Riding 1000km into the outback to grab one image on my Royal Enfield Himalayan motorbike.

- I ride my Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle to a lake I found on google maps in the outback of western Queensland Australia. To try and get one arial photo of the green/blue coloured lake with the ochre desert around it, but with recent floods would I be able to make it there and would the lake even be the same with so much water?

Thanks Harry, glad you enjoyed the video, there will probably be another 12 videos from the trip I am currently on (currently in Tasmania). Oh that would be hard waiting to ride your RE due to the snow, I'd be itching to get out there. I can only imagine the trials you could explore in Latvia 🤯.

@@freewayproject I was just watching everything Himalayan based and your post just popped up. I could see if it was indeed a Himalayan but as soon as I seen that Australian dust road in the title shot I just had to check it out... I see you some older posts which I have to check out also 👍 yes I live in a small town called Balvi and am surrounded by amazing forests, all very flat but good none the less! 😎
I am currently on another ride, so far 7 video episode with probably another 8 or 10 by the time I am finished.
I check out where your town is and went down the google rabbit hole looking at the forest and dirt bike trails 😂. yes it seem like you have epic forest to ride in.

Another fantastic video Joe. I just found your channel recently and subscribed. The quality of the content is second to none. Im in the process of selling one of my bikes and acquiring a himmi and some camera equipment. There will be a massive learning curve, but I have to do it as I've become to friendly with my couch. Keep up the good work its inspirational.
Glad I could help you get off the couch 😂. Yes the Himalayan is great for exploring, when you are not rushing to get somewhere, where a dirt track looks inviting. You'll have a lot of fun on it, that's what it's all about.
Excellent trip, thank you for sharing this and having me travel along. Here in Maine we have deer and moose to look out for, the emu is quite a peculiar critter.
Glad you enjoyed it, yes the emu's are strange they seem to be the most highly strung animal out there, they would take off running even if a leaf fell on them 😂

I'm just trying to catch up on your motorbike travellings (still a lot of episodes to watch!) and although I'm not a biker myself, I'm just loving it. Never had the chance to go to Oz but I was lucky enough to go to Namibia a few years ago, and it's funny how similar some of the landscapes are to this part of Australia. There's a region on the centre north of Namibia where some roads look exactly like these ochre roads you rode on. No kangaroos though... But some crazy wildlife too! And I dont know if you know that gerrycan is the name the allies gave to the germans' fuel cans in WW2? The Gerry Can. Cheers!
Hi Luis, thanks for watching, if you put a line through the centre of Namibia and head east it is in line exactly where I was riding in the video, that probably the reason for the similar landscape they have exactly the same latitude.
I had head the word Gerry in old movies but didn't link the two, that's an interesting bit of information.
Having spent time in Namibia ,I'd have to agree with you ,some of our country is similar.

If you don't want to go to far the closest place to explore would be just south of the Gold Coast venturing inland behind Byron Bay heading west, there are road there that end up turning to dirt roads, they had a lot of closures a few months ago due to the floods but they should be open again by now.
Next video should be uploaded soon and it heads west again but a different state.
I want to replace my Yamaha 250 Virago with a Himalayan in the next few month. The Yamaha is not an adventure bike. I do also have a Postie bike which I have spend a lot of time getting ready, but the Yamaha has to go. I'm in Brisbane.
hey Michael, do it get the Himalayan if you want to explore and go off road as well, it's perfect for exploring and adventures. Even if you get a second hand one, mine was second hand and I have had no issues.

What jacket is that ? Fully waterproof?
The Jacket is the Merlin Shenstone Air, it has a water proof lining that you can pull out when not raining to allow airflow, or if raining zip back in.

Joe, Hi! Great job again 😎 What is this „Oxford” device mounted near your left hand? Is it for Charging your phone?
Hi mate, no is it actually hand warmers or grip warmers, it came with the bike, I wouldn’t normally have bought it,but truth is I use it and used it yesterday and was very happy it was there. I have a USB plug I bought off eBay for $30 and wired it in myself to keep phone charged.

This was a really well made motovlog. I've hitchhiked Australia, but with my motorbike license only done adventure biking in my years of living in Indonesia on their scooters. Been looking at the Grom or Himalayan for getting off the Australian couches. Will probably go the Himalayan as it just seems better suited for Australia, however no wheelies or stunts on it though. Looking forward to seeing your other videos!
Thanks BL, glad you enjoyed the video. The Himalayan has gotten me everywhere I have explored, that's where it seems to fit, a bike for exploring. I did film a ride around Bali last year on a Kawasaki w175 which was a lot of fun. Currently finished off a where I went into Western NSW, then Victoria over to Tasmania for a lap around the Island then back through the Victoria High Country, there will be about 18 videos on that trip, hope you find a few you enjoy.
Nice one mate - I enjoyed the ride along, made me a bit homesick 🙂 Just wondering what sort of drone is that and do you recommend it? I've been a stills photographer all my life but never dipped my toe into the drone world. (I'm on a Z900RS at the moment but keen on a Himalayan too).
Hi Steve, glade you like it, the drone is the original DJI Mavic Pro that came out in 2016, it's old but still gets a decent shot, I think they are up to the Mavic Pro 3 which I think has a much better lens on it.
Yes my 2021 Himalayan is great, I got it second hand so it was cheap but gets the job done, it's comfortable on the road and light enough to be easy to handing in more technical off road stuff. I mean you could spend an additional $20K on some other adventure bike options out there, but I though I'd use that kind of money on fuel to go on more adventures.

It's just so easy to watch these superbly shot and edited videos of Joe's. So many interesting details and observations and his zero ego, down-to-earth, way of talking; it just opens up this world of his and allows you to feel part of it, with no grating bullshit in the way. Thankyou Joe.

Thanks Altaf, I am just finishing off a longer trip that took me through Western NSW, Victoria, a lap around Tasmania, over the Victoria High Country then back up the east coast. But planing on leaving on another long ride really soon heading west again but a lot further this time, so hopefully more ochre dirt.

I was going to ride the Birdsville track and was thinking I could make Birdsville in 2 days at a push. I just did 950km today on the west coast, doing 2 days that big in a row would really start to tier me out.
