Idk why it's so difficult to have good neighbors. My grandparents chose a good location. Their home has been there over 60 years and only one really horrible incident happened when I was a kid this neighbor fed my uncle's dog some turkey and it poisoned him. But outside of that one event the neighbors are decent. That woman who did that moved away after a couple years of being in the house.
The problem is that no one takes the time to get to know their neighbors. Everyone is so busy with their lives that they treat their neighbors like strangers. I didn't grow up like that. Thankfully, I live in a neighborhood with great neighbors but as people sell their homes and new people move in, it can change. It's just sad that no one takes the time to know their neighbors these days!!

Just creepy weirdos or people causing chaos in the neighborhood or guys who admit to watching you come and go. It's just not safe now to be super chummy. My grandparents neighborhood is nice though. Before my grandmother passed. Her and the neighbors would exchange veggies and eggs and I thought that was very sweet.
It really isn’t that hard to be a good neighbor. Be quiet and peaceful, mind your own business, and a simple “How do?” is all that is needed. That’s how I’ve lived nicely for years. Never had a bad neighbor interaction ever.

Here is the real problem, neighbors get mad when other neighbors stop thinking and acting like them. When people can't control you or have an influence over you, they don't want to be around you.
I lived on top of a mountain in Tehachapi. CA and can attest to the fact that people dumped their pets quite often. Mostly after Christmas. One time someone dumped 15 chickens. They were eaten before I could rescue them.
Ohmylanta I love Tehachapi! We had very similar issues when I lived out at Ft. Irwin- they would dump their unwanted pets in the middle of the desert for the coyotes. 😭
