As much as I love Korg Module and the quality of the sounds, I do not approve that this feature should a payed one. This should be a standard feature in my opinion. And as a korg user I expect more from them. Nice review as usual! 👍🏾

Yeah bro, I've been using Module since it first dropped as well, definitely one of my go to apps, digging the update, even without the layering feature pack just the updated browser and controls is nice as well. Good vid man!

Can you do a video where you discuss how you layer and cross between apps
For example using Kong and Ravenscroft or MKSensation and how we can use pads from one or the other to combine with the piano of another.
It would have never dawned on me to use chorus E grand. But as my ears open I am beginning to work with the app,I action and what needs to happen in the performance
Now I use the 90’s piano not a real sounding piano. It it works in the mix

I downloaded Kong module and a free trial the sounds are awesome but noticed that my sustain pedal don’t work is there a certain controller that only works with this app I don’t want to purchase it if the pedal don’t work

Unless I am missing something, I think You can use AUM to do the same thing using multiple apps and multiple instances of any audio unit. You can map/split the keyboard any way you want. This restricts only to Module. I like module but why not have the ability to use any app. There are sone pretty great apps that provide a variety of sounds, not only pianos and keyboards.
Absolutely...AUM is the best...but I thought it was interesting to highlight this functionality built into the module app
John Mike I agree. I got that module pro functionality upgrade. I was just mentioning it in case someone doesn't know about AUM. I know you do, but a beginner can easily miss it if not for videos like yours. What do you think of the Ravenscroft app? I am close to getting it but the price is high. I don't usually quibble about price unless it's particularly high. If Ravenscroft is really as good as some people say it is, I might have to cave. That's why I ask you. You are much more musician than I am so I trust your ear way more than my own.

When you pulled up "Nasty Bass" (at 8:57) that's when i knew i had to click to BUY the app on my iPad
UPDATE: So, i did buy the Korg Module Pro ($39).. & that "Nasty Bass" sound you played, that made me need to get it.. can't be found in it.. i even downloaded the "Intense Bass" sound pack thinking maybe it's in there.. But it's not in there either.. So, Sir.. can you help a brother out.. Where is that "Nasty Bass" located. i really love that sound because it has a throaty, almost Wah Wah-ish quality to it. Sounds like the Bass George Duke used back in the day on the opening for "Reach For It"

brent pruett I have been using my iPad as my soul sound source module for live performance for the last three years. And, with the Apps I have I can rival the sounds of the best workstations. Having a good knowledge of sound programming helps immensely. And, I have been programming synthesizers for 40 years.

@@alexfaylona4007 currently, I have been using all my software instruments in stand alone mode. I do not use any host software program. Layering instruments is very easy. You can simply set them to the same MIDI channel, and control individual volumes by one of the keyboards sliders or knobs. And, some of my modules like SampleTank, Korg Module, bs-16i, etc. allow for splits and layers built in. I am now trying to figure out whether to go with AUM or Camelot Pro as a host program. Even though I have been doing fine without a host program, I like to have several opportunities available to me. I have found Korg Module’s splitting and layering feature to be very unintuitive. Others are so easy to use.

Can you not simply do this with AUM and multi instances of Korg model?
Is there a way to have the bass not respond to the sustain pedal? For example bass on the bottom piano on the top but a press on the pedal only impact the piano.
I bought 80 dance pop and there was no layering for me Should I buy the one you bought?

Hello, thanks for this tutorial but have a question to you. I just purchased 7 days trial of korg module pro expansion pack for cc learn and layering and splitting instruments. I only had some new instruments but split and layering mode selection is not available on my both iPad and iPhone devices. Is this because it is a trial purchase or I am missing something
Just get iM1 which lets you layer 8 sounds

Hi Mike! I deeply appreciate your videos about iOS and ipad use in live music performance. I have a question concerning workflow of different apps together. Is it possible to mount PRIME (as a background and song management), KORG module (as a sound module with layers and splits and different sounds) both working in AUM (as a general mixer management tool) ? Would it work together ? Or how would you set this up (maybe I am missing something). The point is to have a playback that you can manage (as in PRIME) and play along sounds from different synths (best KORG module sounds and others) and to manage it overall in sth. like AUM. Thank you in advance.

Hello John, I just bought the A61 how do I set up my IPad Pro to work with the A61?
It’s pretty much plug and play with the iPad...how you set it up is going to depend on which apps you use

@@markcroft8352 are you connecting a61 usb to an apple camera adapter into ipad pro? is the a61 connected to direct power or is power supply for a61 only from ipad? this may sound kind of weird but i've heard some cases where u can make the error disappear by just putting another 'unpowered' hub between the powered apple adapter and the a61.

How do you wire this stuff up, live ? -as do you use the headphoses out or have to use an outboard sound device ? You normally have to use the usb camera kit for eg connecting the ipad to eg. the Korg Kronos, wich the ties the lightninh connector. Am a little new to actually using an ipad as a sound module, and how will a normal iPad Air 2 run apps like this or th IK Multimedia Sampletank 2 for ios ? wich is the only multimbral module (that I know off) with a large library of sounds wich runs on ios. The Korg iM1 is good but still limited to the old M1 samples, even it sounds way better than the original M1 wich is propably due to the better DAC's available today.

I need to start with a higher-level instruction on how to interface an iPad where it can be controlled from both a computer and a keyboard controller whilst outputting audio to the computer for recording. My iPad has a lightning port, and my interface to the computer is a Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD.

2 reasons to get that ridiculous keyboard. 1- for the control of NI Komplete Kontrol and 2- for the keybed seeing how there is now a plethora of horrible keybeds being implemented these days. Almost gone are the Korg Triton keybed days.

It’s mainly for live use...but When I record on an iPad I use GarageBand

This is highly unintuitive. Korg has you jumping around to three different areas to set up a split or layer and set up CCs. SampleTank’s interface to all of this is right on the main screen. Korg has severely lagged behind in giving us the necessary control ability we need for live performance. That’s why in live performance I never use this App. And many of their sounds are sorely lacking and have minimal control for customizing.
I agree on the interface part. Having it all on one screen is the way to go for live performance. Moreover, Sample Tank gives you superior split and layer functionality without additional costs.
It seems to me that Korg is trying to make money the Apple way by charging 40 bucks for this.

I have an iPad Pro second gen and max out my dsp using moog d 15 with bs-16i using AUM to layer, will Korg max out my dsp as well?
I haven’t used the moog in my setup but I’ve had no issues with these ones that I’m using maxing it out
You may want to check your buffer size in AUM and the apps themselves, I'm running an iPad air 2 and can usually run 3 pretty heavy synths without issue. Of course I'm just jamming and some latency may result depending how high you go but an iPad Pro should be able to handle that. Hope that helps.

All of this is a great add on but split, midi assign and layering should be a free upgrade. Charging £20\$20 is just a cash grab. Even five to ten dollars would be way more palatable.
An easy work around is using AUM which also gives you as many layers and splits as you want plus access to effects. I agree them charging for this is a total cash grab.
