The problem with surrounding yourself with superior musicians is that the superior musicians don't have the patience to teach a novice.
he may be a great guitarist and a man with good principle. his views on music is an immature one. but the choice is his own. music is a life form it transcends all boundaries and barriers. after all Tamil Christian music evolved from Kerthanai tradition which was the vocal musical forms of royal courts and temples. we need to understand cultural underneath that Christians share with the larger tradition of the Tamils.
Don't think it's right to call it immature. It's what he believes is right and uses the Bible as a basis for that. From what I understand, it's not raagas or anything that he feels is wrong. It's the words that give praise to other gods. Music may transcend all but it doesn't transcend God. I personally play hindu songs and I'm a Christian but I don't pay attention to or gice value the lyrics or the meaning and only think of it as cultural music and not spiritual. And that's just my view. But in no way is his view immature.
Music is music and God is God. I fail to understand what is meant by other Gods?
i least bother about his personal life. the way he projected himself in the concert looks so immature. I make this reflection from the expectation of a first generation christian or from a christian who is new to the faith.

Dear Keba... Your journey in music some times difficult in this sub Continent with different cultures. You say about other God... Its upto you & own desiration whether you commit your work with them or not. Especially that "Slogams" .. In another way if we go deeply in all religious teachings in the world which is end up with Jesus Christ. If you try to get real meaning of those slogas,mantras , upanidams , vedas all are finally targeted to One Great God ...but he was called by different names according to their belifs. Dont hear to man's ideas ... Because we christians have lot of different doctrinces with one another in our sects itself ..they may confusing you... Ask God our Lord then the Holy sprit will teach you the right way for your journey. If we strongly Believe in God nothing will affect you or harm you or shake you..or pulling you .. where ever you go.. music is universal language ... You can love every humans through that. Dont neglect peoples by religious manner. Join them by music whatever religions they belongs to... Your good Gods fearing character will make them to question about Jesus christ.. there you will be a testimony to our Lord... Because you are having chance to go to search of that ONE LAMB... which is gone from out of 99 Lambs. If you are advised to stay in church itself you cannot have a chance to go to Spread the Good News to unknown peoples. The musicians of slogas never allowed Pasters to their place but they can allowed you there.. Because you are gifted with music. Finally you can teach your Lord atleast one guy who not known the real Lord.
I am also in cine field have lot of chances to tell my Lord to unknown peoples daily. They are loving our Christ when we Love them Instead of negleting them.

In his past he played for his enjoyment but now he plays for the Joy of the Lord and worship to God.. Because he knows from where the source of Joy and peace comes in life... That's the difference.. He already cleared up the basics now and is looking forward to upgrade himself ...
