HongDian 6016 Fountain Pen Unboxing and Review 2021

- Опубліковано 24 лип 2024
- This is the fifth HongDian fountain pen I've reviewed. The HongDian 6016 is a wood and metal pen with a #6 size steel nib. I unbox it, talk about the parts and features of the pen, provide some size comparisons and measurements, and then do a writing sample. After the writing sample, I talk about what I like and what I don't like about the pen. Please feel free to use the chapters provided below to skip to various parts of the review.

I like that cap. Partly cause it's nice to have an actual Chinese element in a Chinese pen. Also cause I like it.
I like it too, better than the P135. On the P135, the symbols are quite rough to the touch where the 6016 is very smooth.
"Blue sky, happiness and luck with fire"......I almost fall from my chair!!!! . Nice review Doug, it's a shame of that stain of glue. Have a nice week.
Thanks, Guderina! The glue is more noticeable on camera than when writing with it.
Glad to see you again, and great pen. Greetings!
Many thanks!
Great review, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Mine arrived today! 02/19/24
Excellent ... informative and entertaining, as usual! But, why no "La Pitit Prince" for comparison ... cha cing! 💰💰💰
Good call! Send one over! LMAO!
If we lived on La Petit Prince budgets, we wouldn't have to look at P135s or 6016s. The cap is the defining feature of all three, even though it is so disproportionately weighted compared to the barrel.
Beautiful! That's one that I'll have to pick up!
Funny video. I like all the TV show clips you edit into your review. Nice pen, especially the cap but we need more dragons!
Nice review, nice pen, gorgeous ink. IMHO
I think so too!
Fun review. Looking forward to the Laban review. I have a non- skeleton Laban which I'll ink up for the occasion.
It is a very interesting pen. It has a couple of surprising flaws.
@@InkquiringMinds Don't they all. Often the good looks leas to some real flaws...not just in pens.
I have several Hong Dian pens, including four of the "Forest" series pens, and I like all of them. This one doesn't really "speak" to me. The cap is a bit too ornate for my tastes. I do, however, very much like the brief view of the J. Herbin Caroube de Chypre ink! I intend to get a sample of it soon!
The Caroube de Chypre is very coppery!
That's attractive. The No.6 nib is a big plus. I actually got into fountain pens because I'd had a really nice wooden one that I wanted to replace. Oddly, I went off down other avenues and don't have any wood ones at all. This hobby, eh? 😆
IKR?
wow, very nice
The best part is the cap, no cap 🧢 😆
Funny yet informative. Not my coup of tea but the pen writing prowess is a pleasant surprise. A shame the glue blob ruined the a little the overall look of the pen.
Thank you for the video.
Thanks, Jorge!
Made me have to check. The converter is also interchangeable with a Wing Sung, depending on what Wing Sung you have.
Interesting pen! I may look into getting one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it!
Thanks for the info! It is very dependent on which Wing Sung model since they are all over the place in sizes.
@@InkquiringMinds Very true. I have several that are international standard, the "Lamy/Parker" style, and I've seen some of the newer ones that are different, still. Basically, each one of the Wing Sung ones that works are the ones with the red knob, of what I have.
Here after 27 seconds!
Woot! Luca!
Tianzi still stuck in LA -California dreaming along the way.
A real bottleneck right there!
@@InkquiringMinds Could be a good place to start up a new business - a distributorship. A temporary home for lost pens on their way to Australia.
Doug. News Flash Tianzi piston filler arrived today 26/10/21!
Very cool! Finally!
@@InkquiringMinds JG3 review has reviewed on the Tianzi piston filler, unfortunately it does not have an ink window, include ink window for piston filler mechanism should be in SOP of pen manufacturing.
I love the P1000 (despite the weight), hated the unbalanced P135, but the 6016 seems like a happy medium.
Thank you, John!
Nice wood :).
Thank you! Cheers!
Wonderful! I have experienced Hong Dian steel and gold nibs (one gold nib), and find, curiously, that the steel is quite stiff, and the gold astoundingly flexible. Go figure.
Thanks for the info!
Good day all. I mentioned once that it seems you have reviewed just about every pen. I came across this pen recently, and behold you have already reviewed it. I saw you kept it for at least a year?
I wonder if you would know about a replacement nib for this pen? I see that most hongdian use a nib unit, you mentioned this one also does, but I have watched a few times and did not hear about this nib unit: only nib size(I am not confident in finding a nib alone to fit a pen?).
I love the cap of this pen. I have mentioned before that I was attracted to fountain pens as I keep track of my 易經: Yi Jing/I Ching journal. It included drawing hexagrams and kanji. The pen cap has the very characters I draw(Along with the other astrological items). I was wondering if you had an opinion on if it would be worth finding a fude nib for this simply out of love for the cap? Possible or not, is that just silly? Should I look for another version with similar motifs? I was actually looking at the HongDian simply because this wonderful community pointed me in this direction after my initial jinhao foray was hit and miss. I want a good writer obviously, a good nib(considering the xf since I like eastern Fine/Western XFine for all but fude pens).
I was hoping the audience is more familiar, or further along this path that is our hobby? Am I being silly wanting this old, heavy, and silly pen simply for the Oracle bone scripts? Is there even a fude nib that would fit this model of HD6016?(online HD nibs do not mention this model?).
As always I cannot thank you enough for both informational content and entertainment. I was, and am still, shocked at the size of this community. I am unsure if they all realize how much they share in common aside from the pens and ink, journaling...
This passionate community that revolves around a healing somatic hobby, practice, protocol? I just love how a simple nib can connect us all, to each other, and our selves.
Thanks, Al! The 6016 uses the HongDian #6 nib, feed and collar. Pretty much any Hongdian nib unit would fit this pen except the nibs in the HongDian piston fillers like the N6, N7 and N8 that are friction fit.
@@InkquiringMinds i wish I could leave the heart
Does anybody (Doug, are you listening?) know how to find a list of all the previous reviews Doug has done so I could find ones for pens I already own but would like to hear and see his comments about those pens? For example, one of my favorite pens is a Pilot Plumix with a fine stub nib. Fantastic, and I use it quite often. I heard Doug refer to that pen in one of his intro speeches to a recent review so I suspect there is a review to be found. And I'm sure there must be many others. But, how? Thanks, Team.

@@tommcnamara3303 Thank you so much Tom!!
So, can I get this in a ticonderoga #2. ¿
Yes. 1) remove the section and nib. 2) apply duct tape to attach to Ticonderoga #2. 3) Done
Very attractive....over all the body. Tq oops I meant the pen too😀
Welcome 😊

Lovely ink. You have to stop showing new inks like that...😷 😁😄 I have to many inks, I'll never go throught it all. For the pen, Nah not into wood pens. Thanks for the video.
I've had it for a while but this is the first pen that I've used it in that has shown off the copper shimmer well.
@@InkquiringMinds Just got the Vert Atlantide, but thus one was a close second. Got the Vert as it is a limited release just in case it sells fast.
Interesting looking pen but I must admit I've never been a fan of wooden pens.
You and me both!
I like my Moonman M6, although it has real issue with drying out fast if not used. My dropping it, and cracking the cap did not help with this, although it didn't make it noticeably worse. (It is just that bad from the get go.) It is a tincy tiny crack, so I still use it as it feels nice. Didn't get the 6016 yet as I figured it is just P135 in wood barrel and likely suffers from similar flaws, which apparently it does.
