All i can say is don’t think universal healthcare is much better. Over here in the uk you have multiple year waiting lists for basic treatments and i know of multiple people who have died from easily preventable causes purely because of the ridiculous waiting times
This guy being a registered psychiatric nurse (big lore bomb) out of being a big time UA-camr is rather shocking to me. I've literally always had time to ponder about any other UA-camr, what their job is, whether or not it's full time UA-cam, but because you never stray out of your lane, it was actually pretty startling.
I like that the Sharon bit ends with real body positivity and not the toxic "it's okay to be extremely unhealthy because you shouldn't care how you look" kind
I prefer body neutrality. Not every body is healthy, or good, but it's your body. If you can deal with what your body is, that's fine. As long as you can acknowledge it for what it is
@@privpi only thing's missing now is body negativity, something along the lines of esoterical and occult ways of leaving your body -and leaving it to the spirits and demons to possess-

Give it a break already lol I swear y’all see one dumbass on tik tok say something stupid and then misrepresent the entire “body positivity” idea and it’s kind of embarrassing on your part. Anyone with a brain or common sense can understand that people aren’t saying obesity is okay and that you should be totally fine being 600 pounds and eating until you die. They are simply saying that you should love yourself and your body how you are, hating yourself doesn’t serve any good and usually just hurts people actually.
The US healthcare system isn't just bad, it's almost criminal. Standard policy is the more important something is the less likely you are to get your insurance to cover it. If you want something like a P pump it's covered. However if you need a heart transplant or bypass the company will delay as long as possible hoping you die before the claims go through.
@@trainman9024 Eh "Free healthcare" has it's issues too. A lot of it is because the Govt covers the bills health care providers and pharma companies just keep inflating their prices. They also often only cover basic health care. If you have anything more serious it's usually not covered at all, or your put on multi year long waiting list. So yeah both systems are rather broken when it comes to serious health issues.
@JustaGuy_Gaming its incredibly difficult to fault socialized Healthcare in the west, because in my opinion the two worst examples are from countries who're trying to follow the US's Healthcare practices. Canada for example has socialized Healthcare, but decided to institute policies like MAID to circumvent medicating/treating its mentally ill and, more importantly, its poor. All while opening its borders to essentially exploit immigrants (people who coincidentally don't get citizenship.) The UK also has Healthcare issues after the tory government essentially sold off the bones of the NHS to "private investors" who in turn decided they wanted to focus on procedures that would keep people paying for life. For profit Healthcare is a fucking sham and insurance ghouls are a gaggle of subhumans.
@@saltybro2544 My eyes were opened to the issue with insurance from my Dentist. I could get something like half price if i paid in cash. It's for two reasons, one any deal with insurance basically doubles the price so they can offer you the "savings" of only paying the deductible. Two the system is so convoluted and requires so much paper work to file claims most medical practitioners just prefer cash, it saves them fighting to get insurance companies to pay for possibly months.
Hey guys, so I have a question regarding free or universal healthcare, isn’t it just as bad or worse? So for example I have work sponsored insurance, if I need something I can pretty much walk in same day, there’s some people in the waiting room but it’s not a long wait. My gf has Obamacare or whatever free healthcare, the waiting rooms are always packed, you have to stand, you could be there for hours. And you can’t get right in for something, such as a tooth pull. When I had dental pain and ultimately a tooth pulled, I went to dentist same day and then oral surgeon the next. When she needed a tooth pulled, they told her it would be a couple of weeks and to take aspirin. And they wouldn’t knock her out for two teeth. We went to my oral surgeon the next day, paid cash, got anesthesia, and got it done.
The fact that you had to add the “I have not nor have ever thought of ending my own life” due to Boeing possibly silencing a whistleblower made me laugh but also go “yeah this is the timeline we live in.” Pretty dystopian if you ask me.
Apparently those allegations were false, but of course no one wants to admit that. It would conflict with narrative that paints her to be the worst person in the world.

@@jsmith3946 honestly you'll usually just rely on your doctor to be honest and good at their job to prescribe you whatever medication they think is best for whatever your issue is at the time. My only critique of this special is I wish that Cartman's defense only worked in his dream. Like, in reality, his fatness is so irrelevant to why people hate him. And he's definitely got other insecurities they can roast him for. Characters have punched him for less.

