Definitely getting this logic pro for Ipad. Don't care about the subscription. Being able to start my church mixes on an Ipad is what I've been wanting. This will become the go-to app for singers, musicians, songwriters, and producers. I saw it has plugin support but I need to see what it will look like. If this could be used for live streaming or a backup recording rig with an iConnectivity interface!!! :) That would be dope.
You could start your church mixes on Cubasis for iPad - has a great sound engine, with mixer and plugin support. I will trial Logic but I feel like people need to shut subscriptions down. I mean, how many subscriptions can a person afford? it's crazy now.

Not sure about the iPad app. As far as Subscriptions they aren’t going anywhere. I get paid to mix so settings aside an extra $50 a year or five dollars a month isn’t that bad. Plus I’ve been using Logic since logic 9. Got into it right before Logic Pro X came out. So I know it well. I also know subscriptions a better for developer’s. Happier developers, better products. If you have to many subscriptions, cancel what you don’t use.
Hey Jonathan I’ve been thinking of mixing for a church live stream on iPad as well the problem is how to route the output to the livestream streaming software from the iPad. a workaround would be an aggregate device like on Mac but we’ll see hopefully they add that in!

I like the subscription model in cases like professional products. It makes it more affordable to the masses and it allows for developers to be paid to support. The program and keep it updated. There is alot of abandoned apps that don’t work or are not to update because there is no one being paid to work on them and update them. I paid full price for both logic and and Ableton back in the day and both are no longer usable in my current set up. So they’re essentially expensive paper weights. At the rate that developers release new paid upgrades it actually comes out cheaper than buying the package full price and then only to find out it’s unusable for future setups blows and if you decide not to use anymore than you don’t feel like you’ve paid for something you no longer use
Man to be honest I don’t get it. I have a Mac book pro lap top 15” if I need a big screen I plug into my 50” monitor, If I need “portability” well I unplug the Mac. Holding an iPad and stretching out the arm higher than a track pad becomes super annoying. Also finger prints. Man it’s a mess. Just get a MBP

I guess that recoding LPX for IOS was done by people who needed paying. And they will need paying to keep updating it. In that way, a subscription model makes sense. But I’m not paying it. No 3rd party plugins makes it a hamstrung version for me.

Nah. Cubasis is dope and all but Logic Pro kick its ass in every single way imaginable. This is coming from an avid cubasis user. If you’ve never used Logic Pro than i see why you wouldn’t know that but cubasis is pretty lackluster and missing tons of things it should have by now. I want to find an app to play live on my ipad. I used garage band drum beats a few times but my issue was I could not layer sounds and also the sound stops depending on where i go in garage band while playing. I was able to get somewhat of what i’m looking for using aum and garage band for drums the other day. I was about to get camelot pro as it seems to be an all in one to make set lists but wondering now if I should wait on logic. I would be easier for me to load and organize any song with the normal apple files app.

This is obviously geared towards those of us who do music production via iOS devices, but I’m sure they’ve considered the loyal macOS logic producers here as well. I’m referring to the reaction that you and others seem to have over the subscription charge. You know there are gonna be some things on there that you’ll enjoy as well. Who knows if it’ll be packed with that kind of stuff bc of its main purpose, but that’s why that free trial makes this overall a thing that I think everyone should be excited about. The criticisms can come after it’s released and after we’ve all tried our free trials (obviously).

Thanks for the vid John, but I'm just not impressed by Apple any more, despite being one of their brand champions in the past. Their marginal cost of £200/$200 for any minor hardware improvement is difficult enough to swallow, but if they're moving into the software-as-a-service market then they are really gonna alienate people. And it's not as if they're short of money...
You will still be able to use your logic x on all MACOS products. like you currently do but logic for iPad is different software with the same name. Also, if I buy logic for the iPad, I am not going to be able to use it on my MacBook, so I don't know why people are making such a big fuss about it.
I think hopefully will open the way for other developers to take ios more seriously and we get ports of all the DAWs. Personally i might end up trying it but i do not do subscriptions

Hello, I have a Yamaha midi keyboard, a lightning style iPad. I can’t get the sound to play THRU my Yamaha instead of the iPad. I have tried everything- any suggestions? The midi is working and I can see the keys moving on the screen and sound is playing thru the iPad. Thank you!!!

