    This is a method of operations that I am no longer doing. This is good information never the less but if you want to catch up on the new direction I have went to, check out this play list instead: ua-cam.com/play/PL24h_2UNNSCYgqri3pPs3mf9cOKUWxaWR.html

    Another Great video Train Freak. You have helped me to better understand how to set-up and use MiTrains. This opens up a whole new World for me! Thank You Train Freak!

    You know you can print that in Landscape and get 5 cards. If you have a paper cutter, Peter added a feature for me that just prints " + " at each corner. Line the paper cuter up with the " + " and you avoid the lines on the side of the cards. And it looks to me like you have a paper cutter.

      Looks like I need to give Peter a call. I was able to help him over the phone when his FTP server went down.

    I almost didn't watch because I tend to not really understand but I'm glad I did. Very informative and easy to understand. Just a fyi most cleaning products tend to be a hazardous material load. Ex trucker and any time I hauled cleaning material it was always a hazardous load

      Good to know. I knew mostly tankers and some covered hoppers would be hazmat. I will have to play with the waybills system before I do a video on it as I'm also new to operations.

    Thanks for your nice done video it helped me a lot to create own car cards, but onto my layout I am using passenger train car routings in addition, specially for the traject ferry acrossing a river.
    Happy railroading,
    Ingo R.

      You're welcome! Since I've made this video, I've changed a lot of what I am doing including a build on a new layout. That would be cool to see the ferry operatate.

      @@TheTrainFreak Well I am living at Lübeck (Luebecca) at northern germany, a free trading town of the middle age with a long railroad history of a private RR which operated as stock holder Company from 1852 to 1936 before it became a part of the state RR.
      Me I am modelling one secondory branchline as my mainline of my fictional private railroad in the year of 1908 wgen germany was under leadership of the prussian king as ceazar for germany of Wilhelm 1rst, then 100 days long by his father and later by his son of Wilhelm 2nd. At prussia it gave from 1898 to 1908 a ten year practical test of a more stronger version of the Janney Coupler and the late 1890's were the decade to import US American Locomotives and several cars for test in addition, to copy them by german locomotive and car works.
      Did you know, that the Archbar Trucks are based upon Prussian Desighn and engeneering technologies, brought to the Pennsylvania Railway in mid of the 1870's?
      Some Santa Fé RR buildings are based upon prussian railroad buildings. A lot of american and canadian RRs changed Ideas and technologies with prussian railroad engineers in both ways.
      Well my fictional RR is operating a RR ferry across a river close to the baltic eastsea moth of the trave river at a subburb of Luebecca.
      The car operations across he river are requiring car cards for operations in car routings, not all cars are trajected to the other side of the river.
      So a lot of interesting car operations are possible.
      At Luebecca the local slaughterhouse operated daily between 30 to 45 loaded cars with packed meat products to ship it internationally up to denmark by RR.
      Empty cars are returned to their home yards or unloaded cars are required from car pools from elsewhere.
      A busy private RR line I do build as modular layout as point to point layout alongside some walls of my living room.

    According to google, Colgate Polmolive has factories in New Jersey, Tennessee, and Ohio. There may be more and there are also warehouses. Very informative for anyone using car cards, especially this software.

    Just a suggestion, you should have had links to "my trains software". (FYI; I'm an "olde phart", My last layout was in 1979, I used colored thumbtacks in the cars back then. I'm in the planning stage for my "retirement" layout now and I'm trying to learn the more accepted method being car cards.) Your presentation was pretty darn good! People with the basic software with windowz should be able with that. Me, I'll prolly use photoshop. It might have been adequate to show the method using but one car and in the final part explain the reasoning why to do 3 at a time. Still I liked what you did. Good Job!

      Thanks for your kind comments.. Give me a few minutes and I will take care of that for you and add it to the video description. IMRROcom is who created the video that sold me on the software but the only thing I am doing different is using pictures of the cars instead of texted descriptions. I'm glad you liked and found this useful!

      @@TheTrainFreak "pictures are worth a thousand words", I do like your method and explanations. The only thing is I will have to eventually add a digit or replace a digit on my car numbers because I have many duplicate cars. Particularly all my old Tyco / Mantua operating hoppers. I got lots of them. LOL Also check your account at gmail.

    What software do you use?

    • @TheTrainFreak
      @TheTrainFreak  4 роки тому +1

      This software is called MiTrains. It is part of the Shenandoah software suite. I just found out their website is down due to some technical issues but the owners email address is listed if your wanting more info. Waybills is the other software used to create the waybills for the car cards.

      @@TheTrainFreak Once you start to get into computer control and switch list, It opens up a huge can of problems. CC&WB are something natural people can use and pick up, Getting things in order and matching what you have is key. Much harder to do with Switch List unless you are used to them. With CC&WB you can start and stop when ever you feel like or skip a job etc. much harder to do with a computer based program. I started out with computer based being all high tech etc. but come to fine out I just like the manual CC&WB. If you can play Rummy or Go Fish, you should not have a problem handling CC&WB

    • @TheTrainFreak
      @TheTrainFreak  3 роки тому +1

      Very good to know. Setting up the WB is very time consuming, CC not so much. I was introduced to Switchlist when I visited Flying Crow a few months back and he did a pretty good how to video series on setting it up but I also know he is still learning and tinkering with it.
