      I'm an AirBB person, I enjoy the local aspect, but I also have my own personal beliefs that AirBB is destroying affordable living for all people in any tourist area (USA, CA, MX) so my suggestion would be to build a repeatable presence where locals can bypass AirBB and go strait to the owner. I do understand that people that revisit AirBBs usual make deals on the side after staying there once, but maybe consider including short and semi long term rentals into your real estate ventures?
      e: My tip would be: if you find an AirBB you like deal with them directly to book in the future.

    What a great conversation. As someone who is now so uncertain of her own country due to unimaginable poltiical disconnect, you two really approach this topic with so much kindness and respect. I am so grateful for the people in this world that can retain their curiosity and respect for different cultures and understand that we all mostly want the same things in this life-- love, peace and understanding. Thank you!!

    MLD logo is asking to be red white and green :) Best part of PV/Mexico travel is being able to shut off the politics and not dealing with that and just interacting with people one human level. Sounds like all is well with you, great to hear...hope you enjoyed your trip(s).

      Thank you 😊 we will be doing an episode soon about parenting here in PV. We send our kids to a small, full Spanish Montessori and they love it. There’s all kinds of private school here and we also know a family that sends theirs to public and they seem to like it.

      It used to be fun to have conversations with people that have differing opinions 🤷‍♂️ media has convinced us it's threatening. I guess we'll just connect on love, positivity and happiness ✌🏼

    Marc & Kathleen, I really enjoyed this discussion, and excited to hear about the upcoming videos you have coming. The short term and Long term rental tips will be very helpful. Many travellers try to find credible information online, and sometimes it is hit or miss. So, what you are doing is very much appreciated. I like that you are both exploring other parts of Mexico, and from what you describe, there is more to the region than is known. Puerto Vallarta is considered a small town, yet still growing. I am curious to know how big PV is now. Is it still smaller than a place like Toronto? The neighboring towns, are they far away or close enough to visit by bus for a day? I like learning about the different neighbourhoods. Thanks for keeping this channel positive and real. Victor

    Politics aside, I do think that US culture has elevated complaining to an art form. We experience something negative (a delay, a mishap, an odd or slightly unpleasant encounter) and we can't wait to relay this to our friends and family, and in the telling we make it into a good story (not pointing fingers, I was very adept at spinning these fun stories myself!). Now that I'm immersed in Mexican culture (and am avoiding US news and most social media) I do find that it is highly off-putting. When living there (US) it's just the norm; out of the US it's negative and draining. It's not that Mexicans never complain, it's just that they're more laid back in general and go with the flow. Recently delayed 2+ hours in a small bus due to a traffic issue (malfunctioned truck blocking highway, no alternative routes around it). There was no complaining. Zero. No heavy sighs. No tongue clucks. No negative body language. There was also no cell service in this mountainous rural area. Some got off the bus to do their business in the dark roadside; most just hunkered down watching the movie on the screen. It was glorious! I have found plenty of foreign residents who do continue this here, and it's hard to be around. Carry on!

      We feel the exact same way. Canada has become very similar. People connect on negative events that happen in their life, or negative irrelevant events on the news. It really took a toll on our overall mood and happiness when we went back to Toronto this summer. It has become the culture there, if you bring it up people get offended.

    I don't like those "seasonal" tourist locations. Everyone gets excited about people with money coming in, then depressed when people leave. Prices go too high, then too low.

      Thank you! Yes we do! We can keep our Ontario plates until we get permanent residency at which point you need to import it or sell it! I’ve had to issues driving around here. There is a process to follow if you do drive across the border here so just make sure to follow that!

    Hi guys, as a felow canadian living in a suburd of toronto, i have thought about moving to PVR. im wondering if you have had any regrets about leaving? Maybe a video about this would be helpful for others

    • @Morelifediaries
      @Morelifediaries  4 дні тому

      Hello fellow Canadian 🍁 the short answer is no! We don’t regret it, if for any reason we went back Canada and corporate jobs will always be there waiting for us! Are biggest regret in life would have been not doing it!
      That’s a great topic for a video - we have one planned on things we do regret/ things we would do differently.

    I am from the States and moved here 6 years ago. I have permanent residency . I call myself an expat = "Ex. Patriot " . It's more of a statement "about leaving" the US and not really about " being here ". I still hold my US passport.. my primary language is English almost exclusively. My bank accounts are in the US , as is my Business connection. . I would call myself an immigrant if I became a citizen of Mexico with full voting privileges and carried a Mexican passport as I live completely within the system.
    I see the term "immigrant" as being fully, absolutely immersed in the country having moved to. I think the entire argument about Expat versus immigrant title among ourselves is just ridiculous. You may call yourself whatever you wish. Why do others feel the right to call you out on how you see yourself in the world.. it's just an opinion and everyone has one and perhaps because it is an aging community here. It's much more testy. A lot of people , as the age, just get angrier instead of just enjoying life more and more with a devil may care attitude..
