Came over from letsdig18. Chris stopped in on his way to the auction. Quite the operation you’ve got. Gonna be catching up on the videos. Thanks for sharing
0) Thank you for sharing this! :-) 1) WARNING: If I remember correctly, one shouldn't have a fluids pomp run unless full of fluid. (This includes pressure washers.) So that blue diesel-driven pump may already be damaged. (I forgot why, after nearly fifty years.) 2) Recreational use of that site: - Just mention "zip line" to DirtPerfect, and he'll be off. (He posted a video some two years ago about a beloved zip line that was to be removed.) - Here in the Netherlands, notably around Amsterdam, we have several lakes, all(?) of them discarded land reclamations turned into sand pits, some 40 metres deep. The sand would be used to build city quarters on, the water surfaces are used for swimming and boating, but the water is also used by diving clubs. Something with decompression chambers. In Germany, former lignite mines have been repurposed this way. You might leave abolished equipment as diving targets. 3) Commercial use of that site after "exhaustion": - I could think of future "lakes" as freshwater reserves, especially if there should be housing or farming "nearby". - These lakes would likely lie too low to accomodate hydro power, but there might yet be some use for flattening daily demand curves. (Pumping water up at times of idle generators, using it at times of high demand.) - I'm a vegetarian, but the "lakes" might be fit for farming certain fish. (Mind the birds this would attract!) - You're considering a "water park". You might also consider developing house lots around the "lakes". There may be some demand for home lots with diving right next to the garden, and (on the contrary) for lots with "endless" shallow waters. - Possible part of a water park: a lake with artificial waves for surfing, likely generated using solar power. (I wonder if you could invent some "solid-state" approach instead of generating electricity to drive a motor.) Imagine: a freshwater site for surfing, no sharks (unless farmed...), too shallow for drowning. If the wave generator could be afloat, on wheels or based on a shipping container, you could adjust the direction of the waves to that of the wind. (At angles may be fun.) 4) You mentioned that meandering drain of one area. You may get inspiration from a project under construction here: ua-cam.com/video/rduAVvQY0lE/v-deo.htmlsi=uvaT3-3VyFzI-NEI (Dutch spoken, English captions)
I use to do work for a gentleman who owned a sand company out of Greenwood. Help build many screen plants and worked on dredging equipment where he got river sand. He had several pits around Leesville and Gilbert area. One day I would love to see your operation.
Many years ago I ran the maintenance department for a company that processed Tabular Alumina. It at is the second hardest mineral on the planet. Take it up a notch, we crushed it to increase surface area, basically make it jagged and sharp. Screen and blend it for refractory use. The stuff was so abrasive that it would cut up anything! Metal was a contaminant in the end product so we lined everything with white gum rubber, the softer the material the more resistant to abrasion. We processed it down below.5 microns and you couldn’t keep it out of anything. The green button with the S on it wasn’t Start, it was Self Destruct! I know all too well about maintaining equipment! Lol Love the channel, keep it up!
Found you from DP an I got to say I am totally impressed with your operation!!! Outstanding an nothing wrong with dreams coz retirement is coming and be nice nest to live from
If you read comments on old videos... If your sand-mine has any areas that are being repaired back natural land then you should document it. My State has ignored these mines where now they have half a dozen in my county getting sued for allowing excessive amounts of chloride from their blue ponds to drain into the river that enters a lake used for drinking water. B/c of the high-levels of blue-chloride these mines in the floodway have obstructed the flow of water which is causing lots of illegal flooding & violating the NFIP(FEMA flood insurance) of floodplain areas.
28:23 All of that is FloodWay, I don't see any upstream issues where your levee might be obstructing too much flood flow but you should really check. There is one in my county that slowed 1500ft of the floodway below 3FPS & flooded out multiple neighborhoods beyond the 500yr flood-height.
Coming from a family with a limestone quarry I applaud you for your forward thinking. Also having a ace as your right hand man sure helps and my hats off to him.
the 4th of July slide sounds great, hope you film it and share with us a good day of fun and relaxation for all the hard working people you have working for you, great video 👍👍👍👍👍
Always amazing what can see, different dirt and aggregate, when you get a large area like you have open. Where I am we have 4-6” of topsoil then it’s hard brown dirt and lots of round rock from 2” to 2’. The 80 acre to the west of me has some rolling terrain that has some wonderful bank run gravel they leave sit. I got permission to build a backstop where the hill collapsed made a nice 500 yd range. When you get that place cleared out you have the makings of a “park” for gun dog training, add a shooting range, sporting clays. A friend of mine bought an old used and abused farm with some low area along the river. They have been going for 15 years now, made improvements yearly, I put roads in a few years back and they are able to stay open through November and open the higher part in March. This year I’m putting in a pen to raise Red Legs Chucker for sale to the trainers.
