I was seriously looking at getting a used Rav4, I’d done many months research, and like many I’d dismissed Chinese cars (shades of how Korean cars used to be treated) then got a lift in my friends Jolion, and was seriously impressed, which sent me down a UA-cam research rabbit hole.
Yesterday I went to a car show, headed straight to the Haval stand, (intent on testing the Jolion) and was offered a test drive in the H6 hev, I’d never driven an automatic before, let alone a car this big! Both my wife and I were gobsmacked at the quality of the interior, the space in the back, the boot space, the sunroof, had I gotten in a Mercedes by mistake?
After a quick orientation by the demonstrator, I took it for a drive, through a busy car park, and some tight manoeuvres to get out onto open roads, it handled like a dream, and I’d never used automatic or driven a hybrid before, it was intuitive to drive, and in just a few minutes I was confidently seeing what this car can do, wow, it’s got some grunt!
I’d seen some reviews say it’s not that agile around tight corners, I had no issues, & the 360 cameras automatically showed me how close obstacles were, such a brilliant feature! At the end of the test drive I reverse parked with confidence, I particularly like how when I was navigating around a busy car park getting out of the car show and onto main roads, the 360 camera automatically switches on if you’re getting close to anything, I love this!
I was also impressed at how quiet the car was, I didn’t even notice the petrol engine kick in, only when I put my foot down on an open dual carriageway up to the 110km/hr limit did I hear some growl!
I have obviously read about the issues with menu diving for the controls, hopefully that can be addressed with some software updates, but for me, the main priorities are cost, space, drive ability & obviously value for money, and this hits the spot in a big way.
I was initially looking at the Jolion, but the boot wasn’t big enough, and there was a special offer on at the car show, saving about £1.7k so it was an absolute no brainer, I could get a top of the range brand new car, for the price of a 2 year old middle range RAV4 hybrid.
If I can get in this after only driving a manual smaller car, and drive with confidence and ease in just a few minutes, that is a very good sign!
I’m 6’2” there’s plenty of room, for leg, and head, there’s plenty of space in the back for me, and it’ll fit 3 adults too.
It took just few minutes for me to feel confident and relaxed driving this car, and I’m confident the safety features like the 360 camera, the elevated driving position, and the 5 ⭐️ safety rating will give my wife confidence in driving too!

Sure is quite very smooth and with lots of power, generally all the dislike is covered by likes..
I can accept it.. no issue
Only no spare tyre need to go by faith.. I am going to get one.

Hi, I live in Australia and have an h6 ultra 4wd ( vanta which is the black version ) and purchased it recently second hand . I like your comments based on daily real life experience with the car. Reason that I did not buy the hybrid was the front wheel drive. As an old driver used to rear wheel drive in the old days, I never got accustomed to front wheel drive ( you don't teach an old dog new tricks 😂 ) . But I find your experiences so similar to mine that I enjoy watching your videos. Wish you a lot of success 👏👏

Hi Jordan, really appreciate your honest review and comments. Excellent from an owner. I read the turning circle/angle was big? Meaning you need a few 3-point turns out from a tight spot? Do you experience that?
    Thanks. Loke, KL Malaysia

Keep in mind with the HEV that the vehicle uses the electric motor for most of the braking - therefore the brakes are hardly used - in the Toyota HEV’s the brakes are generally replaced due to perishing rather than wear. So the disks are not having that rust rubbed off….

Harsh braking at curves can be corrected by software update. Book it at the dealers they will sort it out. Mine has been sorted and enjoys it over the meanders in Mpumalanga roads.

Hey Jordan love the vids! Requesting for a video showcasing all accessories and add-ons you've installed on your H6. on the drivers side theres also this compartment (near the hill climb button) just confirming thats all it is rifht? A compartment

    • @The_Actual_Jordan
      @The_Actual_Jordan  5 місяців тому

      Thank you!
I don't really have add ons to write home about... I have made myself some paint protection as seen on the nose of the car, I have installed a sound system and that is pretty much that..
Then, that compartment pulls out (from the bottom) to reveal the fuse box..

Jordan, I saw the screen showing BEV driving, Tandem & Parallel. What is Tandem and Parallel ?
During Tandem Driving, both combustion engine & battery working together, correct?
What about during Parallel? Only the petrol engine working, yes? Thanks

@@The_Actual_Jordan Jordan, I received an official reply from GWM. Just sharing it with others too.
      BEV Driving Mode
In BEV mode, the vehicle relies completely on its battery for power
      Tandem Driving Mode
In this mode the engine does not connect directly to the wheels where the engine functions as a generator to recharge the high-voltage battery while driving.
      Parallel Driving Mode
In Parallel mode, the wheels are driven by both the engine and the high-voltage battery simultaneously. Full power to the wheels.

Thanks for the real life experience. It's always good to hear from owners and their honest experiences. Looking to purchase a unit very soon.
Quick question with regards to the engine. Once you have picked up speed on the highway, freeway etc. I understand that the ICE engine will be doing most of the work. Is the power from the 1.5L turbo engine sufficient or do you feel that it struggles a bit at higher speeds?

    • @The_Actual_Jordan
      @The_Actual_Jordan  5 місяців тому

Haha... no... NO, this car doesnt struggle... when you're at speed, the second that you want power ITs THERE! First all 300nm from the electric motor, and then comes the boost!!
I will do a video that shows the car at speed sometime soon

I just bought a Haval h6 HEV, 2024 model. 1500km done so far. I experience grinding of the brakes for 1-2 seconds on when driving down a relatively steep hill. Otherwise no problem with brakes. But it's disconcerting having that grinding noise. Also the inside brake disc of both front brakes are rusted. Ie. The inner brake disk of the ventilated brake system.