Different perspective, how much have you paid for logic over the last 10 years? I’ve spent over double on one release of Ableton that I’ve used for 2 years than I have on Logic which I have been using for 15 years. But not Apple want people to pay the cost of a coffee once a month to have a mobile version of the app they can take anywhere on a device smaller than a notebook, I think that’s very reasonable.
As a logic x user .. I’m interested in of the iPad Pro version will be able to connect to an external hard drive and run a project from that or even store additional samples on an external drive. I feel without a large amount of storage this could be a hit or miss. I do like the idea of be mobile and mix away from the studio.. great way to create alternative mixes without needing to turn on a light show of gear.

I use Cubasis 3. Logic Pro looks a LOT better. I always used windows PCs and my iPad M-1 Pro is so much faster, I’m ok paying a dollar a week to have something this good on it.

A lot of us are going to strike? Well to be fair, Apple is not the first to the iPad scene when it comes to video editing and there are other apps out there that allow for a one time purchases. I have even seen apps where they give you the option to pay 5 dollars a month for a subscription or 200 dollars outright. Apple would do so much better if they gave users the ability to choose if they wanted to subscribe or to pay outright.
Man I’ve been an iPad user for 13 years. I have every right to be excited. I’ve been on Logic since 2009. I don’t care about the sub. I care about the platform this is the future always has been. I can sale a cheap beat at $200 and pay for 4 years of Logic lol. Come on 50/yr that’s only 2 months of pro tools. I’ve invested plenty of time and money into this platform and this is a win for us iOS producers.

I'm excited about this as it will make other devs take the iPad seriously and make apps for it and plugins. Ipad is more than capable of running music apps and I've always been mad that people only use it as a "toy". This is a chess move from Apple, and I'm sure other music app companies will also take the iPad ecosystem a little more seriously by bringing in more pro apps.
I’ll tell you another thing to consider about this. There’s obviously a lot of conversations going on these days around the topic of music production and AI’s potential to make portions of it obsolete. However, those types of conversations are happening right now around the same time that the absolute best/most capable daw is being released for iPad music production. I understand they’re out to make money with this product. That’s all it is at the end of the day, but it also offers some optimism in regards to the fact that at the end of the day, there is a potential within a human music producer/songwriter that can undoubtedly compete in a market that will become more saturated with AI. You don’t get an opportunity like this (Logic Pro for iOS) if the opportunities for music producers and songwriters are dying hard and fast. You get an opportunity like this when/if there is still demand for these types of people. It’s only going to draw more people in as well. Part of the criticisms against iPad music production rest in the fact that up until now, there has not been an iOS daw that is close to as good as this. Those of us who produce music on our iPads know and understand the appeal of doing so. It’s kind of indescribable, but it exists, and now there will be a whole new generation of people who will have the opportunity to see if it appeals to them. Not only that, they will have a better opportunity at discovering the appeal of iPad music production on a very capable and professional daw. It’s great. I’m excited for it.
It’s great that Logic Pro comes available on iPad, but just like you, I’m already a Logic Pro user on Mac. What about us? I don’t mind a subscription, I have several, though it seems like Apple doesn’t let Mac Logic Pro owners get the iPad version for free. I don’t see it as a huge problem. $4.99/month is cheap ($49 annually even cheaper), and I’m definitely going to subscribe to use Logic Pro (also) on my iPad Pro. And I think I understand why Apple offers a subscription plan for Logic. They could have asked an one time fee for the iPad version. Something like $200 to $250. That will scare off a lot of potential users. Personally I don’t mind an expensive app, whether it’s for Mac or iPad, and I prefer buying software with a single purchase (just like I did for Logic on Mac in the past). I think Apple wants more people coming over to the iPad ecosystem (and current iPad GarageBand users), and many aren’t willing to pay a high price for an application. It will be another subscription for me, though I wish it would be an one time purchase. I can only speculate but it is difficult to get people to pay what they would pay for something that they can buy for their desktop computer. From what I have seen, plugins that you can buy on the Mac and iOS are cheaper on iOS. I don't the iOS community would pay $200 for an app. It isn't what they are used to. They could sell it for less but that may canablize desktop sales. So like many other iOS applications before it, a subscription model is used. A lot of plugin in manufactures have resisted making iOS version of their products. I think they are waiting to see how all of this pans out before they make a decision on whether to make the financial investment.
Is this why when I try to buy Logic Pro from the app store on my mac it keeps saying “this is item is being modified, please try again later”? So i need to wait until May 23rd to be able to purchase Logic i guess?
So you have to pay a separate monthly fee for the iPad version or will the five dollar amount come with both versions for the Mac and iPad.. it wouldn’t make sense to pay an additional five dollars if you already have logic but if you’re getting it for the iPad and the Mac, then that would be better

