More than your hard work on this toycar, what I would comment is the way you present the renovation. For example, you show the real 1:1 car with the same paint in a brand new shape which is interesting for people who don't know the car. Also a lot of history on the model, really good job !👍
You did an incredible job of restoring this highly pitted model! Looking at the bare metal casting I would say a lot of detail was already lost but the filling and priming did wonders in restoring this to it's former condition. I like the the after market wheels better and the changing of the logo on them was a neat idea. Thanks for sharing this fantastic rescue of a piece of toy history.
Well Jason, although you might not have gotten this casting back to 100% of its former glory, you've certainly put a lot of work into it and it shows. Much much improved from where you started my man. I wonder if a nickle plating would have been a better option than filling and sanding? I don't know, I've not even done it, just a thought.
Congrats Jason - astounding transformation - very satisfying! The reproduction wheels were less good than I expected I can see why you went to the effort of saving the originals
Boy, that was a challenge alright, but you got through it. Think you did the best you could under the circumstances. Like the grill, but prefer the Matchbox casting overall.
now, I say! that surely was a pittyful casting. :) pun intended. haven't seen such a pitted casting in a long while, though I had siku axles rusted thinner than needles, and managed to make the wheels turn again. when I was a kid there was no replacement except another casting of the same. great work, it looks like new! ^^ when siku switched to silver paint they also made the grille and headlights part of the baseplate casting. with any other colour then silver it would have been too obvious, I guess. the interior is still the same, so you might be able to snatch a donor car. the Pagode-SL was the only vehicle where the cW ratio with hardtop on was worse than with softtop up; it cut off more than 10kph off the top speed, and not by weight. apparently the curious shape created air hoses around the car that braked it down.
Great job Jason.👍👌😁 That casting was in a terrible state, as bad as I've seen, making this resto even more of an achievement. With a wee bit more work, these 3D-printed wheels are going to look good - just need some practice.
That was a superb resto you made Jason. You certainly took your time to make the Merc that great looking. Nice, nice, nice! 👍👌❤️
Those Siku are so rare here in Canada. Cool to see those models. Thanks!
Down here in Snaileyville we have a grand total of two Siku castings - both Audis - and a bicycle trailer that was bundled with the Audi wagon...

Considering what you started with Jason, it turned out great !!!
4:33 The caustic soda sounds exactly like a Snooker crowd applauding a good shot.
Valiant effort given the problems you had with the state of the casting, you did better than I would have Jason.
Very nice. Good to see a project with a less common brand!

Nice job,I feel your pain man ,this is the situation when it's just don't want to go easy ,but hey you've done a good job
I do love a good challenge though, but this one was right at the top of the spectrum!
Boy, that was a challenge alright, but you got through it. Think you did the best you could under the circumstances. Like the grill, but prefer the Matchbox casting overall.
Considering what you had to start with, it is a good job. In the real world, it would have been cutting and welding.
Think I would have tried spot putty myself!

the aftermarket wheels dont do it for me....but i like the rest of your resto
Send the busticated wheels to Paul Restorer. He's managed to 'Nikola Tesla' a device to fabricate wire axles...
Putty time!