Great video, plus a fantastic idea on the slip & slide....would be the best around I reckon. Abother good one would be a rope from the bucket of the Hyundai excavator swing people around into the pond....lol....good fun that would be. Thanks for sharing the Atomic sand tour...Paul.🙂
Just saw the video on your site of how you recycle stuff! On dirt perfect! Channel! Mike was very impressed and I was too! So much so that I am new subscriber! Continued success! 👌👍
You asked abut large plastic for your slip and slide idea. Farmers that put silage in ground pits (silos) cover it with plastic. I have no idea where they buy it but I'm sure it comes for an agriculture farming supplier. It is black on one side and white on the other. It is very strong and thick.
Your water park sounds pretty good and I wish that I could be there to see the grounds and dream along with you. What are those large white rolls that you bury in the landfill? Could they maybe used in the water slide? Just thinking and dreaming. Good luck with your DREAM!!
Excellent video. I don't know if you plan on doing the slid every year. If so, maybe you could find a cheap ski lift to bring people back up to the top, and slide back down. My name is Ralph and I live one hour north of albany ny. Lake George area
Thank you for opening your operation to Dirt Perfect for a video recorded tour….I loved it. I heard that Let’s Dig 18 is going to post one too and look forward to that one as well. One of my favorite things is to see how things are made or how a business operates. The diversity of operations you have in that one facility is immense. Kindly consider making a few of your own videos that end up becoming a playlist of all your separate parts. It might reveal some inner dealings (removing the fear of the unknown) with certain disciplines that could benefit others. Like those considering implementing a plan to reduce the amount of buried treasures that get wasted in a landfill environment. Here’s a question: do you have magnets or any other means to capture metal that might get processed through your crushers or shredders? I suspect that you probably have a process that tries to keep it out from the start.
Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate your idea on the playlist too. Yes, both the crusher and grinders have super strong magnets to remove any metal from the final product. Both belt and head pulley rare earth magnets. Thanks again!
Hey Mr Digg, I'm just wondering if you had an electro magnet crane catching and metals in the land fill. As the trucks are dumping and before the dozer gets it, maybe you can recover some metal and put in a dump truck, you should recover enough to pay for the fuel for the day, .
For the slip and slide take a loader rim and tire mount to a dozer blade to make a groove in the sand. It will keep you in a straight line to the water. Dish soap will burn the eyes and it does not taste good.
I am a civil superintendent at SRS I would love to come visit your site someday as well I need some fill for my place you know where i could get any???
Once the sand runs out that pit wound be nice as a dirt park. A place to take your birt bikes, mountain bikes, atvs, tricked out farm trucks, doing jumps, mud bogging, obstacle crouses. Could still fit in a zip line or three also.
Thought about that, but im afraid it still might be too abrasive with the sand particles in it. Thanks for the idea though! I hope I can pull this thing off!!???
Might be you already have a great Slip-N-Slide in that kaolin seam. Just wet it down; no plastic required. And "mud-hole" play is getting popular. Win-Win. :)
Mr Digg i thought purple Kaolin was worth money it,s very expensive to buy a 1kg bag of it. i love your recycling operation the rest of the USA needs to follow your example.
Yes, you are correct. I looked into it a few years ago, but ours was too high and some element that I can’t remember right now, I think boron. I was looking into it for the cosmetic industry.
i love the giant slip and slide idea but you may want to talk to a lawyer on properly making waivers to protect you and your business as these day seems everyone be looking to get rich by suing. as well as looking into what safety measures you might need in place to alleviate some liabilty
I’ve been mining for 10 years now. Don’t think I’ve ever been through an inspection where the mine didn’t get atleast 1 violation 😂 I will say though having a bunch of people running around for a party might be something msha doesn’t take to kindly too. Not sure how that whole thing would work out so might want to look into that first before you get to far into it.