Back in the day innovation was from year to year. Now it's minute to minute. New protocols and technology is here every single day. Have you tried Mubert? is a text to music software, would love to see that in logic. Subscriptions also give feed back about who is using their software and what features get the most subs. Of course it should be a hybrid model where it's just for specific features like Logic iPad.

I will not be abandoning Cubasis on my iPad for this. I am only going to deal with LPX on Mac where it performs best. I feel like having too many options is destroying my productivity. Could it work as a live performance tool?? If so, only use it for that.

We also have to consider the cost of customer service. People want Grade A customer service but don’t wanna pay anybody. Life don’t work like that.

You will still be able to use your logic x on all MACOS products. like you currently do but logic for iPad is different software with the same name. Also, if I buy logic for the iPad, I am not going to be able to use it on my MacBook, so I don't know why people are making such a big fuss about it.

Y'all need to chill. I seriously doubt Logic is ever gonna be a subscription model for the desktop/laptop version. The whole marketing plan there is sell you a $200 dollar piece of software so good you buy another $1500 computer every so often to keep using it.
They’re going the Adobe route getting apps into more users hands, it’s cheaper than streaming services like Netflix and Spotify, etc.

Hello, I have a Yamaha midi keyboard, a lightning style iPad. I can’t get the sound to play THRU my Yamaha instead of the iPad. I have tried everything- any suggestions? The midi is working and I can see the keys moving on the screen and sound is playing thru the iPad. Thank you!!!

Different perspective, how much have you paid for logic over the last 10 years? I’ve spent over double on one release of Ableton that I’ve used for 2 years than I have on Logic which I have been using for 15 years. But not Apple want people to pay the cost of a coffee once a month to have a mobile version of the app they can take anywhere on a device smaller than a notebook, I think that’s very reasonable.

As a logic x user .. I’m interested in of the iPad Pro version will be able to connect to an external hard drive and run a project from that or even store additional samples on an external drive. I feel without a large amount of storage this could be a hit or miss.
I do like the idea of be mobile and mix away from the studio.. great way to create alternative mixes without needing to turn on a light show of gear.

I use Cubasis 3. Logic Pro looks a LOT better. I always used windows PCs and my iPad M-1 Pro is so much faster, I’m ok paying a dollar a week to have something this good on it.

A lot of us are going to strike? Well to be fair, Apple is not the first to the iPad scene when it comes to video editing and there are other apps out there that allow for a one time purchases. I have even seen apps where they give you the option to pay 5 dollars a month for a subscription or 200 dollars outright. Apple would do so much better if they gave users the ability to choose if they wanted to subscribe or to pay outright.

Man I’ve been an iPad user for 13 years. I have every right to be excited. I’ve been on Logic since 2009. I don’t care about the sub. I care about the platform this is the future always has been. I can sale a cheap beat at $200 and pay for 4 years of Logic lol. Come on 50/yr that’s only 2 months of pro tools. I’ve invested plenty of time and money into this platform and this is a win for us iOS producers.

