You don’t deserve this at all, and it’s absolutely not fair, but if I’m being real with you, this test is going to make you into such a strong person. Right now it’s still fresh so I totally understand why you’d try to end it all, but I’m glad you failed at doing so, because you have so much more to live for man. And once you’re no longer feeling the mental and physical pain of this, and once you learn how to live and thrive with the way you are, you will ascend brother. We all go through our own struggles, some more grueling then others. But what’s important to keep in mind is that the more grueling the struggle, the more spectacular the triumph. He's Right! I probably went through the worst phase in my life in my early 20s. I legit saw no reason to live from age 20 and until age 24. I stayed because I couldn't do it to my family or my boyfriend who stuck with me through all of it when he really didn't have to. Even told him he was free to leave me at any point if it became too much. After 24 I began finding meaning again and even from 20 till 24 I had all these microscopic reasons to keep breathing beside the big one of not hurting my loved ones. After 24 I still did feel incredibly useless but I wanted to be better and I wanted to make the years that my boyfriend spent all his time and effort to help me, worth his time. Today I have a degree in comics and visual storytelling and I have a small company with a fantastic colleague and we are doing really well for our small size and for how new we are in the field. I wake up every single morning with a smile on my face and I only have good people in my life because I want to be inspired to be better and you need good people for that. My relationship is the strongest it has ever been and I am light years away from where I was back then. Hang in there my friends. When you come out the other side of your struggles, you will become a wiser and stronger and more empathetic person and you will have some life experience that you can use to help others. If I had offed myself I would have missed out on helping so many people it's not even funny. I thought I was useless and without value when I was younger but nowadays people need me for all kinds of reasons and there will be people who need you too. Right now it may seem completely pointless but someday you will find yourself in a position where someone tells you that their life would not have been this good or this much easier or rich without you. That is what is in store for you. So hang in there, friends

I’ve been having those thoughts lately & man everyday is almost a living nightmare, not waking up next to the person who brings the biggest joy to your life (We have no kids) makes you really realize how much they really meant to you..

This is the first time I've seen this clip, and I have followed Doc for quite some time. I know he himself has fallen onto hardship, but as he eloquently said.... things always get better. Don't give up.
When thinking about the struggles Doc later had both in private and public, partly or mostly due to his own choices for some of them, it's a good message. When he himself was in the gutter, he came back stronger than ever, and he's kept pushing ever since even with issues and bumps in the road. Live as you preach, clearly this wasn't empty words but words he himself live by.
We are here to experience all of the emotions, enjoy the ride guys. And things do happen for a reason... Don't let it get you down, pick yourself back up and keep going!

I find that pets are a great consolation in the times when I am getting down. I am in my final year of college so I don’t own my own dog yet, but I often think of my family’s dog. I mean I am a religious person too so there is that but my non religious and just mental health wise is to get a pet to keep you company man. It will change your life

Just when i thought i couldn’t like the Doc anymore. Good advice and I’ve dealt with depression for a long time. It’s hell but always focus on climbing out.
That’s excellent advice. I remember being depressed about my ex breaking up with me 10 years ago. Couple years later i barely thought about her ever.
just had a rude breakup now, I swear it feels like a step up this time.

I got into a really bad car accident yesterday. No one was hurt, thank God. But my car was totaled and my life feels like it is uncertain because that car was everything to me. But hearing this reminded me that bad things happen, and no matter what we can recover from them.
I really respect Doc for this.
