One of my favorite artists. Childlike, free consciousness like 'free jazz' and I think they called it 'brute art' if I'm not mistaken. He collected artworks by children and by mentally disabled people and cherished the innocence and free expression he found in them.
I wouldn't call a guy who operated on the cerebral cortex with a tin-opener and anal-probe a surgeon & I wouldn't call someone who couldn't draw & paint an artist.
