For less than $200k, you’re usually buying at lot value. The house on it is just a freebie

absolutely true. they prefer if we build infills on these lots. However with the mortgage stress tests only getting harder alot of people might have to resort to buying major fixer uppers. Then they have to add sweat equity (providing the house is sound)

There is always a catch with such cheap properties.....if nothing else, they are mostly haunted with the spirits of the old occupants ! Please check with the neighbors...usually they know about the past of the house. Never hurts to do a diligent background check !!