South Park is pretty old, I’m not surprised you have fans over 50. They were in their 20s when South Park started, so they were in the prime demographic.
The one thing I love is the fact when cartman is reaching for the Ozempic on the 18 wheeler, you can see randy pull and grab cartman into the truck. Shows how Randy’s parent instincts kicked in and he went out the way to save cartman
3:40 Actually the opening was more like a parody of the intro from the movie Dawn of the Dead (2004) than a documentary, they even made the song to sound like a version of Johnny Cash's The Man Comes Around. I loved that intro, it made really happy for some reason
The insurance/health care in the US is just like the rehab circle loop in Florida. The “Florida shuffle”. Every company is in bed with the other companies that work with them. But it’s such a conflict of interest that they just have you going in circles while you’re just trying to get better/survive. Something really has to be changed about ALL of it.
In the end it's about the companies getting what they want and not what customers benefit from. That's the reality when you let them do their bidding, they'll just sew a perfect net to generate the biggest amount of profit possible at the cost of the common people.
Florida is such a funny state. Number 1 in the country for education. Ranks near the bottom for any type of healthcare. My home state of Kentucky is number 1 in adult mental health care and 32 for juvenile mental health care for an average of 11th overall. I can’t say for health care in general though.
Not to mention, when i talk to health insurances as a customer, the person i talk to usually has no idea what there doing. Compare that to when id call them a few years ago as pharmacy tech, they werent nearly as incompetent. So the average person, who doesn't deal with health insurance on a regular basis get the morons. Meanwhile, the people more familiar to the system get the good ones. Ive had a lot of situations where, if i wasnt familiar with the system, nobody would have any idea what to do. For example, my insurance once told me prescriptions cant have secondary insurances. Most people aren't as familiar with health insurance as i am. How are they supposed to resond to that?
Dude it really sucks in Tennessee too. One of my in laws from California (who has been to rehab and has very bad, enabler habits) wants to help open up clinics in the rich areas… whereas our jail is almost halfway full of people that desperately need mental health care and there’s not a single place to send them… the only place in middle Tn has like 16 beds and it takes forever to get in. So no one’s getting help, we’re imprisoning people in crisis or drug addiction with NO actual help available and none of our politicians want to even talk about it. The only people interested are the ones that think they can make money off of this crisis.
Ikr. I'm always sleeping on my days off, trying to recover from my work week. Idk how he does it 😂 Also CONGRATS!!! Best of luck on the NCLEX ❤ You can do it!
I think that the coolest part of that episode was how much Kyle understood the distinction between obesity and health issues. If I remember correctly, he refers to obesity as a disease, not because it “is” but because of the health issues that come with it, and I thought it really got the point across.
The song is a parody of the opening to Zack Snyders Dawn of the Dead, which has a Johnny Cash song playing to images of the zombie virus spreading through news stations. Also when Randy takes his first dose, his tripping is a parody of The Lost Boys when Michael drinks blood for the first time, therefore his addiction is starting as he turns into a vampire, even the same song playing.

Another fact about Cartman's shift in perspective about weight-loss: He can do it this way without any effort - simply take a shot to lose weight - I don't think that Cartman would embrace it if it took hard work lol.
i used to dislike South Park for their edgy humor, but the more video essays i watch about it makes me realize the creators really do care about their characters, and they care about sending a message with depth. Hearing the show creator actually gain weight and use ozempic himself made me respect the show a lot more. I had thought South Park was like the final boss of adult animation like brickleberry lol
No. It’s good. Been watching it since I was 12. My great grandmother accidentally introduced me to it 24 years ago. She used to call it “those loud mouthed characters”. She burst into hysterical laughter when she saw the old Chinpokomon episode. Good times.
South Park pulls no punches. It isn’t afraid to go after anyone and be extremely crude. But you can tell Matt & Trey have points to make when they make these episodes, like when they decided to go all out on Scientology
i think it was a bit weird how nice kyle was to cartman through the whole episode, like i know he 'guilt tripped' kyle at the start but i think kyle could see through him by now. but i do think it worked well for the plot so i can't complain
Many ppl found that weird too, but you have to remember that, after all, the main four are best friends. Yes, half the time Kyle and Cartman are fighting, but the other half they are having fun as a group. Also, SP is no Breaking Bad, it's a comedy show so it doesn't worry too much about the consistency of a character's actions (especially if the writers consider that the plot is more important)
Kyle has always cared a lot abt cartman’s health/weight. Like when he cared more abt Cartman crapping blood than Ike being possessed, when cartman got that mobility scooter, etc. He rlly thought Cartman wanted to lose weight for the right reason lol and as the other comments said, Kyle also hates injustice of any kind so no matter what he feels abt Cartman he wouldn’t want him and many other ppl getting cheated out of help they deserve
As much as they despise each other, Kyle and Cartman oddly care as another mentioned. When the other is really in danger they pull through (or at least a 50/50). Helping Cartman and shutting down the exploitive nature of the whole system is also the right thing to do which is right up Kyle’s alley anyway.
You are so real on the treatment of psyche patients. When I was a psyche patient I would be forced to wait in hospital hallways while the paperwork for my insurance took all day and night to process only to finally be given a bed and treatment for the crisis I came to the ER for in the first place a full day AFTER first walking into the ER. Hospitals have a special way of making you feel less than human. It's a cold and sterile hell where everyone there only views you as what your problem is rather than what you are as a fellow human.
Depending on your diagnosis you may not have any more luck with private practitioners. "Oh, you have ASPD? I'm not qualified to deal with that. Sorry, I'll have to refer you."
I have been a US healthcare professional for decades. I was a loud proponent for universal medical coverage for years. I still believe in it, having spent many years as a military physician and seen it work very well. Nowadays, I still believe in it, but I am too old and too tired to fight for it anymore. Lack of universal medical coverage for at least the basics has seriously damaged our economy. It’s too risky for someone to leave even a lousy job, if it includes medical insurance.