Isn’t the pit for the landfill coated with something, to prevent seepage into the groundwater? A landfill I often drive by, had to be dug up, cause the seal cracked, and it seeped into the groundwater. Man, the stink was incredible, smelt like sh!t for miles and miles😂
you should be able to settle out sand at scale using the landscape and stormwater - at a very low cost (water, gravity) - use reservoirs to adjust the volume for specific size drop out in your planned effluent channel - create a bloom the required size granulation right next to an excavator platform; in my head anyways. :) great show, good stories.
Not sure how you would look in a bikini bub, maybe keeping one eye closed will be the ticked to watching the slide. Hey great video by the way. Safe travels. Ken.
Slip and slide sounds kinda fun but I wouldn’t risk the public being on the land sounds like law suit waiting to happen people will do anything for free money
Dirt Perfect sent me here and glad he did. The world needs more guys like you innovating on how to reuse stuff. Very interesting operation.
I really appreciate this comment!
Terry is the next Boomhauer holy crap
Hi, Dirty Perfect sent me. It's amazing the Mining inspector didn't sight you for anything. A zip line sounds great.
Thanks for coming over to check us out!

Oh yeah, lotta sand in Gilbert!
Yeah! A Water Park would be a great idea!

Great suggestion! Thanks Paul!!
Came from Dirt Perfect video, wow what an operation.

Your water park sounds pretty good and I wish that I could be there to see the grounds and dream along with you. What are those large white rolls that you bury in the landfill? Could they maybe used in the water slide? Just thinking and dreaming. Good luck with your DREAM!!
Those rolls are fiberglass, probably wouldnt feel to good on the butt!

Hi I'm Ken came over from dirt perfect ❤❤❤
Hey Ken, I appreciate ya bud!
I'm wondering if you try to market the kaolin? It's used in paper, paint, makeup to mention a few.
Unfortunately dont have enough of it. Thanks for watching & commenting I appreciate it!
I forgot to say that DP turned me on to you also. Thanks DP
saw a video from dirt pefect the other day just come by to check it out really nice thank you
Thanks for coming over to check out the channel!
Mr. Digg use a pond liner for a slip n slide
Good idea!
Southern ingenuity at it best for a water park!
We trying!
Over from Dirt Perfect, fascinating operation
Thanks for coming to check out our channel!!
Excellent video. I don't know if you plan on doing the slid every year. If so, maybe you could find a cheap ski lift to bring people back up to the top, and slide back down. My name is Ralph and I live one hour north of albany ny. Lake George area
Hey George! Ski lift would be an awesome idea, unfortunately we dont have many ski resorts nearby…..to hot down here! Thanks for watching buddy
I think you should do that!!
Totally agree!!! 👙

Came over from Dirt Perfect . I just realized this plant is next to my shop just up the road from you I’m at Team industrial
Hey neighbor! 👋
Found you thru Dirt Perfects video, I am from West Texas.
Hey over there in Texas! I sure appreciate you coming to check out my channel!!👍👍
Hey Mr Digg, I'm just wondering if you had an electro magnet crane catching and metals in the land fill.
As the trucks are dumping and before the dozer gets it, maybe you can recover some metal and put in a dump truck, you should recover enough to pay for the fuel for the day, .
Yes, I have a video of the hyundai excavator rigged with a magnet. Works great!
Slip and slide sounds great. Saw ya on dp
I think it’ll be fun, thanks for coming over to check out my channel!
For the slip and slide take a loader rim and tire mount to a dozer blade to make a groove in the sand. It will keep you in a straight line to the water. Dish soap will burn the eyes and it does not taste good.
That’s a GREAT idea, thanks!
A slip and slide would be cool lol question is there no market for that kaolin you have allot of marketable material there still
Unfortunately not enough
Hey ya! From San Antonio TX
Hey there in San Antonio !!
I think your slip and slide idea would be awesome. Definitely need to video that if you do it.
I think I’m going to try and pull it off, don’t worry I’ll film the hell out of it! 🍻
I am a civil superintendent at SRS I would love to come visit your site someday as well I need some fill for my place you know where i could get any???
You’re right down the street!
great operation you got going on the wife loves your garden center. Chris sent me over to ya glad he did@@TheRealMrDiGG
How many acres? Looks huge!
About 180
Looks like double that. When knowledge and experience combine equal impressive results!
DP sent us. love the idea about 4th of July! just coat the plastic with baby oil...lol
Thanks for coming over to check us out, I hope I can pull the fourth of July party off!
