- Easy, this tutorial is for anyone who want to use their Akai Force as a DJ device. It's long, and has a few moving parts, but when you understand the basics, you'll be able to do a lot with it.
Have fun!

This man came back from the year 2120 to teach us the force
😂
I realize I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good website to watch new movies online ?
@Nikolas Dylan meh lately I've been using flixportal. Just google for it :P -torin
@Torin Stanley thank you, I signed up and it seems to work :) Appreciate it!
@Nikolas Dylan Glad I could help =)
I've been waiting for something like this for a very long time, thank you.need some more DJ stuff.good tips.
The best video on Force out there for DJs. Thank you!!
I really appreciate your videos and how you figured things out to make this a DJ unit. I bought it mainly because I can write long techno live sets using Drum Programs and MIDI Tracks to control synths. I am also learning how to DJ with it in the near future. I produce on IPad but this could make the process much easier once I learn it well. This is the only all-in-one unit that provides all three possibilities and
Nice vid. Came across it just now after I co-incidentally made a template today along very similar lines. A couple of things I did differently: With the EQ macros I deliberately turned off 'momentary' reason: For long house/techno mixes hands need to switch eq knobs during the transition and if they jump back to 0db it kills the crafting. Also added 2 track volume knob macros on same page as eq's as different tracks are mastered at different levels. Lastly, second page of project knobs I assigned to fx sends (as momentary) for creative fx fills. This video very helpful regarding the management of start (loop) points, metronome and previewing songs to load. Thanks!!!
I was about to wrote the same thing :) you can't have eq on momentary when you transition to another song / sample couse sometime you will have to correct both sides but the idea shown on vid is great and I added track 3 for transition sample track, you can even add a jingle track. Unlimited possibilities you have.
Yr mad for this one, Tom. Brilliant.
Thank you my brother
Hey! an Englishman, and a northerner to boot, What is there not to like. Seriously though its refreshing to listen and learn from someone from my own country. I've Subscribed and given you a like, and I know I will be constantly referring to this video as there is no way this old fart will take in and understand all 47 mins of this video in one go. Thanks again for taking the time to teach us a little of what you know 😎😎😎
nice information..I need to probably get the Force to use with my turntables..
Thank you once again. BTW, you are a very sympathic dude.👍
Thanks, this will allow me to gain some creativity...
Amazing!
Have you used this along side Serato? Midi Synced to a controller? I'm thinking of that. Each project can have a set of added loops and sounds that can be thrown on top of what's in Serato. Thoughts?
My aim is to use this device completely self-contained. A lot of times I’ll come across other equipment that I know it would work brilliantly with, but then the question “can I do that on this?...” always appears. 9 times out of 10, it does!😄
@@nicethings Wonderful. I hope to get to that idea myself as I already have the stuff, just some other projects in my way. Cheers.
Love the channel and the delivery.
I just got a FORCE and I love it. I just wish it had a SYNC button... WARP doesn’t hold the song in the global tempo for the entire length of the song, it starts to waiver off tempo after a while on some tracks. Let me know if there is a fix to this! Keep it up man, great videos
Is the track you’re mixing a consistent tempo? Is the track loop starting on the downbeat? If these things remain true, your tune won’t go ‘off’. There’s a way round a track slipping, but it’s pretty advanced, that’s why I’ve tried to keep to the basics. Check my AUDIO TRACK video for tips on it.
@@nicethings yes the track is just 4 on the floor edm... no worries though, I was just wondering if maybe I needed to adjust something in my global tempo settings ("LOCK TO 1/4" or something?) or maybe in CLIP EDIT mode I need to adjust something with "WARP"... it seems even when the downbeats begin exactly the same, one may slightly drift, and they are consistent tempo. Thanks!
Interesting...maybe try changing snap to 1 Bar after you set the loop start downbeat. It definitely shouldn’t be going out on any 4/4 kick beat.
@@nicethings ok I will give it a shot, thanks for the help!
Can you loop certain sections within a track? for example I'll only loop the end of a track the last few bars in Ableton is that possible to do on the force?
Yep, you can do that. In fact, if you have good timing (metronome level!), you can loop on-the-fly, if you’re feeling daring. You might want to look at my newer Force DJing videos too.
Great Video....what you think is the max. Sampling time? 1 Hour or 2 Hours just asking because i ave no idea how long a set can be without discstreaming.
Max is 20mins (real terms -15), which is more than plenty enough for making tunes, Force ‘track’ prepared DJ sets. By 2021 there’ll be some form of streaming...
@@nicethings i hope streaming will come
But where did you get the information from? Hope its early 2021 :)
Interesting, unfortunatly way too much preparation to instill any inspiration to dj that way with it, but I definitely gained more ideas and tips from watching it. But as far as DJing with a sampler, Pioneer's DJS 1000 merks the Force in that regard hands down. Akai should take note if thats a direction they want to travel in the future....
True. But I have a feeling the upcoming firmware may change things... is this Serato.? No, but it’s an all-in-one, like no other.
If Akai added a pitch adjust like the DJS 1000 then the Force would merk the Pioneer. Thers so many different directions Akai can go with the Force, its so much an open concept design, possibilities are endless. I personally like using it as a 3rd or 4th deck in my dj rig and I feel its more suited to that instead of using it AS the dj rig itself....
Watch this space...
im not interesting in DJing, but theres plenty in this vid thats relevent to me. i was assigning knobs differently, but the method in this vid will be useful in some instances to me 😁. Cheers Tom
3:24 Is when vid starts
Give me my vinyl back!
😂
Yo Tom. I imagine you've figured this out by now, but you can edit the position of the song inside the grid so that the first beat starts on top of a line in the grid if you go to grid edit mode and click the mouse symbol at the top of the screen. Now you can click and drag the song across the grid.