Even though Cartman’s motives were petty as per usual, Kyle trying to help him throughout it was so heartwarming. And THAT American healthcare system song, need I say more than what Blooms already said about it in this video. XD Definitely one of the funniest Butters songs. I'm annoyed that south park took a shit at the bureaucracy of the USHCS but entirely ignored the AMA. Taking shots at everyone else but ignoring the one agency with the power to artificially restrict the amount of new physicians trained each year. It's why doctors are so overworked and paid so much. It's also why medical programs at colleges are so damn competitive because of the artificially limited amount of positions in any given program.

I'm British. I've had 2 surgeries, a year in hospital, dozens of scans and procedures and on and on and on. Because i can't work until this is sorted, the government pays me money so i can do more then just sit at home waiting for the next procedure. This is free. Yes i pay taxes. The NHS costs about 2% of my salary. Maybe 5%? Yeah, you don't actually have to do what you do, America.
We know that, trust me. There are a few issues though. Our voting is done per person, so no one actually knows what everyone else voted for, so if the government says "looks like the majority voted to not change anything" we basically have to take them at their word, because they WILL lie to us about it otherwise. We would need completely open voting to change that. Secondly, the bribes from the medical industry stops most politicians from doing anything on their end. Note: Medical industry, not medical professionals. The people working as doctors/nurses/pharmacists/etc. are usually all for changing things to be better for us. It's the corporate layer where they don't give a crap and would rather see us die than lose any of the money they get from us. We can only do so much without going the French route. Though I do love the sense of style that it takes to just put one outside of the building in full view like that.
We pay higher taxes indirectly, but as long as minorities don't get affordable Healthcare it's a sacrifice America is willing to make! If you want to kill anything for regular citizens, convince them black people will benefit from it and it'll fail.
It doesnt help we have way more people. Plus literally 50 different states that are basically their own countries. The taxes would be way higher, eapecially with the already basic medical taxes we already pay, we bearly have any money to spare for additional taxes. Most people go to the hospital roughly once a year even less then if you actually take care of yourself.

I really don’t get the US healthcare system like why isn’t it free like everywhere else
All while opening its borders to essentially exploit immigrants (people who coincidentally don't get citizenship.)
The UK also has Healthcare issues after the tory government essentially sold off the bones of the NHS to "private investors" who in turn decided they wanted to focus on procedures that would keep people paying for life.

South Park pulls no punches. It isn’t afraid to go after anyone and be extremely crude. But you can tell Matt & Trey have points to make when they make these episodes, like when they decided to go all out on Scientology
At its core it is edgy humor but it is also much more.

i think it was a bit weird how nice kyle was to cartman through the whole episode, like i know he 'guilt tripped' kyle at the start but i think kyle could see through him by now. but i do think it worked well for the plot so i can't complain
I always thought it was more Kyle helping Cartman out of principle more than him actually being nice
Kyle hates injustice in all forms, that’s all the motivation he needs usually

You see here in America, the greatest freest nation in the whole wide universe, we have something that you don't in these commie socialist countries called freedom, the freedom to choose how much we want to suffer until "it ends", that is as long as you have the money to pay for that privilege.
YOU paid 40... who paid for the rest? What are your taxes like? Instead of being taxed, I have several choices of providers at group discounts/subsidized by employer through my employer... I could choose private beyond that... or choose a .gov sponsored plan... or go without. Freedom.
If i'm being totally honest. I think this is my favorite special that they've released so far maybe besides the pandemic special. Everybody was themselves and acted without being forced while making sure they had all of the main characters. none of them had a role more important than the others (kinda like Blooms mentions in the video) and it was cool to see them all there, the animation was fucking awesome especially the truck chase scene and they had some really funny jokes as well. i really loved this special and i'm so glad that i got to see it the day it came out. the ending was amazing. Eric got what he wanted and it was hilarious.
6:06 THIS. Even in a country many consider a dream country I was meeting with the psychiatric doctors for 3 years and got nowhere with my mental health. They did diagnose me with autism and adhd and I got medicated which was a great help, but that was year one. Last two years they just put me in a psych ward and abandoned me when I turned 18. The adult ward I’ve been seeing since has just done the same by making me wait for months and then sending me to someone else. When I finally got to an actual doctor she was ignorant and mean and only wanted to undo the only thing the young ward did for me
There is no cure for your issues. You have to master yourself and only you can do that. It is tough, but not impossible.
@@wavemasterxyra1630 Things are far far far more complicated then just mastering yourself. In many cases mental illnesses ARE treatable, many of them are caused by chemical irregularities in the brain which can be regulated through medications and some specific therapeautic methods. Well, this is a fantastic comment. Good job.
No one has talked about how the theme in this special is a direct parody of both When the Man Comes Around by Johnny Cash and the opening credits sequence in the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake.

