    WOW WOW WOW! You are truly amazing! I just appreciate your work so very much. You think your projects through first, then everything is done in sections and the way you keep your surroundings so clean and tidy is amazing to me. I’ve been wanting to replace my kitchen vinyl flooring for a while now but really had know idea how to even start, with watching you cut the planks to fit around doors and caddy situations and you showing the tools to use have helped me understand how these projects are done. You may not even realize how smart and talented you are. Thank you for sharing this RV remodel with us. What a beautiful RV.......

    OUTSTANDING video! Think you would have been better off, after snapping the center line, working from that center out to the sides. Technique keeps the final edge piece(s) of equal size and in proportion to the layout. The Behr paint has primer "mixed into" its Marquis product, but there is no substitute for a separate high quality primer given the extreme heat and humidity the RV cabin must tolerate.

    so you really screwed up big-time and you're going to hear any piece of dirt that ever gets under that floor and it's going to just sounds scratchy and Poppy and creaky because you didn't put any of the thin foam undenethit

    Nice job. If you did not leave a little expansion room on the side to side for expansion you may get some buckles this summer.

    You did a very nice job on the flooring, I was wondering how you were going to handle the transition areas, but that trim looks great. Since you did this in the winter, do yo have any concerns about expansion when it gets warm or did you leave a gap around the perimeter?

    • @RVwithTito
      @RVwithTito  5 років тому +3

      I did leave a small gap plus I kept the RV close to 70 degrees during install and while the flooring was aclimating.

    It's nice to see a real project YOU actually paid for. Not another one of those "u-nboxing" or phony "product evaluation" that they got for free and are supposed to believe their honest reporting. If any of them gave a bad report there's isn't a Company out there that would send them anything. Sorry for venting but the other scam is the give free giveaways, give me a break.

    Great flooring... We used the same. When we installed our flooring we installed it east and west (you went north and south) it made our RV feel wider and more spacious. One other thing we did, that you didn't was to seal the floor we used KILLS. Another great video Sir!!... Got to Love Washington Winters!!

      Aron,
      I'm getting ready to refurb my 1985 Class A RV...
      I love this video too... but I noticed he didn't use any
      Glue... or Padding so the floor will float...
      I thought that in an RV the wood needs to really be
      able to flex with the movement...
      I am going to put my east and west too... so there are
      more boards to walk across than just down the middle
      of a couple of them...
      So you put glue down first ???
      Thank you for your help.

    • @3tailsRV
      @3tailsRV 5 років тому +1

      That is a great question. Under the carpet there is sub flooring. we painted the sub flooring with kills to hep seal it up then added the tile directly of the top. The problem with peel and stick flooring is you cant use a pad underlay and thickness of the floor is a concern when dealing with slide outs. Depend on your application and the RV..

    Great video & really nice craftsmanship on the install! I am very curious though, you installed the flooring super tight into every nook & cranny.....I have installed several laminate floors & always left 1/4"ish gaps along wall edges for expansion etc. Have you had any problems with buckling or puckering in your floor since? I'm about to do the same in my motorhome & would love to build it that tight to the walls. Have you experienced any issues at all?

    • @RVwithTito
      @RVwithTito  3 роки тому

      I haven't had any issues yet. I've also installed floating flooring in the house and have left gaps under the trim. In this case, I wanted to seal up a few areas from moisture and actually caulked a few edges (like by the shower and fridge). No buckling yet. Hope that helps.

    Great job, Tito! Question… we have carpet in part of our van and want to replace it with something like you have. The problem is it’s on a raised section of the floor and it has a curved front. I’m wondering if you have any suggestions for a flexible edge covering? Something like what you used around your entrance… but it needs to be curved or flexible.

    Brian, currently renovating my 1998 Class C. Pulled up some carpet over where the LP tank attaches to the frame. There are some round head carriage bolts going through the sub-floor making small "bumps" in the floor. Did you encounter this and how did you resolve laying the flooring over these bumps?

    • @RVwithTito
      @RVwithTito  4 роки тому +2

      I think I removed one and lowered one by first loosening it from below and cutting the plywood around the head so it recesses when you tightening it back. Good luck!

    How has your flooring held up since you installed it? Any issues with temp swings or anything else? I just had a huge frame bolt come up on my vinyl flooring, and I'm thinking of tearing it all up and going with a plank type like yours. The vinyl looks like crap already and my mh is a 2018. Did your flooring have a pad on the back for a softer feel/ and insulation properties? If not Did you consider anything and just decide not to take the extra step? Thanks for sharing.

    Just purchased an RV just like yours and are doing a remodel including floors. For some reason, the slide where our sofa is (your dinette) seems to “dip” and leans downward when closing. This eliminates the space needed to clear the new flooring. I anticipated this to some degree, as there were deep impressions in the existing carpet that we have since removed so I only installed flooring to that point to test the slide. Upon closing, the slide pushed the flooring (glad I “anticipated”). Is there an adjustment for the slide? We so enjoy your videos...very informative

    • @RVwithTito
      @RVwithTito  4 роки тому

      Some slides can be adjusted. I don't think mine can though. Ours dips a little too. Make sure it's level and take some weight out if you can.

      Cheap plastic stuff from Lowes. Maybe 3/8" x 3/4" not exactly sure. I got an oak looking one that was a close match to the cherry cabinets. The wall trim was white and I painted it the color of the wall.

    Great channel, so much good stuff!
    How has the vinyl plank done as far as expansion-contraction?
    I had snap/tongue&groove vinyl put in part of my house....it is not great. the ends pull apart 1 inch in winter, and then push each other up in summer.
    Maybe its just bad product?
    Im thinking of getting "Loose Lay" vinyl plank for my RV, but im worried about the same thing happening.

    Very nice!. I am about ready to do the same. I've gotten mixed answers on the question of using glue rather than letting them float. Those who told me glue said the movement of the MH often makes the floor pop out. How is your floating installation approach working?

      In short, he said he has had none so far. Neat!

      Good luck to us both!

    Great installation job. My only concern is expansion... some of those cuts were very tight and in the heat of summer you will likely have some bulging where you left no room. I did a porch with those planks and on hot days the entire center of the floor would come up in the air. I had to disassemble everything and trim off about 1/4" on all outside pieces to fix the problem. The floor has lasted over four years now and still looks good as new.

    I want to replace the carpet under and between our bed and the walls and on our bunk room steps. I don’t understand why they even put that little bit of carpet in the rig and the rest is nice one piece flooring. Makes no sense.

    • @dross24MA
      @dross24MA 4 роки тому

      First is cost; carpet is fast and cheap on small areas. Second, many folks want carpet under foot rather than tile when getting out of bed, and the mfg knows the folks don't realize they can put a throw rug on the tile/plank floors to accomplish the same thing while maintaining the ease of RV cleaning. (Maybe?)

      Hi there Stuart T, I’m watching Brian’s channel to obtain tips also for my current remodel. My tip to you is roll a coat or two of penetrating epoxy resin on all of the wood sub floor. Penetrating epoxy resin encapsulates the wood fibers so they cannot absorb water or any other liquid in the future. That is what good boat makers did before everyone eliminated plywood and started using composite sheets in the mid 1990s. Not really hard or expensive to do to wood subfloor.

    Lowes insisted on underlayment (thin foam) and expansion gaps along the (many) edges for my thin Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring (Shaw)... When I did mine, I used both.
