Great video. I like the note made that addresses that uplighting is more than just covering a whole wall. It needs to address architectural detail and focus to the important areas in the room. And the note about quantity vs features when it comes to working with a budget was also very helpful.

You get all the best toys Brian. Please set up all the different lights at the same time on a large wall next to each other so we can compare them for brightness & beam angles. Maybe a mega par, a ultra hex par, a profile panel, mega bars, V-bar, a flat par QWH5x, a wifely parQA5 & an ultra bar. Put them all down a wall & have a person walk in front of them, so we can get a size perspective. Any of these can be used for uplighting, but they all give a different effect. Variety is great, but I would like to see a side by side comparison before I buy them since most of us can't afford 8 of each.

I would suggest that for DJs who do a fair share of Outdoor tent weddings like myself that the Battery operated LED lights will come in handy! In these situations, a DJ would wish they had more than 2 battery operated lights. I just did a Tent wedding on Saturday where I placed 10 wireless lights around the tent, and I put the lights in sound active mode to beat to the music.
Some great points, personally I would prefer about six battery powered lights. reasons Time setup, cables, powerpoints. I think if you have cables you add an extra 45minutes in setup and packdown. The extra colours with amber and white no big deal you have hundreds with RGB to choose from including so nice pinks. From what I have encountered Uplighting in NZ generally couples don't want to pay too much so about $100 for most. Price wise batterry powered lights for the extra about $100 you get a battery, a brighter light and you can still use power cord if needed. Better value , better performance, flexibility for mobile DJ not having power points in the right place happens nearlyat every venue. need to shine up that column no power point at the base of the column out comes the power cord , possible trip hazzard ot comes the duct tape = messy setup and cables running everywhere. From your point of view the batteries are by far the easiest and most efficient way to go.
I would love to see a comparison between similar Chauvet and ADJ lights, such as tripar or regular rgb par lights like the maga par profile and slimpar. That is, if you can get your hands on a Chauvet fixture... :) I have 4 Slimpar 56 lights, and I think I will upgrade these by adding a couple pairs of battery powered wireless tripar fixtures, as well as a bunch of Mega Tripar Profile, one four pack at a time. Wondering if the fixtures are all just rgb, but different types and a mix of Chauvet and ADJ, will the colors work OK together? Thanks for the videos.... can't wait for more...

Hey Brian I know this might be unrelated to this video but I have a question for you. Sometimes I get potential brides/clients asking to come by other gigs I have to "see me in action". Does this happen to you? Personally I have no problem with it but my other brides might. I feel that it puts me in an awkward position to have to ask my bride if some random people they've never met can come by their wedding. Any insight you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks!
We have run into similar requests & I decline out of respect for the current bride. Nobody wants "crashers" stopping in to see how it's going. We started video taping our performances with a go pro camera or cell phone. If the bride agrees, we post the video on our Facebook page. If they do not want it on display, we ask permission to keep it for our personal library & show it to potential clients. To respect people's privacy, try not to get clear video of people's faces. Stand back & get an overview of the room or video your setup BEFORE all the guests arrive. Great way to show off your lighting.
You can apply this info to whatever lighting you'd like. ADJ supports education on this channel & have been very easy to work with, so, that's what's up.