I'm excited about this as it will make other devs take the iPad seriously and make apps for it and plugins. Ipad is more than capable of running music apps and I've always been mad that people only use it as a "toy". This is a chess move from Apple, and I'm sure other music app companies will also take the iPad ecosystem a little more seriously by bringing in more pro apps.
I’ll tell you another thing to consider about this. There’s obviously a lot of conversations going on these days around the topic of music production and AI’s potential to make portions of it obsolete. However, those types of conversations are happening right now around the same time that the absolute best/most capable daw is being released for iPad music production.
I understand they’re out to make money with this product. That’s all it is at the end of the day, but it also offers some optimism in regards to the fact that at the end of the day, there is a potential within a human music producer/songwriter that can undoubtedly compete in a market that will become more saturated with AI.
You don’t get an opportunity like this (Logic Pro for iOS) if the opportunities for music producers and songwriters are dying hard and fast. You get an opportunity like this when/if there is still demand for these types of people.
It’s only going to draw more people in as well. Part of the criticisms against iPad music production rest in the fact that up until now, there has not been an iOS daw that is close to as good as this. Those of us who produce music on our iPads know and understand the appeal of doing so. It’s kind of indescribable, but it exists, and now there will be a whole new generation of people who will have the opportunity to see if it appeals to them. Not only that, they will have a better opportunity at discovering the appeal of iPad music production on a very capable and professional daw. It’s great. I’m excited for it.
It’s great that Logic Pro comes available on iPad, but just like you, I’m already a Logic Pro user on Mac. What about us? I don’t mind a subscription, I have several, though it seems like Apple doesn’t let Mac Logic Pro owners get the iPad version for free. I don’t see it as a huge problem. $4.99/month is cheap ($49 annually even cheaper), and I’m definitely going to subscribe to use Logic Pro (also) on my iPad Pro. And I think I understand why Apple offers a subscription plan for Logic. They could have asked an one time fee for the iPad version. Something like $200 to $250. That will scare off a lot of potential users. Personally I don’t mind an expensive app, whether it’s for Mac or iPad, and I prefer buying software with a single purchase (just like I did for Logic on Mac in the past). I think Apple wants more people coming over to the iPad ecosystem (and current iPad GarageBand users), and many aren’t willing to pay a high price for an application. It will be another subscription for me, though I wish it would be an one time purchase. Nevertheless, almost any company has subscription models only, and the majority of them are a lot more expensive than Apple (Adobe anyone?). Great video

I wonder what the motivation was behind subscription, I want to think because Apple sales actually decreased (there's news about M2 Macs not selling as expected, iPhones not selling as expected) they made this subscription, but Apple has more money than I practically count, so what is their game plan here?

I can only speculate but it is difficult to get people to pay what they would pay for something that they can buy for their desktop computer. From what I have seen, plugins that you can buy on the Mac and iOS are cheaper on iOS. I don't the iOS community would pay $200 for an app. It isn't what they are used to. They could sell it for less but that may canablize desktop sales. So like many other iOS applications before it, a subscription model is used. A lot of plugin in manufactures have resisted making iOS version of their products. I think they are waiting to see how all of this pans out before they make a decision on whether to make the financial investment.
Is this why when I try to buy Logic Pro from the app store on my mac it keeps saying “this is item is being modified, please try again later”? So i need to wait until May 23rd to be able to purchase Logic i guess?

So you have to pay a separate monthly fee for the iPad version or will the five dollar amount come with both versions for the Mac and iPad.. it wouldn’t make sense to pay an additional five dollars if you already have logic but if you’re getting it for the iPad and the Mac, then that would be better

Back in the day innovation was from year to year. Now it's minute to minute. New protocols and technology is here every single day. Have you tried Mubert? is a text to music software, would love to see that in logic. Subscriptions also give feed back about who is using their software and what features get the most subs. Of course it should be a hybrid model where it's just for specific features like Logic iPad.

That means loyal Logic users will ultimately buy new replacement Apple desktops, laptops, and/or iPads, over the years, just to have continuous access to Logic. Subscription-only is unethical and sends a shitty signal into the market. Besides that it would have been a lot more effective not to divert the development team from tending to more important things on the desktop app. Why the hell would I want a full DAW on an iPad anyway?
not excited at all.. recording for me involves extra and often external hard-drives, interfaces, and often I need this stuff to run IN THE FIELD where I DEFINTIELY do NOT want internet running particularly wifi which I do NOT want interfering with in-ears.. so the subscription ???? how the heck is this going to work IN THE FIELD?? I have owned logic since Logic version 6!!! this is SUPER lame!!!! in the field when I need to multi-track, the field has no internet!!!!

I will not be abandoning Cubasis on my iPad for this. I am only going to deal with LPX on Mac where it performs best. I feel like having too many options is destroying my productivity. Could it work as a live performance tool?? If so, only use it for that.
