      For anyone having trouble with this just show it to someone at the college you're trying to go to or one of your teachers in the school you graduated that you know can help such as someone who works in the office.

    The FAFSA is an annual application that is good for one academic year. You must renew your application every year. One reason why is because your aid package gets recalculated every year. So file as soon as you can after October 1 every year you are in college.

    I remember back in 2009 when I did this.
    Biggest mistake of my life.
    I did not graduate, I owe over 40,000 dollars , and the interest killed my credit score all the way down to 380.
    It was so bad that I would get calls from creditors at work, or letters to my job where they would take my paychecks if I did not pay them back.
    Basically. Do not do any of this, work, save money, and then look for a community college and expand from there.
    Loans does not equal education.
    Free tuition = education.
    I hope you all have rich parents to avoid these loans.

    • @MissWhoreMKW
      @MissWhoreMKW 3 роки тому +5

      addidas nike this is what I learned so far from the comments I received on a previous video:
      Fafsa is just an application that allows you to take loans, however! If you are poor, meaning your family is in the poor income bracket, then when you fill up your Fafsa application, you are offered Pell grants!
      Pell grants are free money to help you pay for school (its free if they consider you poor enough).
      If you go to a community college, with pell grants, then you technically get paid to go to school for free.
      However!!! If you are not poor, and your family makes more than the average poor family, then you will only be taking loans.
      My mistake was: I took every loan that was offered to me, once I was kicked out of the university, I had to pay every single loan.

    • @MissWhoreMKW
      @MissWhoreMKW 3 роки тому +3

      addidas nike you have to look that up on google, on 2008-2009
      Making under 14-18,000 was kinda poor.
      I just google it, and to be “poor” the limit is 26,000 per year nowadays.
      Like that you get a lot of free money.
      But community college is extremely cheap! You could take basic classes over there and manage to get a degree at little to no cost.

    I just finished using the parent information, and I manually completed my kid's info. And, I declared that my kid is totally dependent, and we are a marriage filing together. Well, my husband hasn't received the email to do his part. And at any moment I was asked to connect with the IRS. So I am totally confused. Never lived with my parents but have to get tax forms from my biological mom who is reluctant in providing it. Applied with the information she told me, which could be accurate or not. I have no way of knowing and only got awarded 50% of Pell based on what she said.. Not enough to cover a fraction of one semester. How do I apply for the first generation or the SEOG or anything other than loans to assist with the cost of tuition?

    • @FederalStudentAid
      @FederalStudentAid  4 роки тому

      We definitely understand that free money, like grants and scholarships, are the preferred type of financial aid because they don’t have to be paid back. Your school will use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for these grants, and if you do, you’ll get them. If you still have a gap between what your school costs and the amount of grants, scholarships, and out-of-pocket funds you can afford to pay, federal student loans can be a good option. Federal student loans offer several advantages over private student loans and most people qualify. If you want more free money, make sure you apply for scholarships. There are tons out there!

      Have you already received your aid offer and you're just waiting for your school to pay out the funds? Are you a first-time student loan borrower? If so, you may need to wait 30 days after the semester starts before your loan funds can be paid out. We encourage you to keep communicating with the school. This is a busy time of year for financial aid offices, but if you're concerned about the way your school is handling your aid, you can submit a complaint here: StudentAid.gov/feedback

      "Financial aid" is a broad term which includes: federal student aid (student loans, Pell Grant, and work-study funds) and any other aid you may get from non-federal sources. This can be your school (like a school scholarship) or your state. How your school applies your aid is something you need to contact them about. An aid disbursement could be directly taken from your account, or you may get a debit card. Each school is different.

      You never know unless you file! Your eligibility for financial aid is based on a number of factors, and that might change each year: studentaid.gov/complete-aid-process/how-calculated. Plus, many states, schools, and private scholarships require you to submit the FAFSA before they will consider you for any financial aid they offer. Fill out the application and find out what you can get!

      The confirmation page at the end of your FAFSA form gives you estimates of what you COULD qualify for. The real aid amounts arrive with the aid offer from your school(s), and you won't get one until you've been accepted to a school. After acceptance, your school(s) will look up your FAFSA info in our system and create an aid offer for you. If you haven't applied to any colleges, you won't get an aid offer. Completing a FAFSA form early has no impact on your aid. You should not consider the confirmation page as your aid package. bit.ly/3hAtHqY

    • @FederalStudentAid

      Your EFC is a measure of your family’s financial strength and is calculated according to a formula established by law. Your EFC is not the amount of money your family will have to pay for college nor is it the amount of federal student aid you will receive. It is a number used by your school to calculate the amount of federal student aid you are eligible to receive.
      Read and follow the directions in the aid offer. You might have to enter the amounts you’re accepting in an online form and then submit the form. If you receive a paper aid offer, you might have to sign it and mail it back to the school.
