Cowgirls of Color - Breaking Barriers

  • In a sport dominated by white men, the all-female, all-black team is a rarity. At the Bill Pickett rodeo, the only black rodeo in the country, high-octane events such as bull riding and steer wrestling remain almost exclusively male. But every year brings more female contestants than the last. #SPMGMedia

I’m a beginner rider with 3 months worth of lessons under my belt. I have had a couple of not so good moments with Horses either getting spooked or taking on a mind of it’s on, and I’ve concluded they’re NO DIFFERENT than HUMANS😂😂
I absolutely LOVE this Journey and it definitely takes guts to do it. This video is encouraging to me as I have a GrandDaughter I’m grooming to one day ride and maybe compete some day. Great video

That's Wynter Floyd at 5:27. She has a bright future ahead of her. My heart overflows with pride, strength, and self-love when I see my sisters strive to achieve their highest potential and bring our Nation up. I will be rooting for Dana Carter, Wynter Floyd and Kanesha Jackson to make it big on the highest stages of the rodeo scene.

My people made it... Navajos are a regular part of
    the WNFR every year.
Derrick Begay, Erich Rogers, Cassidy Dennison, Spud Jones, and 🌎 🏆 s too!
It's very individual though, you have to leave yer comfort zone.

My fiancé is a retired black female barrel racer from Lawton, Oklahoma. Won many titles and was chosen rodeo queen a few times as well. She also raced her horse and beat many guys because her horse would run theirs down. I’m a city boy, I know nothing but asphalt and concrete, LOL. Don’t get me confused with being a buckle bunny or any of that!

Been around horses and cowboys my whole life. Noone cares what color you are. 30-40yrs ya wouldn't argue that it mattered. Just look at the Brazilian cowboys. They've dominated pro bullriding for years now. Them guys are machines and ilove watching then ride.

"An applicant desiring to become a PRCA Contestant Card member must first become a Permit Member and fill a permit by earning at least $1,000 at PRCA-sanctioned rodeos in an unlimited number of PRCA rodeo years" Believing it will work out for her!