As someone on Ozempic (for diabetes), well, this was an episode. Ozempic is made for Type 2 Diabetes, not obesity. A major part of why Ozempic is so expensive is because all of these types of people are trying to get it, thinking it in some magical weight loss drug. I did wonder if people would get the whole "no appetite" thing Randy had while not really explaining that it kills your appetite. Maybe it was easy enough for people to piece together?
Yeah was kinda hoping that the episode would show how its weight loss craze would impact those the drug is meant for but it didn’t.
@@Dratspider That just reminded me - Scott Malkinson. I'm rather shocked he wasn't there at all when his whole identity is that he is diabetic. They could have had a sub plot about what you mentioned with him

3:40 The opening sequence is a reference to 2004's Dawn of the Dead, which also has an opening with a johnny cash song, flash cuts of media and things seen through microscopes. which makes sense because south park once did an episode entirely about 2004's dawn of the dead (the homeless one)
Not to make my comment too long, but I feel The End Of Obesity is one of South Park’s BEST things they released in years, 2nd only to the adult Covid specials. Definitely one of Trey & Matt’s biggest middle fingers to anything in a very long time.
Even though Cartman’s motives were petty as per usual, Kyle trying to help him throughout it was so heartwarming. And I like how Randy was more of an innocent dope in the story then his usual weed farm obsessed character he has been throughout these recent seasons/specials. And THAT American healthcare system song, need I say more than what Blooms already said about it in this video. XD Definitely one of the funniest Butters songs.
This special was definitely a big home run for South Park’s 2024 start. Can’t wait to see what they have for the other special and the rest of the season to come. And it IS an election year, so brace yourselves….
In Brazilian portuguese, "liso" is pronounced the same way "lizzo" and it is a popular slang to say someone is poor/have no money
That joke got even better here
if you look in the background at 8:54 next to testing is a animal cage showing the usages of tests on live animals in the medical field
I'm 36, still have no idea who lizzo is. I thought it was an actual diet drug.

i'm 45 and never heard of Lizzo before this South Park Special lmao
Looking at her will put you off food for a while.
Guys, I'm 19 and I had no idea who is Lizzo...
Good for you?
I'm annoyed that south park took a shit at the bureaucracy of the USHCS but entirely ignored the AMA. Taking shots at everyone else but ignoring the one agency with the power to artificially restrict the amount of new physicians trained each year. It's why doctors are so overworked and paid so much. It's also why medical programs at colleges are so damn competitive because of the artificially limited amount of positions in any given program.
To be fair, it would be hard to add that on top of all the roasting already occurring.
Lizzo literally paid by food companies to talk about being fat is positive, South Park knows fr fr
Got any proof or you just talking shit?

@chill_will9816 I had to Google the ingredients (thank god I didn't get the other special k) and while it's a majority rice and wholewheat flour it seems like its more meant to be nutritious than a diet cereal. The only sugar seems to be barley sugar at 5% which is pretty good tbh, but I wouldn't personally call it diet. Now I'll wait for a nutritionist to tell me I'm 100% wrong and you're correct lol

Eh, there's more of us than yours think.
UK: 67 million
US: 333 million
And you have much more funds per person.
GDP per capita:
UK: $46,000
US: $76,000
We, in the UK, spend about 5% of our income towards the National Health Service.
Americans pay a lot more as a percentage towards your insurance.
So, whenever you think about this or discuss it, remember it's not a financial limitation and there's a good chance you'll save money on your monthly income.
As for the 50 states thing, remember who they work for and who can vote them out don't take, "but it's so haaaaaaard" as an excuse from them! 😉
Start a grass roots campaign.
And make it clear, a healthy population, both physically and mentally, works harder and produces more GDP.
My mum needs Ozempic to maintain her diabetes and there was a shortage 4 times due to people using it like this so I'm glad Matt and Trey addressed this issue on South Park.
