[Do you teach us about the prayer?] You are deprived of a mother!’ Then he said: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) combining the Dhuhr and ‘Asr prayers and also the Maghrib and ‘Ishā prayers.’ ‘Abdullah Ibn Shaqīq said: “Something stirred in my heart regarding what he had said. the hanbalis are all over the map on this but it is *tehnically* a valid opinion within the madhab. the majority of ahlus sunnah says the this is not appropriate to do, unless one starts his travels before fajr though
Can you please explain what you mean when you mean by the following: (1)"Hanbalis are all over the map on this one" When we are looking for the what the mathab says its very clear e.g. al-Mardawi in al-Insaaf mentions وقال أبو حنيفة، ومالك، والشافعى : ا الصومُ أفْضَلُ لمَن قوى عليه[(٧/٣٧٣)] Note that the opinion that its better not to fast is held by ibn Umar, ibn Abbas, Saeed ibn al-Musayyab, as-Shaabi, and al-Awzaai which are two relied references in the Hanbali mathab (2) "technically a valid opinion within the mathab".This is an accepted opinion inside and outside of the mathab as is stated in books of comparative fiqh like الموسوعة الفقهية: إذا نوى في سفره الصوم ليلا وأصبح صائما من غير أن ينقض عزيمته قبل الفجر، لا يحل فطره في ذلك اليوم عند الحنفية والمالكية، وهو وجه محتمل عند الشافعية، ولو أفطر لا كفارة عليه للشبهة ... Secondly, it's irrelevant whether or not other mathabs agree with it or not since every single mathab has opinions in it which they oppose the other three mathabs and this does not necessarily mean the opinion is wrong. A discussion on the issue is not a problem. The problem is making ambiguous comments without basing it on sound sources and understanding of the issue.

This is messed up. The sunnah for traveller is to break his fast if he travels before Dhuhr prayer and reaches the distance which considers him a traveller. Not before he travels and definitely not an hour before maghrib within the city he resides. And whoever is blind in this, he shall (also) be blind in the hereafter; and more erring from the way.
Best to study he issue first before making random comments. There are a number of points here (1) The airport in those days was considered outside the city area so when one reached it he was considered a traveller. (2) The Prophet ﷺ himself broke his fast whilst travelling after Asr (3) The opinion of the Hanbalis which anyone who has done even a superficial study would know is that it is sunnah to break the fast whilst travelling and disliked to fast whilst travelling based on evidences. If you're going to reply to this comment do so with proofs not with your understanding, emotions and desires.

You are allowed to break your fast when travelling if its overwhelming and you also not in need to fast. However, to fast is better than not to fast as the more struggle you have (within limits), the higher the reward.
actually the prophet said: 'It is not an act of righteousness to fast while traveling.”
so it’s better to eat while traveling, but if you fast thats ok

Jazaka Allahu khairan*
the hanbalis are all over the map on this but it is *tehnically* a valid opinion within the madhab. the majority of ahlus sunnah says the this is not appropriate to do, unless one starts his travels before fajr though
Can you please explain what you mean when you mean by the following:
(1)"Hanbalis are all over the map on this one"
When we are looking for the what the mathab says its very clear e.g. al-Mardawi in al-Insaaf mentions
Likewise Ibn Abu Umar in Sharh al-Kabeer mentions
Note that the opinion that its better not to fast is held by ibn Umar, ibn Abbas, Saeed ibn al-Musayyab, as-Shaabi, and al-Awzaai
which are two relied references in the Hanbali mathab
(2) "technically a valid opinion within the mathab".This is an accepted opinion inside and outside of the mathab as is stated in books of comparative fiqh like
Secondly, it's irrelevant whether or not other mathabs agree with it or not since every single mathab has opinions in it which they oppose the other three mathabs and this does not necessarily mean the opinion is wrong.
A discussion on the issue is not a problem. The problem is making ambiguous comments without basing it on sound sources and understanding of the issue.

So we are supposed to fast after Ramadan if we break it, right?
You must make up the number of days you broke after Ramadan yes.

It's permissible as a traveller to break one's fast even if it be an obligatory fast.
The Shaykh's opinion is that it's better to
break the fast whilst travelling irrespective ofthe circumstances of the travel which is the Hanbali mathab view supported by textual evidences of course. So, according to them the sunnah is that it's better for the traveller to break his fast and its disliked for him to fast whilst travelling.

Is this for ramadan or voluntary fasting.
Ramadan
This is not mandatory, but optional. If we fast, will we be committing haram?
This is not related to travelling. Read the tafseer of this ayah. Then I suggest that you remove the comment !

Fast a˺ prescribed number of days. But whoever of you is ill or on a journey, then ˹let them fast˺ an equal number of days ˹after Ramaḍân˺. For those who can only fast with extreme difficulty, compensation can be made by feeding a needy person ˹for every day not fasted˺. But whoever volunteers to give more, it is better for them. And to fast is better for you, if only you knew.

am confused
was fast during ramadan and he was traveling or just a normal fast but hes was traveling, also if it was during ramadan and the sheil had breaking it early did he have to remake the fast after ramadan ?
either way even if it was in ramadan it’s ok to eat if you’re traveling, and yes he has to fast a day ofter ramadan , like if you are sick for a couple of days in ramadan you eat and then fast them after Ramadan, same with woman’s period, and so on

That's not referring to fasting whilst travelling
@@saifulllah4518 Sura Baqara 2:184… but who is it talking about then? I truly dont understand
@@hogi9822 You can read tafseer and see that initially fasting was optional. So one was given a choice whereby he could fast or pay a compensation. It was mentioned in context that its better to fast. After that the fasting of Ramadan became obligatory without any choice. So, the verse is not referring to fasting whilst travelling
Only one hour was remaining, if he would have continued the fasting it would have been better. Allah knows best.

Fasting and travel have many guidelines unnecessary travel is one of them.
i work as a field tech, you're saying i shouldn't fast at all then?
if you travel everyday more than 70KM, then yes you can eat, but for example, if you didn’t fast for 20 days in Ramadan, you should fast them after ramadan when you have the time , like holidays

After break the fast while traveling, we have to make it up later?
Yes, if it is an obligatory fast.
Did Shaykh (Rahimullah) make up the fast later? Or is the fast complete and not nullified?
Yes, if the fast is fard/obligation, then he has to make up for it. In any case, the fasting is not complete.
Is there anyone else can explain to me why did shaykh break his fast to follow sunnah while fasting in ramadhan is an obligation?

This is messed up.
The sunnah for traveller is to break his fast if he travels before Dhuhr prayer and reaches the distance which considers him a traveller. Not before he travels and definitely not an hour before maghrib within the city he resides.
Surah Al-Isra, Verse 72:
And whoever is blind in this, he shall (also) be blind in the hereafter; and more erring from the way.
Best to study he issue first before making random comments.
There are a number of points here
(1) The airport in those days was considered outside the city area so when one reached it he was considered a traveller.
(2) The Prophet ﷺ himself broke his fast whilst travelling after Asr
(3) The opinion of the Hanbalis which anyone who has done even a superficial study would know is that it is sunnah to break the fast whilst travelling and disliked to fast whilst travelling based on evidences.
If you're going to reply to this comment do so with proofs not with your understanding, emotions and desires.
And whoever is blind in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter and more astray in way. 17:72