I think the July 4th plan would be awesome and a future water park would be amazing. Great ideas man.
I think so too!
You need to get yourself a mini jet boat to play in your dredge pond with ! ha ha ha You wont be disappointed !
That would be awesome!!!
Once the sand runs out that pit wound be nice as a dirt park. A place to take your birt bikes, mountain bikes, atvs, tricked out farm trucks, doing jumps, mud bogging, obstacle crouses. Could still fit in a zip line or three also.
It would be one hell of a mud bog!
Sounds like one heckuva party
Let’s do it!!!
You gotta do the Atomic blowout for the 4th. That would be a great time!
💯 agree!!
Make the slide from kaolin. Cut a flume into the dirt and line it with kaolin.
Win-Win. :)
Good eye! I thought about but theres a few too many sand layers to make it work. I sure appreciate you watching & commenting !!
What about places that make plastic for greenhouses.
Wellington Ohio over here.
Dirt perfect sent me over.
Great idea, I’ll check. Thanks forwatching up there in Ohio!
The question is, how long till Mr. Digg gets his silver play button! my geuss is before 4th of july!
Wouldn’t that be cool??!!
Dirt Perfect sent us over super cool stuff y’all are doing all in for a big slip n slide and bikini. From Weatherford TX
Hey down there in Weatherford, thanks for coming over and checking us out!
This might have just taken the place on Dirt Perfect channel he's now #2 great video
DP is such a great guy, thanks for coming to check out my channel!!!
Dirt perfect sent me here. I use to run a concrete crusher. Was a lot of fun.
Thanks for coming to check out my channel, they are lots of fun to run!
first here i hope everyone has a great day
Hope you have a great day too. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Spooooooooonsssssss! US Plastics in Ohio sell 100' Plastic Tarps or you could get a Grain bag they come in 100' rolls.
Good to know! Thanks
Can you put finner screens in the washplant to wash the rocks and put a conveyor to catch the rocks and pile them in a different location?
Good idea! We’ll have to do something similar for sure to catch the rock. Thanks for watching & commenting!
Have you seen this documentary? The Sand Mafia
No, but I’ll Google it now
I wanted to see the discard up close where you said it rolls up in balls.
I’ll try to show in future videos, I am sure its in older videos though
On the cutter head just get ahold of DP AND HE WILL GET MBTS talk to him
lol
i love the giant slip and slide idea but you may want to talk to a lawyer on properly making waivers to protect you and your business as these day seems everyone be looking to get rich by suing. as well as looking into what safety measures you might need in place to alleviate some liabilty
Done did it. 👍
It has crossed my mind, but if I do it, I think I’ll just ask for forgiveness because no way they’re gonna give me permission
Tiny sand pit compared to New Jersey sand mines lol.
Yeah, we're on a much smaller scale here lol
Isn’t the pit for the landfill coated with something, to prevent seepage into the groundwater?
A landfill I often drive by, had to be dug up, cause the seal cracked, and it seeped into the groundwater. Man, the stink was incredible, smelt like sh!t for miles and miles😂
We dont have to have a liner since we dont accept any material that could contaminate groundwater. 👍
Put in a place for camping
Not a bad idea! Thanks for watching
I like his idea make it an extreme waterslide with lots of baby oil lol women daisy dukes slipping and sliding away makes for a hella 4th of July lol
I just saw the Dirtperfect video . Your compost department can be more efficient
Thanks for watching, how do you think we can be more efficient??
Alot of baby oil lmao sounds perfect lol
slip and slide ? i cant see one thing that could go wrong. LOL!
lol, right?!
Yes to the 4th of July slip and slide
I want to try and have that party so bad!!
Get Dirt perfect. He can get that dirt out from the water. He got that big old drag line.
Funny, you say that, because he said the same thing when he was here!
you should be able to settle out sand at scale using the landscape and stormwater - at a very low cost (water, gravity) - use reservoirs to adjust the volume for specific size drop out in your planned effluent channel - create a bloom the required size granulation right next to an excavator platform; in my head anyways. :) great show, good stories.
I think this exactly what we are gonna try, thanks for watching!
I think the slip n slide would make for an awesome video, especially with bikini women!
Couldn’t agree more !!
Not sure how you would look in a bikini bub, maybe keeping one eye closed will be the ticked to watching the slide. Hey great video by the way. Safe travels. Ken.
