum, and on the first try, less than five minutes in, someone made a mistake. On the second take, they got it right, and the movie was done in a little over an hour and a half.
