Insane. 3 years ago I picked up a guitar cause of Metro and how you presented it. Stopped playing cause of some things that happened. This morning I picked it up and told myself I'd start again. Guess I know where to start.

Your fingerstyle is very superior would you try something from Opeth like To Bid you Farewell or Face of Melinde or maybe Patterns in the Ivy. You both teach and give us a good experience. I can suggest that band for you.

this is fingerstyle playing. I reccomend trying to learn some songs that incorporate this type of playing, so that your fingers get used to playing the strings. Sting has some songs with it, but if you are a complete beginer I reccomend learning his song called "Fragile" because it is relatively easy.
what you describe as mixing notes with chords can be quite easy. for example use your thumb to play the low E while your other fingers all play the other strings at the same time. You can try this with chords and a different rhythm and come up with cool melodies.
